Chapter 11

That night, Imran's parents had come over for dinner. Zoya was setting the table with Najma and she was nervous. She had made her husband's favorite kheer but she was anxious about how he will react. She recalled the last time she had made food and how disastrous that had turned out. She hoped for a better outcome tonight. As she was setting the table, her eyes drifted towards their room door. He had returned from work but was attending a call. Where was he? She thought. "Don't worry Bhabhi, Bhaijaan aajayenge," Najma teased as she set the water pitcher on the table. "What? Main toh table ready karahi hoon," Zoya replied. "The fact is that table yaha hai but aapka dihaan kahi aur," Najma stated. "Aisa kuch nahi, main jaakar khana laati hoon," Zoya said, excusing herself as Najma laughed. A bit later, everyone was seated at the table with the food neatly arranged. Asad too joined them. Zoya served everyone including Asad. "Zoya, tum bhi aajao beta," Dilshad said. "Jee Ammi," Zoya said as she took a seat next to Asad. They both looked at each other and smiled. They all enjoyed dinner chattering with each other about Najam Imran's trip and other general things. As everyone started to finish dinner, Najma offered to bring the dessert. She served the kheer in the bowls and was passing it out. "Najma...I am full. Mujhe nahi chahiye," Asad told her. "But Bhaijaan, aapko toh khana padega. After all, aap kehliye special banayi gayi hai," Najma said. "What?" Asad said confused. "Aisa kuch nahi. Najma, Mr. Khan koh nahi khani hai," Zoya said, unsure of how the kheer might taste. "Oh come Bhabhi, aapne Bhaijaan kehliye unki favorite kheer banayi hai toh I am sure he would want to taste it," Najma announced. Asad looked at his wife who was biting her lips nervously. "Tumne banayi hai?" he asked. She just nodded. "I will taste it," Asad said. Hearing his words, everyone smiled. Zoya had her fingers crossed under the table. "Please Allah miyan, Asad koh kheer pasand aajaye. Maine bahut effort se banaya hai," she silently prayed. There was silence in the room as Asad dug the spoon into the bowl and took a bite. "Hmmm...it's pretty good," he said. Zoya broke out into a huge grin. He liked it! He liked her kheer. "Thank you," she told him with a smile. "Accha hai Zoya keh tum yeh sabh seek rahi ho, akir kabh tak Dilshad bi yeh sabh karenge," Haseena stated. "Main kosish karahi hoon Aunty," Zoya told her. "Accha hota agar tume yeh sabh tumari Ammi phele se hi seeka dehti but khair kohi baat nahi," Haseena taunted. Zoya was upset that Haseena had bought her mother up. She saw Asad's hand fist around the spoon he was holding. She could see his face turning red with anger. He was about to speak when Dilshad who had noticed the tension interrupted. "Chodiye na yeh sabh, kheer khayiye," Dilshad said. Zoya looked at her and smiled thankfully. She then placed a hand on Asad's hand which was placed on the table. Zoya smiled telling him that it was alright. She couldn't believe that the man who used to ridicule her was upset that someone had said something bad about her. Zoya never thought she would see this day. Putting her thoughts away, Zoya continued to finish her dinner.

Soon, Najma, Imran, and his family left. After bidding goodbye to her best friend, Zoya told Dilshad to rest and that she will clean up. "Magar Zoya...tum kal se kitna karahi ho beta, tume bhi toh rest karna chahiye," Dilshad said concerned. "Main theek hoon Ammi...aap jayiye, I will finish everything and rest soon, I promise," Zoya said. "Theek hai," Dilshad said, as she lovingly caressed Zoya's cheek and left from there. Zoya gathered the left overs and was placing them in the fridge. "Main help kardo?" someone said, startling her. "Asad...you need to stop doing that," she chided. "Tum hamesha dar kyun jaati ho?" he asked, walking closer. "Dar thi nahi ho, woh bas achanak aise kohi bolta hai toh," Zoya explained. He smiled at her reasoning, "Can I help?" Asad repeated. "Nahi...almost hogaya hai. Bas dishes karni hai," she told him. "Chalo...I will do it," Asad stated casually. "What?" Zoya said shocked. "Kya hua?" Asad questioned. "Aap aur dishes?" Zoya wondered. "Ha, tum karsakthi ho toh main kyun nahi?" he said. "Rehne dijiye Mr. Khan, kal hojayega," Zoya replied. "Nahi...chalo karte hai. waise bhi mujhe neend nahi aarahi hai," Asad informed. "Theek hai, chaliye," Zoya agreed and they walked up to the sink. "I will wash, you can dry," he offered. "Sounds like a plan!" Zoya said happily. Asad was going to give her a heart attack one of these days. Here she thought that he was an 18th century hypocrite and here he was washing dishes like it was an everyday thing he does. What about all those lectures he gave her about tehzeeb aur tameez? What about his comments on her clothes? What happened to all that? Was this the same Mr. Khan she had known from the past 2 months? Zoya sighed, Janapanah toh mujhe pagal kardenge, she mumbled to herself as she dried the dishes. Though they were silently doing the dishes, it didn't seem awkward. There was something about the silence that they both liked. It was serene! For once, they actually felt like they could be together without any words that needed to be spoken.

