Mona's Marathi problem
22 Oct 2007, 1556 hrs IST,TNN

Oh Mona...hey kaay chaalay?
Maharashtrians aren't too happy with the way Mona Singh attempts to speak a few words in Marathi on Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa. She messes them up completely.
No doubt it sounds funny, but somebody like Purnima Mhatre, a housewife says, "Mona's been in Maharashtra for such a long time. How can she not know some basic words in Marathi."
Guess Mona's got to remember this: When in Maharashtra know Marathi..atleast the basics!

Well I m a Bengali and I stay in Maharashtra for the last 18yrs or so but still I hv a problem with my Marathi Accent ..Its not that easy to get the correct pronounciations of a completely different language ..So I can understand Mona's plight here 😳 ..

But she should not try to speak in Marathi at all on the show 😳 or else it looks like as if she is making fun of the Language

Speaking in another language which u don't knw is tough. If Mona is speaking in Marathi she needs 2 get pronunciations rite or else don't speak in Marathi on d show.
