Rules & Eligibility *UPDATED*
- Films:
- All Bollywood films that were released between Jan 1 - Dec 31 2015 are eligible for awards.
- Voters:
- Voting on all achievements shall be restricted to active IF members.
- Any new members with an ID created on or after Dec 1, 2015 will be ineligible to participate in the BOIFA voting this year. Thanks for understanding. Please join us next year.
- Open Voting:
- To maintain the integrity and transparency of the award selection process, we will use the Open Voting scheme. This means that a dedicated award voting thread will be created per the schedule noted below.
- Each voter will create only ONE post in the voting thread. This serves as their official voting ballot for BoIFA. Their name will be recorded and posting times tracked to ensure they comply with deadlines.
- In this post, they will have to enter their choice for BEST in all the categories following the instructions as laid out at later date, to ease the post processing and tabulation of votes.
- For your vote to be eligible, you have to participate in ALL categories. Incomplete submissions, will automatically disqualify your vote from the award this year.
- To refresh Voters memory, a list of eligible films released during 2015 will be provided. In addition, a separate "For Your Consideration" thread is available to revisit the promotional material related to appreciated movies in 2015.
- Voting will close on the deadline (Pacific Standard Time).
- All votes will be manually counted and be auditable.
- Awards
- Award categories chosen to reflect all key aspects that make us fall in love with movies. No multiple categories to recognize achievement in a specific area (ex. Film/acting - critics, social, romance, drama, comedy, villain, vaigarah .) This is to ensure that the nomination and winner race is tight.
- Nominations: Up to a maximum of five achievements in each category receiving the highest number of votes shall become the Nominations for the category,
- Winner: Achievement with the highest number of votes becomes Winner of the category. In the event of a tie for the winner, a separate polling for tie breaking will be conducted.
- Publication: The Award host will compile all the results and publish the final summary of nominations and the winner for all category by the deadline.
Member Request:
- Be Fair. Be Honest. Be Civil.
- No bashing actors and other members in the award selection threads.
- Leave a comment on why you chose the achievement as best.
The final award results (nominees/winner) will reflect the collective cinematic preferences of IF members. Therefore, vote for quality! This is our moment to stand out from the dozen award ceremonies that have clouded judgment due to commercial reasons.

Please note that the voting thread is open for 9 days covering 2 weekends to give sufficient time for voters to attend screenings of the hugely anticipated Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani.