After finishing the dishes, they were walking toward their room. "I am sorry Zoya," Asad said, finally expressing what he had been contemplating whether or not to since dinner. Zoya stopped in her tracks and turned towards him. "Aap sorry kyun bol rahe hai?" she said puzzled. "Aaj jab Haseena bi ne tumare parents keh baare mein bola toh I realized how you must have felt every time I insulted you and involved your Ammi Abu," Asad said guiltily. Zoya felt her eyes fill with tears and before she could even try to prevent them, they rolled down her cheeks. He moved closer and cupped her cheek, "I am really sorry," Asad said as he wiped her tears away. This only caused more tears to glisten her beautiful orbs. She couldn't believe that the man who has always made her feel so insecure about herself was in front of her, comforting her. She closed her eyes in peace as his fingers caressed her cheek. They both stood there as time stood still. Seeing Zoya lose herself in his arms, made Asad go weak inside. He didn't want to let go, afraid to ruin the moment. Somewhere deep down, it felt perfect! Suddenly, a voice bought them back to reality. They moved apart and looked at each other, dazed. "Jammy," they both heard. Zoya turned away to wipe her cheeks and to compose herself. Asad was surprised to see Tanveer in the living room at that time. "Tum yaha?" he asked. "Woh hum toh paani peene aaye the. Aap dono sohye nahi?" Tanveer questioned. Zoya was annoyed. Why did she have to come here? They were having a moment, it was precious. And she had to ruin it! "Hum dono shohar biwi keh beech lakh baatein hosakthi hai Tanveer, woh hum tume thodi baata sakthe," Zoya taunted, but with a very sweet voice and a smile plastered on her face. Tanveer fumed inside but she just laughed awkwardly. "Main paani leyne jaati hoon," she said and left. After Tanveer left, Asad looked at his wife, "you are ok?" he asked concerned. "Jee Mr. Khan," she replied with a grin. "And Asad, jis din aapne apni galtiya ki maafi maangi thi, maine ussi din aapko maaf kardiya tha...saari batoon kehliye. You don't need to apologize again and again," Zoya said. "Ok...last time," he told her and she giggled. "Chaliye, mujhe bahut neend aarahi hai," Zoya said, as a yawn escaped her lips. Asad nodded and they both headed towards their room for the night.

Tanveer stood in the kitchen, not believing what she had seen. Har din kuch na kuch hote rehata hai inn dono keh beech. Aisa kya karo jisse inn dono keh beech? Mujhe toh yeh samaj nahi aata keh iss Zoya ne aisa kya kardiya keh Asad uss par gussa karne ki toh door ki baat, uss baare mein sooch bhi nahi raha hai. Kya karoon? Kuch toh karna padega...itni asaani se main Zoya koh jeet ne nahi dekh sakthi. Itni asaani se Zoya mera khwaab nahi cheen sakthi. As Tanveer returned to her room, her phone rang interrupting her plans. "Hello," she answered. "Main hoon! Woh problem hogayi hai. Mr. Saleem unka order cancel karna chathe hai," her assistant informed. "What? Kya kiya hai tumne?" Tanveer yelled. "Maine aapko bola na keh aap yaha aajaye. Lekin aap woh...," the person hesitated. "How dare you? Aabh tum mujhe blame karoge?" Tanveer asked angrily. "Nahi nahi Tanveer-ji, woh bas mujhe aapke business ki fikar horahi thi toh main bol raha hoon," the assistant told her. "Tum sabh ek kaam theek se nahi karsakthe, you all are fired!" Tanveer screamed as she ended the call. She knew that she would have to bear heavy loses if she didn't complete Mr. Saleem's orders correctly. But, she also needed to be here. What was she going to do, she thought tensed.

