Chapter 10
Tanveer stomped into her room and slammed the door shut. She pushed everything to the ground. Every step she took was failing! Every method that she had tried till now hasn't worked. She tried to break the wedding, she tried to make Dilshad choose her, she tried to create misunderstandings between Asad and Zoya but nothing worked. She had to think something big! She couldn't be playing around with these silly games. "Kuch karna padega!" she thought angrily. Her thoughts were interrupted when her phone rang. "Hello...itni raat koh kyun phone karahe ho?" she barked. "Woh Mr. Saleem keh orders keh saath kohi problem hogayi hai. Woh material theek nahi hai," the person on the other side replied. "Main tume paise issliye thodi dehti hoon keh tum mujhe phone karke yeh batao, ya kuch kaam bhi karo," Tanveer yelled. "Maine kosish ki hai lekin itna saara material hum kaha se layenge. Aur phir, Mr. Salim bhi aapse milna chathe hai," the person stated. "I don't care! Take care of whatever issues you have. Mujhe yaha bahut zaroori kaam hai," Tanveer said. "Lekin main..." Before the person could say anything more, Tanveer threw the phone against the wall, shattering it to pieces. Didn't she already have enough problems to deal with? Her business would have to wait. She wasn't leaving from here without making Asad hers, she thought determined.
Unknown to the hatred that was brewing just steps away, Asad and Zoya were in their own world. "Tume kuch chahiye tha?" he asked. "Woh main...main poochne aayi thi keh aapko coffee ya kuch chahiye? I mean aap late tak kaam karenge shayad?" Zoya told him. "Kaam toh karna hai, but I am fine, thank you," Asad replied. She nodded and turned to leave when Asad stopped her. Hearing her name, she turned around and looked at him. "Tum sohjana aur bed par, mujhe late hoga," Asad stated. Zoya smiled at him, "jee," she said and left from there. Asad could still feel her aura around him. He felt something in him that he never did. His heart was experiencing a new, unique feeling that he was afraid to name. Zoya returned to her room in a daze. What was wrong with her today? She hugged Mr. Khan...and that too twice, she thought. And he didn't complain about this. Allah miyan, Janapanah koh kya hogaya hai? Ya mujhe kuch hoga hai? Zoya sat on the window pane staring at the room. "Mujhe nahi paata Allah miyan keh aapne mere liye kya plan kiya hai but aaj joh hua...woh phele kabhi nahi hua hai. Jab Asad ne mere liye phool laaye, I felt...I felt happy! Pheli baar mujhe Mr. Khan par kohi gussa nahi aaya...woh mujhe Akdu nahi lage," she said to herself, with a grin. As she sat there lost in thoughts about what had happened, and the possibility of a future with him, slumber overtook her. It was late at night when Asad quietly opened his room door. He didn't want to disturb his sleeping wife. But, what he found surprised him. She was sitting on the wall near the window, dozed off. Asad walked closer to see her glowing under the radiating stars. She looked...different, he thought. His gaze broke when he saw her shivering. Asad wanted to wake her up but didn't have the heart to. He walked closer and carefully gathered her in his arms. Asad went to the bed and placed her on one side. Covering her with a duvet, Asad stood there admiring her. She looked so serene and calm sleeping like this. If not, she was nothing less than a storm. He chuckled at his own thoughts. Minutes later, Asad got into bed and fell into sleep after a long tiring day.
The next morning, Zoya felt the warmth of the sun on her skin. She snuggled closer to the duvet, not wanting to wake up. In a few minutes, she had her alarm buzz. Zoya sighed and sat up on the bed. She then realized that she was on the bed. "Main yaha kaise pauchi?" Zoya thought to herself. She looked for her husband but he was gone. "Kahi Mr. Khan ne toh mujhe yaha nahi laaya," she wondered. Her face turned pink at that thought. "Iss mein itna sharmane ki kya baat hai Zoya...stop it!" Zoya scolded herself. She then hurried into bathroom to freshen up and change. When she walked out of her room, Zoya saw Tanveer standing next to Asad at the dining table serving him. She felt a burning feeling in her chest. Why was she serving him? Who gave her the right to do so? Walking up to the table, Zoya wished everyone and took a seat. "Aree Zoya...aap aagayi? Maine aaj sabh kehliye nashta banaya hai," Tanveer boasted. "How sweet Tanveer," Zoya said. "Kya hua Zoya...tum theek ho?" Dilshad asked, seeing her gloomy face. "Kuch nahi Ammi. Woh bas sorry, I mean paata nahi kaise main itni dher tak sohgayi," she told Dilshad. "Aree...iss mein kya hai Zoya? Kohi baat nahi," Dilshad said with a smile. "Ha Zoya...tum kal raat shayad dher tak jaag rahi thi na. I am sure you needed the rest," Asad said, seeing her sad face. She slightly smiled and started eating breakfast.
