Sonam Kapoor is quite vocal when it comes to voicing her opinion on important matters. And the Prem Ratan Dhan Payo actor yet again did not mince any words when she took over the stage at the AajTak Agenda 2015. Unlike many of her contemporaries, the 30-year-old actor refuses to live in her own cocoon and never ceases to speaks her mind, whenever needed. With the growing debate on intolerance taking over the country, the Khoobsurat actor was asked about her views on the situation.

Be it Aamir Khan's remark or the cancellation of Ghulam Ali's concert in India or the ban on Pakistani actors working in Bollywood, a lot has happened over the last few months. And the Raanjhanaa actor is not untouched by the same. She has shared screen space with Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in her 2014 home production Khoobsurat. And Sonam believes that people from other countries should be free to work in India.

"For me, intolerance is a very broad term. I have faced racism in many countries. They see brown skin and they judge you. If people from our country can work anywhere in the world, I don't think there should be any problem that people from other country can't work in our country," said the Saawariya actor.

"I think art should be kept separate from politics. I have worked with Fawad in Khoobsurat and I can say that he is a great artist. It is secondary that he is from Pakistan," she added.

But at the same time, Sonam is of the opinion that there is intolerance in the country and would want a healthy dialogue and discussion.

"I think when a country is ready for dialogue and discussion, it's great. We have seen all kinds of riots that have happened in the past 60 years. So, we can't ignore the fact that there is intolerance," added the 30-year-old.

But as soon as Sonam was asked about Aamir Khan's remark on intolerance, she jumped to his rescue. She said that the PK actor has been quoted out of context and rather than creating a furore about his comments, it's important to understand the reason behind his fears.

The Ghajini actor became the target ever since his remark on intolerance was blown out of proportion. At an award function in New Delhi in November, Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist made a statement that his wife fears the safety of their child and wants to leave the country. Little did he know that a bedroom discussion would take this ugly a turn.

"People have taken the statement out of context. Have you seen his entire interview or have you just picked out that one statement? It was just a living room discussion. He basically said that he is scared that this thought has entered his mind. I don't think he was criticising anything. If he is expressing his fears, it doesn't make him an anti-national. I think constructive criticism is always healthy. If someone is criticising my performance, it doesn't mean that he hates me. It means he doesn't like what I have presented on the screen. I think it's very important to not take things to heart," she said.

The fashionista added that she fears that the Dhoom 3 actor might never speak his mind after being a victim to such criticism and hatred. "Aamir was just laying out his fears. Now, do you think he will ever speak about anything in public? So, you understand why an intelligent man like Aamir is saying all this, rather than calling him an anti-national. Maybe what he said was too strong ... but it wasn't irrelevant," the actor signed off.

she said the truth..this is what I fear..Aamir and many like him wont speak their mind at all..
and cinema is a medium through which he speaks the most. After all that has happened post PK and now this..it would be very courageous of him to keep up his motivation after Dangal.
I m an ardent modi fan..but what all so called modi supporters r doing is harming his image..the PM doesnt need such people..hope he stays miles away from them..specially the likes of raveena and anupam
