They overdid everything. Because Salman-Suraj were coming after long time, they wanted to make everything special. Royal story, grandeur, too much promotions ... Yes, it had the old sanskar and other stuff. But it lost the old simplicity. These days, Khans are killing their old charm by overdoing the simple things.

Second. In Bhartajya movies, songs carry the story and are integral parts. This time, nobody spoke highly of the songs barring Jalte Diye. Himesh let this down.

It under-performed because it didn't do Blockbuster business, or because it didn't become the highest grossing movie of all time?

195 (BOI) 210 (Taran) - probs the lifetime - is that under performing?

Apart from Krrish 3, we haven't had a Blockbuster movie during Diwali season since Golmaal 3 back in 2010. 2009 had an Average ATB; 2010 had Golmaal 3 (BB); 2011 had a Hit in Ra One; 2012 had Hits in JTHJ/SOS; 2013 had a BB in Krrish 3; 2014 had a Super Hit in HNY; and now 2015 will have a Hit/Super Hit in PRDP.

2 BBs in the last 7 years during Diwali suggests that it's not the best period any more. Eid and Christmas period seem more lucrative these days.

The movie didn't match BB/PK because of the content and Sooraj's over-indulgence. He tried to cram everything in one movie to make it appear as his magnum opus. And, the movie was a hotch-potch of emotions. I felt like I was watching a soap than a movie.

But then, you also need to look at the movies that have crossed 200 crores:

- PK (Satire/Comedy)
- BB (Social Drama)
- Dhoom 3 (Action/Heist)
- Kick (Action/Masala)
- CE (Masala)
- 3I (Satire/Comedy)

If we go by BOI figures, it's the 7th highest grossing movie of all time. And, don't forget that the movie is Family Drama. No family drama has done 150 crores, let alone 200.

And, look at other BBs - ETT (Action/Espionage), YJHD (Rom-Com), Krrish 3 (Action/Sci-Fi), Dabbang (Masala), Dabbang 2 (Masala), Bodyguard (Romance/Action), Rowdy Rathod (Masala), TWMR (Rom-Com/Drama), Ready (Comedy), Golmaal 3 (Comedy)...

You won't find a family melodrama there. So, how is that under-performing?

I know what you're getting at. I'm just questioning our expectations.

You should consider the people associated with the film.Salman-Sooraj combination.A family drama film.When a film's collections keep dropping from 39 cr day 1 to 10cr day 5 to 4 cr day8.This is called underperformance.This film was touted to be the record grosser.Hiked ticket prices,more screens than previous diwali films,2 open weeks and the collections are embarrassing.