After breakfast, when Asad walked into the room, he saw his wife laughing with her iPad in her hand. "Abu...aap bhi na!" Zoya said shaking her head. "Tume haste huwe dekhar accha laaga," Anwar said to his daughter. He had been worried to leave her in India and return home. If it wasn't for Zeenat's health, Anwar would have preferred to stay with Zoya for some more time. He knew that Zoya and Asad had their issues. He was worried that Asad might never give Zoya the chance she deserved. But to see Zoya laughing so wholeheartedly again, Anwar hoped that her daughter will get the love and respect she deserves in this relationship. Seeing Asad, Zoya smiled. "Lagtha hai Asad aaya hai," Anwar teased. "Ha Mr. Khan aaye hai, woh office jarahe hai. Ek minute," Zoya said. She removed the headphones she was wearing. "Asad, aap Abu se baat karenge?" Zoya questioned. Asad nodded as he walked up to the bed and greeted Anwar. "Aap logo ki flight theek thi na?" Asad said. "Jee beta! Sabh theek tha," Anwar replied. "Abu...Ammi kaha hai? I want to talk to her," Zoya said. "Aarahi hai tumari Ammi, woh jet lag tha toh soh rahi thi," Anwar replied. "Accha Abu, main chalta hoon. Mujhe office kehliye late horaha hai," Asad said excusing himself. "Ha ha Asad, tum jao," Anwar told him. Moving away from the iPad screen, "bye...take care," Asad said to his wife. Zoya was surprised for a minute, Was he speaking to her? "Zoya...," he said unsure if she heard him. She broke away from her trance, "bye Mr. Khan," she said with a smile. Anwar smiled seeing her daughter's gaze remain on her husband till he walked out of the room. Soon, Zeenat joined them and Zoya was happy to see her mother. "Ammi...kaisi hai aap? Aapki tabeyat toh theek haina?" Zoya asked worried. "Ha Zoya...main bilkul theek hoon. Tum fikar karna band karo," Zeenat replied. "Aisa khabhi nahi hosaktha keh aapki fikar na karoon," Zoya told her mother. Zeenat just laughed at her daughter, "accha ghar par sabh khairat? Asad, Dilshad bi, Najma aur sabh?" she asked. "Sabh acche hai," Zoya replied. "Aur tum Zoya?" Zeenat asked. Zoya could see the worry in her mother's eyes. "Aap chinta mat kijiye Ammi, main theek hoon. Yaha sabh meri fikar karte hai, aap bas apna khayal rakiye aur jaldi se theek hojayiye," she encouraged. "Tum saach bol rahi hona?" Zeenat inquired. "Of course Ammi! Aapko paata kal Mr. Khan ne mujhe flowers aur chocolates diye. And Ammi ne mere favorite pastries laaye taaki main cheer up hojao," Zoya said happily. Zeenat thanked the one above for bringing joy in to her daughter's life.
