The unfortunate thing is that people get blinded by the glitz and grandeur, and characterization toh secondary as lame as it was...I'm just amused that BM is being lauded as some kind of masterpiece with the kind of message it dared to suggest based on the content displayed. SLB is so in over his head that he portrayed such a cheap depiction of "love" and glorified it. People wanna say masala movies kill the brain cells & rightly so, but movies with messages like BM are an abscess to society. It's so glorious to stalk and wreck homes if you are beautiful and in ishqqq with someone and even have children who just may or may not suffer because of it 😆 This story was so removed from the basic realities of human existence and so fundamentally flawed...and rather than acknowledging this, it proceeded to toot its own horn of glorified suffering and bad reason.

But hey, like I said...when you can blind people by the superficial beauty of things...who even thinks about the point or message or story or screenplay or characters. People wanna see pretty things...that's why SLB's career continues to exist.

😆

You'r ranting this much about BM, I can only imagine what you'd have to say about Ram-Leela which was god awful, man😆...

But then we are living in times were according to this forum, BM >>>> Devdas😆

For me personally...watching the level of skewed mess that Bhansali made of BM has made me have newfound appreciation for Saawariya😆

Not really. DP did a fab job! And I actually liked Mastani in the movie. I understand why she was written like that. SLB didn't make her look weak or overemotional. She looked very much like a brave warrior. Someone who can't be broken. The scene with her son... 👏. And Deepika is also very athletic. Just can't imagine Sona doing those action scenes.

DP was wonderful, but Sona would have been great

DP very good in sword scene. She played the fighting scene very well. I can't see anyone can do that. Maybe the only one I think can do that scene (beside DP) is Aishwarya Rai. I love Jodha & Akhbar sword scene. Aish so beautiful and good in that scene.
BTW, Not only Sona, even PC & Kangana can't do sword scene well, because both of them not graceful like DP & Aish.

No Sonakshi cannot do this role as first Sonakshi cannot dance. Secondly she is not super fit and active. The war scenes would be possible for her. Third she is slight overweight for Mastani.

Beg to differ... Aftr watching Deepika, Aishwarya's sword scene does not have wnough gravitas - it looks like a vogue fashion cover shoot while Mastani's looked authentic

No one will remember a single song or dance sequence from BM (thanks to oh-so-wooden dance & warrior princess) in a year's time. Even if the acting is melodramatic in Devdas, it is a legendary and world-renowned piece of work because at least SLB got the visuals, dance, and music perfect...in some ways, it is almost the zenith of what it means to be "Bollywood" whereas BM fails even in superficial areas.

I can't with people putting SLB on a pedestal because he casts their faves or they like seeing flowing curtains 😆 He's a good artist, so he should stick to designing sets and clothes and leave actual storytelling to others because he's just bad.

You nailed it...word to all of this...the fact that ppl are dismissing Devdas so casually just left me dumbfounded for a sec...lol and I'm hardly a die-hard fan of the movie...it's very melodramatic but that does not take away from the epicness of the artists involved...each of them memorable...can the same be said for BM...not really.

Heck even Guzaarish is a zillion times better movie.

Speaking of the curtains...lol I couldn't help but smile as I saw the hand-painted curtains in this movie too...it's like SLB ka signature...has to be there...started with Saawariya I think😆...Devdas was all about the stained glass windows and glittering lights😆
