Why does people who loves masala films considered to be dumb??

I think Bollywood is an entertainment medium so why does people who likes masala films considered to be dumb.I mean if we will start making all critically acclaimed films it will get boring,and this conception that if you don't like a film that critics like than you have some low IQ is something I don't understand.

Unfortunately, I was one of those people with the holier-than-thou attitude. I really judged people who like masala movies. But that changed when I went to India for two months and watched Bodyguard. It was so much fun!! Everyone was whistling and cheering and I realized that masala movies are much needed break from the stressful routine lives we live.

I love larger than life things and the whole peppy song sequences that makes you wanna get up and dance! <3

Masala films are different from the brainless comedies/entertainment that tests audiences' intelligence and patience.. Masala films are those films which has a combination of more than 2 genres in a single film.. I love masala films, something I can enjoy and forget my worries for sometime.. Apparently, Main Hoon Na was classified as a masala film.. That is one good masala film.. Recent ones I enjoyed are Rowdy Rathore, Bodyguard & Singham.. Ofcourse those who watches films like Himmatwala(new), Humshakkals are indeed dumb.. Dumb enough to watch them..😆😉

Well made masala movies are always appreciated. I think the major gripe some people have about the genre is that more often than not masala films tend to be sexist, filled with cheap jokes and vulgarity.

I love CE alot because it is one of those rare masala movies which dont have any of the things I stated above. It is a very cute film with a wonderful performance from the female lead.

Having said that, I must admit that I kind of enjoy the crass ones too like wanted and rowdy rathod. 😆

Well .. masala films are for people who watch films for pure entertainment .. i.e. when they want a break from the usual grinds of life .. it's like a few hours of no-thinking-required break .. there are people who watch both the masala films and the intellectual ones .. the first one for pure entertainment and the second one for the brain's curiosity. Nothing wrong with it.

bollywood or any film industry is a mixture of all types of movies ! each type has its own audience !! and in real world majority loves to watch masala movies as it gives some stress relief and laugh at some funny scenes but only on this forum some people consider masala movies as dumb ,when it comes to their rival stars !😆at the same time their favs masala movies are art worthy !

The movie, I admit with a lot of regret, is immensely entertaining!! 😆No arguments about that. I cant classify it as a bad movie because the entertainment factor is 100% there.

But there are some issues with the film and how women were portrayed there. Remember Akshay trying to pinch Sonakshi's tummy at every given opportunity?😕

What was that supposed to be? Romance?
