This is my second OS on this forum. Hope you all like it. This OS doesn't fallow the current story line and features only SwaSan :)
|| In Sickness and in Health ||
Sanskar had come home very late. He had some long boring meetings with some of the foreign clients and had hoped to come home to his wife. Swara on the other hand had had an amazing evening. She had gone out with some of her old college friends that she hadn't gotten a chance to meet up with after her marriage. So she enjoyed spending time with her old gang of friends.
Swara was waiting in their room when Sanskar arrived. He had called and informed her that he works be late and he had even messaged about ten minutes ago to tell her that he was almost home. So Swara had warmed up the dinner and was waiting for him on the couch in their room.
"Sanskar" Swara exclaimed, giving him a warm welcome hug. "His was your day?" Sanskar asked her. It was their routine to talk about every small little detail of their day during dinner, specially if they were having it in their room. "Amazing!" She was just bursting with joy to tell him about all the gun she had. "And yours?" "Dull and boring as usual" Sanskar replied. "You know Sanskar, I met all my college friends today. You remember I was telling you about them?" Swara continued, unable to keep in her excitement. "Yea? " "hmm even Shantanu was there. I didn't think he would be able to make it..." But Sanskar didn't hear anything beyond 'Shantanu '. "Is this the same guy you had a crush on during college and even he was apparently head over heals for you?" Sanskar couldn't help sound a bit grumpy. "Are you jealous, Mr Maheshwari?" Swara asked, her cheeks tinting pink with blush."No" Sanskar grumbled, and taking both their plates, he decided it was best to keep his mouth shut before they fought over something very petty and he would regret it the next day.
"Sanskar, wait... I was joking" Swara exclaimed getting up and rushing after him as he went down to the kitchen.
'This is not about me meeting my friends of about Shantanu. Something has happened in the office today' Swara thought as she followed Sanskar into the kitchen. But she knew not to provoke him. He would definitely tell her, just it would take time. After keeping the dishes for washing and taking their jug of water for the night, Swara and Sanskar walked back silently to their room.
Unlike everyday, after both of them had reconciled, Sanskar choose to sleep on the extreme end of his side of the bed, facing away from her. Now Swara was certain, something serious had happened at work. Silently she shifted so that she could wrap her arm around Sanskar's waist, and placed a tender kiss near his neck. Sanskar stiffened slightly before he let himself relax. "I love you, you know that right?" Swara whispered into his skin. "Hmm" "Good, I want you to never forget that." She told him, tightening her arm. Sanskar gave up, turned around and gathered Swara into his arms, before burying his face into her shoulder. "I love you too." He mumbled. Finally sleep overtook them both.
The next time Swara awoke, she and Sanskar weren't tangled together like usual, but they were still touching slightly. But what alerted her was Sanskar's mumbling and his erratic breathing.
Sitting up, she switched on the bed side lamp. It had been months since Sanskar had had a nightmare. She could vividly remember the last time it had happened. "Sanskar" she whispered. She didn't want to startle him, but she had to wake him before it got worse. "Sanskar" she tried a little louder. It wasn't working. She took to slightly coming her fingers through his hair, mumbling sweet nothings.
Sanskar awoke disoriented, but staring right into Swara's eyes. Swara silently wiped the few stray tears which had slipped out, and gave him a tender kiss on his forehead. "Not the first one, tonight?" She whispered. He shook his head. "That's why you were sleeping like this? Away from me?" "I didn't want you to disturb your sleep." Sanskar replied.
"When we became friends, then when we had a fake marriage, then the real one, I know we did ask if that to help solve my problems. But, when we finally reconciled, it was with a promise to stay with each other through thick and thin, through sickness and health." She took a deep breath, pulling herself into a half sitting position and opening her arms, inviting Sanskar into her embrace. "I know you trust me completely Sanskar, but I want you to trust me with your problems too like I do. I know there was something that happened in the office which triggered the nightmare today." She whispered, going back to combing her fingers through his hair, now that he had wrapped his arms around her waist and resting his head on her chest. "You need to let it out, okay." Swara murmured.
"I saw Kavi's death again, but it wasn't her face this time, lying lifeless in my arms, I was yours." Sanskar choked on the last words. "Shh sweetheart, I'm here with you, and I'm not going to let anyone separate us okay." Swara's arms tightened around him. "Someone was talking about how harming a businessman's lover was the easiest way of taking him out of competition." he said, as an explanation.
"Sanskar" Swara lifted his head up so she could look into his eyes in the dim light. Cupping his cheeks she placed her lips on his. The kiss was not passionate but carried a very deep love and Swara tried to put all her sense of reassurance into that one kiss. "We don't know what destiny has in store for us, but if we have fought our family for t this love that we share in sure we can fight any outsider as well." Sanskar couldn't find words then. Her soft yet firm words had been like a soothing balm to his heart. He conveyed his emotions through as another deep kiss.
"Let's go back to sleep." Swara typing him. She moved to switch off the bed side lamp. Snuggling back into the covers, she allowed Sanskar to pull her into a tight embrace. And Sanskar drifted back to a peaceful sleep to Swara's sweet melody in his ears and the comfort her arms provided him.