"Aur tum kya karti ho Asad kehliye?" Zeenat wondered. "Main...main kya karoon?" Zoya said confused. "Zoya...aabh tum Asad ki biwi aur uss ghar ki bahu ho, tume kuch zimedaariya nibhani chahiye beta," Zeenat explained. "Kaise zimedaari?" Zoya questioned. "Ya Allah, kya karo main iss ladki kya?" Zeenat said, slapping her head at her daughter's innocence. Anwar just chuckled. "Abu...aap has kyun rahe hai? boliye na Ammi," Zoya probed, a little puzzled. "Zoya, tume Asad ka khayal rakna chahiye. Mera matlab uske kapde, uski cheeze, uske khane ka khayal rakna chahiye. Aur ghar ki zimeedari bhi Dilshad bi kitne din tak utayenge, tume seekna chahiye beta," Zeenat replied. Zoya tried to understand what her mother was telling her. "But Ammi, Asad koh har cheez unke tareeke se pasand hai. Kohi aur kare especially main, toh unne accha nahi lagega," Zoya stated. "Aisa kuch nahi hai. Har shohar chata hai keh uski biwi uss kehliye yeh sabh kare. Aur agar tum kosish nahi karogi toh seekogi kaise keh Asad koh kya pasand hai?" Zeenat said. "Theek hai, I will try," Zoya told her mother. Zeenat smiled. "Ok Ammi, main aap logo se baad mein baat karti hoon, Allah-hafiz" Zoya said and ended the conversation. "Aree...aise achanak kyun rakdiya?" Anwar said to his wife. "Aabh tumari beti Asad ki pasand aur na-pasand jaane ki kosish karegi," Zeenat said. "Kya? Yeh tume kaise paata?" Anwar said puzzled. "Ma hoon, paata hai," Zeenat told him proudly with a huge grin.
It's been an hour since she spoke to her mother but Zoya couldn't figure out how she will find out about Asad's likes and dislikes. "Mr. Khan toh mujhe baatane se rahe toh main phuphi koh pooch thi hoon," she said excitedly. "Pagal hogayi hai Zoya...kya bolungi Ammi se keh Mujhe meri shohar ki pasand aur na-pasand jaan ni hai," Zoya scolded herself. "Kya karoon?" she thought. A little bit later, Zoya walked into the kitchen to see Dilshad with a pen and paper pad in her hand. "Kya kar rahe hai Ammi?" Zoya questioned. "Kuch nahi beta. Woh kal Najma aur Imran waapas aarahe hai toh soocha keh kal unn sabh koh dinner kehliye invite karlo. Aur Najma keh pasand ki kuch dishes bana loon," Dilshad told her. "Awww...how sweet Ammi. Waise Najma koh pasand kya hai?" Zoya asked. Dilshad started telling her what she was planning on making and Zoya came up with an idea. "Ammi...Asad koh kya pasand hai?" Zoya said to Dilshad. A huge smile crept up on Dilshad's face. "Toh apne shohar ki pasand jaan ni hai?" she teased. Zoya turned red, "Ammi, please," she said shyly. "Theek hai. Baata thi hoon," Dilshad said. Zoya took the pen and paper pad that Dilshad had placed on the counter. She jotted one thing down on the paper, butter chicken! Zoya recalled making that and also how Asad had appreciated it. "Asad koh butter chicken accha lagtha, yeh toh tum jaanti ho. Uske alava, usse lamb briyani, kheer, carrot ka halwa, aur ha omelet pasand hai," Dilshad said. "Omelet?" Zoya wondered. Who on earth likes omelet as their favorite food, she thought. "Ha...usse uska omelet bahut hi tareeke se pasand hai. He likes spinach, onions, some tomatoes and mushrooms in it," Dilshad explained. Zoya wrote down everything that Dilshad had told her. She then even asked about the recipes for each one and even jotted that down. Dilshad was happy to see that Zoya was taking an interest in Asad's likes and dislikes. Once they finished, Dilshad completed her shopping list and was about to leave when Zoya stopped her. "Ammi...aap rehna dijiye, main karti hoon," Zoya offered. Dilshad was surprised. "Lekin Zoya, tumne khabhi ghar ki samaan kehliye shopping nahi ki hai toh tum kaise?" she said unsure. "Ammi...aap toh jaanti hai keh iss duniya mein aisa kohi kaam nahi hai joh Zoya Faro...mera matlab Zoya Khan nahi karsakthi," Zoya boasted making Dilshad chuckle. "Aur agar mujhe kohi problem huwi toh main aapko call kardungi," Zoya added. "Theek hai, yeh lo. Samal kar jaana," Dilshad said, giving her the list.