The next day, Asad had left for work even before Zoya woke up. She got up to find him gone and when she asked Dilshad, she was informed that he had an important meeting. "Mujhe nahi baata sakthe the keh office mein kaam hai," she thought. "Kya hua beta?" Dilshad questioned, looking at her gloomy face. "Kuch nahi Ammi, bas aise hi. Mr. Khan bolkar jaate toh," Zoya explained sadly. "Tum soh rahi thi na issliye," Dilshad told her. "Jee Ammi, main fresh hokar aati hoon," Zoya said. As she was walking back to her room, "tume paata hona chahiye Zoya keh Asad kisiko bhi kuch nahi bolta," Zoya heard Tanveer say. "Tumse joh poocha nahi jaata uss baare mein tume baat bhi nahi karni chahiye," Zoya replied angrily as she turned around. "Main toh tumari madad karne ki kosish karahi hoon. Jitna tum Asad keh paas jaogi utni hi tume takleef hogi," Tanveer warned. "Who do you think you are? Main mere shohar keh saath kya karti hoon ya kya nahi karti hoon that is my problem. Tume ek baar mein baat samaj nahi aati. Just stay of our lives!" Zoya said with gritted teeth. "Tum Asad keh zindagi mein sirf ek zabardasti ho Zoya aur kuch nahi," Tanveer said. Zoya felt her heart break into pieces hearing those words. How could she say that? Why was she doing this? "Mere aur Asad keh beech kya rishta hai woh hum dono ki beech ki baat hai, don't bother about it," Zoya told her and left from there. Walking into her room, she let the tears she was holding flow down. Would her relationship ever change from being a compromise to something else? Will she ever be able to change it into something else? Asad toh bolte hai keh hum dost hai par mujhe aisa ehsaas kyun nahi hota? Aaj bhi humare beech kuch aisa hai joh Mr. Khan koh mujhse shayad door rakta hai. But, I can't give up! I don't care what Tanveer thinks or for that matter what anybody believes, I will keep fighting for what is mine. Allah miyan, please mujhe himmat dijiye, she prayed wiping her tears away.

That evening, Zoya received a message from Asad telling her that he would be late. Zoya was happy that he had informed her. She told Dilshad to go to bed after dinner and that she would wait for Asad. Dilshad was really happy to hear Zoya act like a true wife. Tanveer though wasn't too pleased. Kuch toh karna padega, she thought. Zoya sat on the sofa, flipping through channels on TV. There wasn't much going on at that time of the night. Zoya checked the clock, Asad itne late hogaye...paata nahi kaha hai, she wondered. It was past midnight when Asad returned from work. He slowly opened the main door and stepped in. Asad saw the lights in the living room but no one was there. He walked closer and saw his beautiful wife, laying on the couch, asleep. "Yeh yaha kyun sohgayi?" Asad wondered. He patted her cheeks and called her name trying to wake her up. "Chodiye na...main Mr. Khan ka wait karahi hoon," she mumbled, pushing his hand away. Asad smiled. His heart melted seeing her sleep so innocently. Asad placed his coat and bag on the floor. He then picked his wife in his arms and started walking to the room. Once inside, Asad placed her on the bed and covered her comfortably with a duvet. He brushed her hair aside and tucked it in behind her ear. His fingers caressed her cheek longer than needed. Asad then returned to the living room to get his coat and office bag. As he walking back to the room, he saw Tanveer coming from the kitchen. "Aree Jammy, aap aagaye?" she said with a smile. "Ha Tanveer, abhi thodi dher phele aaya hoon," Asad replied. "Zoya kaha hai? Woh toh aap kehliye jaag ne wali thi," Tanveer asked. "Woh sohgayi hai," he said. "Bichari! Woh aadat nahi haina usse yeh sabh karne ki. Woh humari taara gharelo thodi hai, woh toh modern hai, US mein pali baadi hai," Tanveer reasoned. Asad just nodded and told Tanveer he was tried, and left. When he went back to the room, Asad felt a smile creep up his lips. He didn't know why but the fact that she had made the effort to stay up for him, that made him beam.

