U, Me aur Hum - When Bollywood brought us closer

Pyaar, Ishq aur Mohabbat. Though not many may know what distinguishes one word from another, at some point in their lives two people in love would have definitely expressed their feelings for one another using either of these three popular words in Hindi/Urdu vocabulary. How could our very own Bollywood stars then be behind in being affectionate to each other?

Being a part of the world of glamour where colleagues invariably find proximity with each other, it is but obvious to find their soul mates. Some announce this loud to the world by telling a tale about 'Jab We Met' before parting ways, others introduce them as a 'Partner', a few may be ready to talk about 'U, Me aur Hum' and some adventurous couples are even ready to play 'Mixed Doubles'.

Saif Ali Khan - Kareena Kapoor

A rather late minute inclusion in the list here. And it gets to Number 1 right away. Till about last week, one could merely speculate around Saif and Kareena being a pair; today it's front page news. They may be seen together onscreen only around mid-2008 when Yash Raj Films Tashan would most likely release, but they would surely continue to make news week after week. Well, if they manage to stay on as a couple till then!

Shahid Kapoor - Kareena Kapoor

Aah, now that's heartbreak. In any other write-up during last 3 years or so, Shahid-Kareena pairing would have occupied the top slot. Now this one arrives at Number two; and that too because one of their most high profile films ever - Jab We Met - is releasing this weekend.

The stars of films like Fida [flop], 36 China Town [average] and Chup Chup Ke [best box office runner amongst the three] have supposedly come up with their best act together with just the right chemistry in Jab We Met. Alas, it may well be the last time the two would have faced the camera together!

Abhishek Bachchan - Aishwarya Rai

Aishwarya Rai. Beauty queen with an international repute and a much public past that involved two men.

When the two started dating while J.P. Dutta was busy putting his sets, costumes and other intricacies in place for Umrao Jaan, not many were confident about the liaison going beyond Jaipur, the place of film's shoot.

Well, they were proved wrong as Umrao Jaan did what Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, Kuch Na Kaho and 'Kajrare' from Bunty Aur Babli couldn't! The two continued to be close in Dhoom 2 while Guru saw both coming up with one of their best acts when paired as a husband and wife for the first time in their career. No wonder, Sarkar Raaj is one of the hottest projects in the trade as it gets the Bachchan family together. Yes, people are willing to forgive Ram Gopal Varma for his Aag!

John Abraham - Bipasha Basu

The two were most vocal about their affair after films like Jism, Aetbaar and Madhoshiand refused to comment when news around their break up started making rounds around the middle of this year.

The dust settled down by itself, especially during last few weeks. Also, John and Bipasha seem very comfortable together onscreen as they share the screen together for an item song in No Smoking which releases this week and later appear as a pair in Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal releasing next month.

Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron - that may well be said by both John Abraham and Bipasha Basu with a shrug as their on-off relationship in last few months could well be termed as a lovers tiff of a 'chota-mota' scale!

Ajay Devgan - Kajol

What happens when a fire band girl meets a young man who was termed as introvert though intense! Opposites attract and 'Hulchul' begins!

No one could dream of Ajay Devgan and Kajol living their life together as a couple. Especially so after they found themselves in films like Hulchul and Gunda Raj, both of them being hardly the kinds that expected them to bring them close to each other with all the 'dhaain-dhaain' and 'dhishkaun-dhishkaun' happening in the film.

But the unthinkable happened! Even the cynics had to finally admit that 'Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha' and the love birds were resigned to confess 'Dil Kya Kare'! As a couple, their last film together was Raju Chacha though in 2008, they would return after 8 years in Ajay's directorial debut U, Me Aur Hum.

Salman Khan - Katrina Kaif

Pyaar kab hua? Not many know, especially after Katrina's career had 'Boom'ed even before it could explode. Two years later Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya happened and news started making rounds about the two being a pair. She has been with him in all his troubles (Court cases, jail etc.) but continues to resist with 'I don't want to talk about my personal life' comments interview after interview!

Ever since Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, they have been seen more in public than on screen. Partner had Govinda wooing the pretty lass while Akshay Kumar seems to be doing more films (Singh Is King, Welcome, Namastey London, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye) with her than Salman (Yuvraaj, Hello).

No, they would never admit in print (as is the case today) that they are together but industry is abuzz with the theory that after crossing 40 years of age, Salman may well have found his soul mate in Katrina.

Ranvir Shorey - Konkona Sen

Just like Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, even Ranvir Shorey and Konkona Sen have chosen to keep their private lives to themselves. The two may have made numerous public appearances together and some of the unconfirmed sources may vouch for their togetherness but one still waits to hear the truth from the horses' mouth.

However, the two were busy playing 'Mixed Doubles' as they paired up for the first time last year. They met again at a 'Traffic Signal' this year where their love story ended in a tragedy. Will they dance together in Aaja Nachleyto mark an end to a rather eventful year for them?