Zoya went to her room and changed. Grabbing her purse and the list that Dilshad had complied, she left the Khan house. As she was on the way to the market, Zoya came up with an idea. She told the driver to take her somewhere else. About 30 minutes later, the taxi pulled into the driveway of Dilshad constructions. She paid the driver and got off. She wasn't sure if she was right in coming here. But, she wanted to get to know her husband. And if it up to Mr. Khan then that was never going to happen. He was always too busy with his work. Zoya walked in and went up to the receptionist. "Hello, Can I see Mr. Khan please," she said. "Do you have an appointment?" the girl at the desk questioned. "No, but I...," Zoya was about to speak when someone interrupted her. "If you don't have an appointment, you can't meet Mr. Asad Khan. He is busy," Zoya heard someone say from behind her. Zoya turned to see a girl in her a black pencil shirt and a low cut pink blouse. "I am Asad's personal secretory, he doesn't see anyone without my permission," the girl bragged. "And you are?" Zoya asked. "Ms. Sameera Rai," the girl replied. "Well, Ms. Rai, I am going to go into Mr. Khan's cabin. You can try and stop me if you can," Zoya firmly stated. She didn't want to create a scene. But who did Sameera think she was? Ghar par Tanveer, ya par Sameera...paata nahi aur kitne anarkaliya hai iss Jahapanah keh," Zoya thought angrily. Sameera was surprised at Zoya's guts. Zoya turned to the receptionist, thanked her and started walking. "You can't do this," Sameer said, following Zoya. "I am a free person who can do whatever I want," Zoya told her. "But I told you, Mr. Khan doesn't see anyone without my permission," Sameer explained. "Well, it's time to prove yourself wrong," Zoya said. She reached Asad's cabin and opened the door without knocking.
Asad was on a conference call when he heard his office door open. He was astonished to see his wife along with Sameera in his office. "Ok Mr. Wilson, I will talk to you soon about all the details," Asad said and ended the meeting. He stood up and walked towards the ladies, "Tum yaha?" Asad said, looking at his wife. "Sorry Mr. Khan, I told her not to come in. But, she wouldn't listen," Sameer intervened. Zoya fumed! "Asad...do I need your permission to come here?" she asked. Asad looked at Zoya then at Sameera, "what was going on?" he thought puzzled. "Uh...no," Asad replied, thinking that was the answer he was supposed to give. Zoya stepped closer to him and wrapped her arm around his, "Because Ms. Rai, I am his wife, Mrs. Zoya Ahmed Khan," she said. Sameera looked at the couple. She knew that Asad had recently got married but she didn't know to who. She never thought that his wife would just barge into the office. Why did you had to open your mouth Sameera, she thought to herself. Zoya couldn't help but chuckle at Sameera's face. She felt bad for the girl but she was having fun. "Excuse me," Sameera said and ran out of the room. "What is going on?" Asad wondered, lost in the whole situation. Zoya laughed harder in response. "Tum hass kyun rahi ho?" he asked. "Kuch nahi," she replied, trying to stop laughing. "Zoya," Asad said, thinking what was so funny. She stopped and looked up at him. "Main aapse kuch pooch sakthi hoon?" Zoya asked him. Asad could feel the air getting tenser but he probed her to go ahead. "Kya mujhe yaha aane kehliye permission leyni padegi?" Zoya questioned. Asad was puzzled at her query. The girl who didn't even knock to enter his room in his house was asking him if she could come to his office. "Kya hogaya hai isse?" he thought. Zoya took his silence to mean that he didn't want her here. She stood up to leave when he held her arm. "Jawab nahi sunna hai?" Asad said. He saw the sparkle in her eyes dim and the hope drain out of her eyes when he hadn't replied right away. "Main chali jaungi," Zoya replied sadly. "But, maine toh kuch kaha hi nahi," Asad told her. He moved closer and Zoya felt her heart race feeling his body against her back. "Tume yaha aane kehliye permission leyna zaroorat nahi hai," Asad stated. Zoya was shocked first but a smile spread on her lips the next instant. She turned to face him, "saach?" she asked excitedly. He just silently nodded. "Thank you Asad," Zoya said. Asad telling her that he didn't need his permission to come here meant a lot. It might be a small thing for him but for her, it was his first step towards accepting her as his wife. It was a silent way of giving her what was rightfully hers as Zoya Ahmed Khan. "But please, knock toh karliya karo. I could have been in a meeting or something," he told her. "Next time, pakka," She agreed with a grin.