The next morning, Zoya woke up to find her husband sleeping. Allah miyan, what's wrong with me? Mujhe toh kal jaag na tha aur main sohgayi? It's ok, main Mr. Khan kehliye kuch breakfast bana thi hoon, she decided. After freshening up and getting dressed, Zoya came to the kitchen where she saw Dilshad. "Good morning Ammi," Zoya greeted. "Good morning," Dilshad said smilingly. "Ammi...main aaj Asad kehliye nashta banao?" Zoya asked. "Ha zaroor, tum uski biwi ho, tume mujhe poochne ki kohi zaroorat nahi hai," Dilshad said. Zoya nodded and started to gather the ingredients she needed for Asad's omelet. Dilshad saw Zoya work diligently and prepare breakfast for her son. She could tell that Zoya really cared for Asad, maybe this care will turn into something more one day, Dilshad hoped. After she finished, Zoya arranged everything on the dining table just the way Asad preferred. She walked into their room to wake up Asad but saw that he was already up and in the shower. Zoya heard her iPad going off and she saw her parents calling her on skype. "Salaamalaikum Ammi, Abu!" Zoya greeted happily. "Walaikumsalaam! Kaisi ho tum?" Zeenat asked. "Main bilkul theek hoon. Aap dono kaise hai? aur Ammi, aapki tabeyat kaisi hai?" Zoya asked concerned. "Zoya, main bilkul theek hoon. Main apne sessions kehliye jarahi hoon," Zeenat replied. "Aur doctor ne kya bola?" Zoya said. "Doctor ne kaha hai keh woh saare chemotherapy sessions khatam hone keh baad hi kuch bol sakthe hai," Anwar explained. Zeenat and Anwar saw worry transpire through Zoya's eyes. "Lekin tum fikar mat karo, main hoon na. Main hoon yaha tumari Ammi ka pura khayal rak raha hoon," Anwar said making his daughter smile. "Tum batao, aur sabh kaise hai?" Zeenat said, changing the topic. "Sabh bahut accha hai. Aapko paata hai maine aaj Asad kehliye nashta banaya hai. I hope keh accha bana ho," Zoya said excitedly. "Tumne khana banaya hai? Saach?" Zeenat said surprised. "Usse khane keh baad, sabh theek toh haina?" Anwar teased. "Abu!" Zoya chided. "Main khana theek bana thi hoon aur Mr. Khan koh bhi bahut pasand aata hai," she proudly declared. The next moment, Zoya saw her parents gleaming at her. She felt her cheeks fill with color as her parents chuckled at her. "Mujhe na...Asad kehliye nashta dekhna hai. Main aap dono se baad mein baat karti hoon," Zoya quickly said and ended the call. Main bhi na, kuch bhi bolti hoon, Zoya said, slapping her head. Asad walked out of the shower to see his wife talking to herself. Seeing him, she composed herself. "Good morning," she said. "Good morning," he said, as he put his towel to dry in its proper place. "Asad, maine aap kehliye breakfast banaya hai. Thanda horaha hai," she informed. This girl was surprising, he thought looking at her. Every day, she was doing something for him. Something that he would never have expected her to do. Why was she doing this? Was she really changing for him? But, why? "Asad...aap sun rahe hai?" Zoya said, bringing him out of his thoughts. "Yeah," he replied as he quickly grabbed his coat and bag, and walked out. "Inne kya hua?" Zoya wondered to herself and followed her husband out.

