Lagaan; by far. It was nominated for best foreign film at the Oscars, that say a lot.

Brilliant from start to finish, the climax is just... You are at the edge of your seat as Bhuvan hits the ball in the air; when that catch is taken, you are distraught, and that moment when you realize that its a six. Its epic.

The direction, screenplay, the performances and the cinematography; everything is as good as it gets.

It really highlighted a part of history but with cricket as the story-telling force. A great tale of heroism, touching upon some really deep subject that finally came to fruition with a thrilling cricket match.

I was watching Cahle Chalo, the documentary and you really appreciate the effort and the dedication that went into making it. Hats off to Aamir, Ashutosh and everyone involved.

Watch the documentary if you haven't guys. A great insight into movie making in general; some brilliant clips from back when they were shooting and on how Lagaan came about. A fascinating watch.

Chak De India...hands down...loved the film...top notch acting by SRK

lagaan set the trend of sports film but before that sports film were in the field...do you guys remember aamir's film with ayeshs julka which has a cycle race...the phela nasha song in the film...thats where sports films started...so lagaan was not the first one...it was that 90s aamir's film that had a content of sports theme which was cycling...than came lagaan...i couldn't sit through...it was too long...i don't understand the story either...but it set a trend for sports film...but lagaan was not the first sports film...it was the aamir-ayesha film in the 90s revolved around sports theme...

Has anyone watched Hip Hip Hurray from the 80s, it was a great film. Chak De obvio was a game changer for this genre. Iqbal was brilliant too. Lagaan was boring and it wasn't really a sports film.