Asad realized the position they were and stepped back. Zoya just smiled. "Waise Mr. Khan, are you busy?" she asked casually. "Not really, I mean conference call toh khatam hogaya. Just some paperwork has to be checked," he replied. "Chalo...bait the hai," Asad invited. As he started walking towards his chair, "mujhe bait na nahi hai," Zoya spoke up. Asad stopped and turned towards her with a confused look. "Mere saath bahar chaliye na," Zoya said, trying to remain as calm as possible. She didn't want him to know that she was freaking out on the inside. She wanted him to accompany her to the market but she was afaird to hope for too much. What if he refused? What if he didn't want to spend time with her? But, what she didn't understand was why did she want to spend time with him? She could have gone alone but no...she had to end up here in his office to take him along. "Bahar? Kaha?" Asad wondered. "Woh kal Najma aarahi hai toh Ammi kuch cheeze leyne jarahi thi. I volunteered to get it instead," Zoya told him honestly. "Main waha kya karunga Zoya? Tum jao, I can't come. I have work to do," Asad said. She pouted. "Par abhi toh aapne kaha keh aap busy nahi hai," Zoya said. "Main yaha thodi dher bait kar baat karsaktha hoon but nothing more, sorry," Asad firmly stated. Zoya frowned, "Come on Asad, please," she requested. "Zoya, agar main hi office chodkar chala jaunga woh bhi midday mein toh employees kya kaam karenge," Asad explained. "Allah miyan, what's wrong with you? Yeh office aapka hai. Aapko kyon poochne wala hai keh aap kabh aur kyun jarahe hai," Zoya said, frustrated with his lame excuse. "Maine kaha na main nahi aasaktha," Asad told her. "Fine, thank you for nothing," Zoya huffed. She started to walk away and he tried to stop her. "Mujhe aapse kohi baat nahi karni," Zoya told him and slammed the door of his own office on his face. Asad sighed, "yeh ladki na...," he thought.
Zoya went downstairs and found another taxi to take her to the market. "Mr. Khan koh hamesha unka kaam, unki office, unke clients bas yeh important honge. Main kabhi nahi," she thought sadly. Tears pooled in her eyes but she wiped them away. It's ok Zoya...it's not a big deal! It is just a shopping trip, she consoled herself. But, she wanted to spend time with him. She wanted to know him. After talking to Dilshad, Zoya felt like she didn't know him at all. All she has ever seen is his anger and heard his bitter words. If she was going to give this relationship a chance, Zoya wanted to know him, the real him. Reaching the market, Zoya got off the taxi. "Kya leyna tha?" she asked herself as she started digging through her purse to find the paper that dilshad had given her. "Kaha chala gaya?" Zoya searched. She wasn't looking ahead and crashed into someone. Her gravity shifted and she fell back. Zoya closed her eyes and gripped someone in front of her. She felt a strong grasp around her waist which seemed all too familiar. Zoya lifted her lashes open and was stunned. She felt her heart fill with joy seeing her husband there. Wait a minute...was she imagining him? He was really here? Her mind probed. "Are you ok?" his voice snapped her back to reality. "Aap?" Zoya asked. "Woh tumne yeh shayad office mein gira diya tha," he guessed, showing her the list. "Oh," she said, sad again. Asad noticed the change of expressions on her face. The truth was he couldn't stay in the office knowing that she was upset because of him. Every time he opened an email or read a file, all he saw was her pouting face. He was thinking about going to the market when he had found the grocery list. "Aap rukenge ya wapaas jarahe hai?" Zoya asked. "Aap aayi gaya hoon toh why not?" Asad said. "Meher baani karahe hai mujhpar," Zoya muttered to herself. "Kuch kaha tumne?" Asad questioned. "Nahi...kuch nahi. Chaliye," Zoya replied as they started walking.