Asad was surprised with the way his breakfast was arranged. He has never expected Zoya to learn how he liked his things so soon. "Omelet kaisa hai Mr. Khan?" Zoya asked expectantly. "It's nice, thank you," he said. Zoya was extremely happy. She was getting better at this. Agar main aise hi karti rahi toh main bahut jald sabh seek jaongi. After all, duniya mein aisa kyon sa kaam hai joh Zoya nahi karsakthi, she praised herself. As they finished the food, the doorbell rang. Dilshad excused herself and went to open the door. Asad and Zoya too joined her to see Ayaan at the entrance. "Ayaan," Asad said. Ayaan greeted everyone and came up to Asad, pulling him in a hug. "Hello Bhabhijaan," Ayaan said looking at Zoya. "Hey Ayaan, kaise ho?" she asked. "Aap se mulakaat hogayi hai toh first class," Ayaan flirted. Zoya giggled while Asad glared at his brother. "Ok ok, sorry Bhai," Ayaan apologized making Zoya laugh harder. "Andar toh aajao," Zoya invited. Ayaan just nodded and they all walked inside. As they took a seat, Dilshad offered to make something for Ayaan and went into the kitchen. "Toh Ayaan, tum subhe keh ujale mein yaha kya karahe ho?" Asad teased. "Woh Bhaijaan, kal holi hai toh main aap dono koh invite karne aaya hoon," Ayaan replied. "Please Ayaan, mujhe yeh sabh cheezon mein time waste nahi karna hai," Asad told him. "Allah miyan, what's wrong with you Asad? Holi kitni fun hoti hai, aur aap usse time waste karna bol rahe hai," Zoya scolded. "Hum zaroor aayenge Ayaan," she said turning towards Ayaan. "Hum kahi nahi jarahe hai Zoya. Tum nahi jaanti waha kaise log hote hai," Asad explained. "Come on Mr. Khan, hum thodi na akele honge. Sabh honge waha par, chalte haina," Zoya requested. "No Zoya, main keha diya na," he firmly stated. "Main jarahi hoon...aap mat aayiye," Zoya said, getting angry. "Theek hai, aapko jaana hai toh jayiye," Asad replied frustrated. Ayaan just chuckled at the couple in front of him. He knew how stubborn his brother was but he had seen that his sister-in-law was just as stubborn. She was the one who could probably handle his brother, Ayaan thought with a smile. Later, Ayaan left. "Asad, aap kyun nahi aayenge. Aap bhi aayiye na," Zoya said. "You have made my decision, so have I. Mujhe office jaana hai," Asad said and left. "Ammi...aap boliye na," Zoya told Dilshad. "Zoya...tum toh jaanti hona keh Asad inn sabh cheezon mein nahi jaata hai," Dilshad said. "Aur aap bhi toh jaante hai keh agar Zoya kuch decide karle toh karke rehati hai," Zoya stated making Dilshad smile.

The next morning, Asad got dressed for work. He didn't see his mother or wife anywhere but he saw that his breakfast was ready on the table. Asad tried calling each of them but they weren't answering their phone. He finished his food and left for work. As he opened his door and got in, the next moment he felt himself drenched in red, yellow, and green colors. Asad fisted his hands around the steering wheel, he knew very well who was capable of doing something like this. He got out, slapped the door and walked inside. Asad showered and changed. When he walked out, he found a note on his bed. Maine yeh phele toh nahi dekha, he wondered. Opening the note, "Good morning Mr. Khan! Main jaanti hoon keh aapka mood aabh zyada accha nahi hoga. But come on Asad, aaj holi hai so bura na mano holi hai! Aap holi celebrate nahi karte that is fine, but main toh karti ho so Happy Holi! Main aur Ammi bahar jarahe hai phir holi keh party mein. You know Mr. Khan, meri toh bahut khwaish thi keh aap mujhe rang laagaye lekin woh toh hone nahi wala par, maine aapko toh rang hi diya. Aur agar aap chahiye toh holi party mein aajaye, I will be waiting. Your friend, Zoya," it read. He crumbled the paper and threw it to the ground. How dare she? What did she think of herself? She knew that he didn't do all this yet. Yeh ladki na khabhi na nahi sun sakthi, Asad said to himself. He gathered his coat and car keys and left for work.