Time passed as they shopped together. Zoya noticed how quiet he was. Why did he come here if he was going to act like this? Was she that boring? Wait...scratch that! Zoya Faroo...no, Zoya Khan can never be boring. Mr. Khan is the boring one Zoya, she reminded herself. Asad saw his wife standing at the counter and talking to herself. That made him smile! She was crazy, he thought. Asad was never a fan of shopping, that too with ladies. He knew how long his mother and sister took anytime they went shopping. Walking up behind her, "Are you ok?" he checked. "Kya matlab?" Zoya asked, turning towards him. "I mean, tum...khud se baat karahi thi," Asad replied. Zoya was getting angry. "Well...aap toh mujhse baat nahi karahe hai, toh kya main khud se bhi baat nahi karsakthi," she said. Before Asad could answer, "Ek baat baatayiye Mr. Khan...if you don't want to be here then why are you?" Zoya questioned hurt. Asad could see the pain transcend in her beautiful eyes. "Maine kya kiya hai?" he wondered out loud. Zoya couldn't believe it. Great! He didn't even know what he did, and here I am expecting him to spend time with me, she thought.
Without saying anything, Zoya picked up what she needed from the counter and walked off. Asad felt bad. He didn't mean to hurt her. He was just waiting for her to finish shopping, what was wrong in that? Girls were weird...especially his wife, he concluded as he followed her. Zoya was too fast and she was already in line at the cashier. Asad had to go around to the front of the store as there was a line behind Zoya and he couldn't get to her. Asad waited till it was Zoya's turn at the register and walked up to her. She didn't even acknowledge his presence and kept talking to the lady at the register. When it was time to pay, Zoya pulled out the money but he held her hand, "I will pay," he offered. "Kohi zaroorat nahi hai," Zoya said as she shrugged his hand away and paid for the groceries. Asad was angry but he didn't say anything as there were people around. After paying, Zoya took the bags and started walking. "Zoya, give me some of the bags," Asad said. "Mujhe aapki help nahi chahiye. I can do it myself," she told him. That did it! Asad was furious with her behavior. He held her wrist and started dragging her with him. "Mr. Khan, chodiye mujhe! What are you doing?" Zoya yelled. Asad kept pulling her with him without saying anything. "Asad...let me go!" Zoya said again. "Enough!" Asad roared as they reached their car. Zoya stepped back at his reaction. "Chup chap gaadi mein baito," he ordered. She didn't reply but she didn't move from her spot either. Asad looked at her and she stared back with no fear. He took the bags from her, placed them in the trunk. Asad then held her hand and took her to the passenger seat. Zoya got in having no choice. Closing the door, Asad came to the other side and got into the driver's seat. He started driving and both of them sat in silence.
As he stopped at a red light, Asad turned to see his wife sobbing quietly. Why was she crying? He thought worried. As the light turned green, Asad pulled over to the side of the road and stopped. "Zoya, why are you crying?" he asked. She just cried harder. "Zoya...," Asad said concerned. All his anger went out the window seeing his wife cry. Now, he was just worried. "I miss Ammi and Abu," Zoya hiccupped, but she still wasn't looking at him. Asad removed his seat belt and moved closer to his wife. "Zoya...look at me, please," he requested. "Nahi! I don't want to talk to you. Aap bahut mean hai," she cried. "What? Maine kya kiya hai?" Asad asked innocently. "You are so dumb Asad!" she accused. He looked at her shocked. Asad wanted to counter her with something but couldn't. "I came to your office kyun ki main aapke saath kuch tume spend karna chathi thi. Main apni dost hoon, biwi hoon but main aapke baare mein kuch nahi jaanti. I mean all I have seen is your anger and...I just wanted to know other things about you," she told him. His lips curved into a smile listening to her innocent confession. "You wanted to spend time with me?" Asad asked fascinated. Zoya realized what she had said, "Allah miyan, what's wrong with me?" she said, covering her red face with her palms. Asad just shook his head at her dramatics. "Agar tume mere saath time spend hi karna tha toh mujhe bol diya hota, shopping ley jaane ki kya zaroorat thi? I don't like shopping," he stated. Zoya peeked out from the closure of her hands. Did he just say that she could spend time with him? she thought shocked. "And I didn't even know that," Zoya pouted. Asad chuckled, "agar tume kuch jaana tha toh sirf poochna hi toh tha," he said. "But I want to learn this stuff not just ask and get to know," Zoya said. "What's the difference?" Asad asked, confused. "There is Mr. Khan. Pooch ne se jawaab mil jayega but that is not the same jab bina pooche bhi jawaab mil jaye," Zoya explained. Asad were surprised at her words. He hadn't thought for her to say something so mature. She was different than he expected. Zoya just smiled at him. Asad moved back into the seat and started driving again.
As they pulled into the Khan driveway, Asad could see her still smiling. "Tum theek ho right?" he asked worried. "Yeah, I just wish keh Ammi Abu yehi reha the," she replied. Asad took her hand in his, "I know keh this is hard, but agar Ammi waha nahi jayengi toh theek kaise hongi. And jab Ammi theek hojayengi toh I will bring them back here," he told her. "Saach?" Zoya asked excitedly. Asad nodded, and she grinned further. "Thanks Asad, and I am sorry keh main aise hi aapke office aagayi," Zoya said sheepishly. "Its fine, chalo," Asad said, and they both got off the car. When they entered the living room, Dilshad rushed up to them. "Zoya, Kaha chali gaye thi tum? Kabh se phone karahi hoon?" she said. "Sorry Ammi, woh main Asad keh office chali gayi thi aur phir hum shopping karahe the, time ka paata nahi chala," Zoya explained. "Asad shopping gaya tha? Tumare saath?" Dilshad asked, trying to make sure she had heard it correctly. Zoya nodded while Asad sighed, knowing how much his mother was going to tease him. "Mujhe nahi paata tha keh mera beta shopping bhi karta hai, humare saath koh toh kabhi nahi kiya," Dilshad said. Zoya giggled while Asad glared at his mother. "Woh Ammi, mujhe jaana nahi tha. Woh toh Zoya ne aapki di huwi list mere office mein chodi thi," he firmly stated. "Accha...toh aapko mere saath nahi rehna tha?" Zoya said, placing her hands on her lips. Asad pinched the bridge of his nose. Don't say a word, his brain warned. "Main change karne jaraha hoon," Asad said and walked off, but he could hear his wife and mother laughing behind him.
The next morning, Asad, Zoya, and Dilshad had gone to pick up Najma from the airport. Najma saw them waiting at the door and ran into the arms of her mother. "Ammi," she said happily. "Kaisi hai meri beti?" Dilshad asked, pecking her forehead. "Bahut acchi," Najma replied with a grin. She then hugged Asad, who also embraced her and kissed her forehead. Zoya pulled Najma in a tight hug. "I missed you," Zoya said. "Me too!" Najma said. "Accha...chalo ghar chalte hai," Asad told everyone. They all headed towards Khan Mansion. Najma and Imran were supposed to stay here for the day, then Imran's parents were coming over for dinner in the evening. After which, Najma was supposed to go to her in-laws. Later that afternoon, Zoya and Najma were in the backyard, sitting in the swing. "Toh honeymoon kaisa tha?" Zoya teased. "Please...stop it!" Najma said, blushing. "Awww...you are blushing," Zoya giggled. "Jab aap Bhaijaan keh saath honeymoon par jayengi na toh main apna badla lungi," Najma retorted. Zoya turned pink hearing the Asad's name and honeymoon in the same sentence. "It's good to see you blush too," Najma said. "Tumare bhaijaan koh bolti hoon keh Najma suggest karahi hai keh hum honeymoon par jaaye," Zoya said seriously. "What? No!" Najma said shocked. Zoya laughed at her friend. "That wasn't funny," Najma said. "Of course it was," Zoya said, sticking her tongue out. "Ek minute...aap aur bhaijaan kab se? I mean...woh aur aap," Najma fumbled, not able to find the right words. Zoya smiled, "things have changed since you left," she said. "What? Tell me...everything!" Najma said, excitedly. Zoya didn't know where to start. She also didn't know if she should tell Najma everything. She was her best friend but Asad was her husband. "Zyada kuch nahi, bas main aur tumare bhaijaan aabh dost hai," Zoya stated. "What? You two are friends? But, I thought you hated him," Najma said, surprised. "Maybe I did, but I don't anymore. Tumare bhaijaan jitney akdu mujhe lagthe the utne toh hai nahi," Zoya said, shyly tucking her hair behind her ear. "Wow...I missed a lot!