At the venue, her eyes kept drifting towards the entrance. Allah miyan, aabh tak toh Asad ka gussa asmaan chugaya hoga. I just hope keh joh maine plan kiya hai woh sahi se hojaye. Mr. Khan yaha aajaye. Please Allah miyan, help me, she silently prayed. "Zoya...beta, andar toh chalo. Kabh tak yaha rahogi?" Dilshad asked. "Kya karoon Ammi? Aapke akdu bete ka wait karahi hoon. I hope aajaye," Zoya said expectantly. "Zoya, tum toh jaanti ho keh Asad kitna ziddi hai, usne ek baar bol diya toh usse badal na mushkil hai," Dilshad replied, with a sigh. "Aur uss ziddi sehr se meri shaadi bhi kardi aap sabh ne," Zoya mumbled. "Kya beta?" Dilshad questioned. "Kuch nahi Ammi, aap chaliye, main aati hoon," Zoya said with a smile. On the other hand, Asad was at work trying to concentrate on the file that was in his hand. But, his thoughts kept drifting to the note that his wife had left him. Was she challenging him? Was she telling him that he couldn't possibly fill her with color? Whatever, why did he care? He didn't...Asad clarified to himself. He tried to work on the file but it was not possible. Why couldn't he stop thinking about her? He didn't know. Finally, giving up, Asad kept the file aside and left work. At the holi party, everyone was enjoying but Zoya didn't know why she didn't want to. She felt like something was missing. It felt incomplete. Par kyun? Mujhe kyun itna farak padraha hai keh woh nahi aaye. Nahi aaye toh nahi sahi. Uss akdu se kya expect karsakthi hoon main, she scolded silently. "Tume kya laaga Zoya keh Asad tumare isharon par naach ne lagega? So sad na? Tumari kosish keh bawajood kuch nahi hua," Tanveer, who had purposely joined them for the party, mocked. Zoya felt her blood fill with anger. "I am warning you to stay out of my life. Agar tum aise hi kuch bolti rahi na toh I will make sure keh Asad aur Ammi koh tumare baare mein sabh paata chal jaye," she said. Tanveer laughed, "Aur tume lagtha hai keh woh tumari baat maan lenge? Bahut bholi ho tum Zoya! Tume lagtha hai keh Asad uski bachpan ki dost Tanu se zyada tum par trust karega, you seriously live in a dreamland," she said. Zoya didn't have an answer to that. She didn't know if Asad would trust her over his childhood friend. She didn't even know if Asad would trust her over anyone. "Kya hua Zoya? Kohi jawaab nahi hai?" Tanveer scorned. Before Zoya could say anything, Ayaan came there. "Bhabhi...aap humare saath holi nahi khel rahi hai?" he asked. Zoya composed herself, "woh actually Ayaan main tumare Bhaijaan ka wait karahi hoon. I wanted keh woh rang lagaye," she told him. "Oh come on Bhabhi, Bhai toh aane nahi wale. Aap humare saath hi khel lijiye," Ayaan said. "No Ayaan, main maanti hoon keh Mr. Khan aayenge. I will wait," Zoya said, looking at Tanveer and left from there.

Dilshad noticed how gloomy Zoya was since the time she has come to the party. Every time she thought that Allah has finally given her son the ability to use his brain, he did something stupid again. Bichari Zoya, Allah kuch kariye mere bete ka, she prayed to the one above. Zoya gave up! Asad wasn't coming, there was no point in being here and wasting time, she thought. Mujhe ghar jaana chahiye, Zoya decided. She told Ayaan and Nikhat about leaving. "Kya? Lekin aap ja kyun rahi hai Bhabhi?" Nikhat asked. "Bas mujhe ghar jaana hai, mera yaha maan nahi lagraha hai," Zoya replied sadly. "I am sorry keh Bhai nahi aaye," Ayaan apologized. "Tum kyun maafi maang rahe ho. I am fine," she said with a slight smile on her lips. "Kaho toh hum puri karde Zoya tumari khwaish," someone said, walking up to them. "Shut up Tanveer!" Zoya told her. Tanveer dipped her hands in color and started moving towards Zoya. "Maine bola na keh sirf Asad mujhe phele rang laaga sakthe hai," she said as her feet traced back. Zoya kept telling Tanveer to stay away from here but Tanveer wouldn't listen. Suddenly, Zoya bumped into someone. She turned towards the person, "I am so...," she tried to speak but words seem to stuck in her throat. There he stood...her husband! Zoya felt her heart skip a beat. He came...he came here for her, her heart jumped with joy. Asad had debated a lot about coming. But, the note kept running through his mind. He didn't know why he had ended up here. "Aap...yaha...," Zoya hesitated, not knowing what to say. Asad smirked at her. She looked surprisingly innocent at that moment. He picked up the plate of gulaal and dumped it all over her. Asad moved closer, "Happy Holi Zoya! After all, maine tume apne rang mein rang hi diya," he whispered. Zoya closed her eyes as a shiver ran down her spine. She could feel his breath on her jaw bone. He moved away and Zoya opened her eyes to see him gone. She turned to see him walking up to Nikhat and Ayaan. She smiled. Today, she felt successful as a wife. She felt like she had changed something positive in Asad. Maybe this was a sign that she meant something to him. Hopefully, more than a friend! Zoya thought as she looked at him.
