Dear Shyamala,

One fundamental doubt after reading all the comments about Jalal's ignorance of the Kali Ma temple loot -- Does that place come under the jurisdiction of the Moghul sultanate or is under the Rajputs? If the latter is true, how can the moghul soldiers attack the temple like bandits?

It was in the Mughal sultanate, Akka, in Subedar Sharifuddin's jurisdiction of Mewat, adjoining Amer. It was right across the Amer border. This was mentioned by Mainavati in Episode 2, I think, when Jodha is seeking permission to visit the temple on her birthday. She wants to refuse permission as it is outside their borders and she thinks it is unsafe.

If the Mughal soldiers had raided a Hindu temple within the territory of a Rajput riyasat, that would have furnished a casus belli for the Rajput ruler involved. This was not so in this case, though it would still have been a cause for social and religious outrage for the Rajputs as a whole, and strengthened the image of Jalal as a jallad!

Musings of a Forum member:

* Why have I become addicted to JA forum so much? ... I start my day , with a cup of coffee in my hand browsing the site for new posts, and why do I get excited whenever I come across beautiful comments? There is always a need to have some incentive or a catalyst to trigger us, and propel us to enjoy what we see and learn. Are Shyamala's posts the said incentive? Or the interesting comments put forth by the members on her posts? Or both?

*What will happen to me when it stops all of a sudden one day? I cannot think about the impact it will have on me ! It will be like being left alone in the wilderness! With my eyes and hands bound with a cloth! It will be like irredeemably losing my eyesight suddenly due to glaucoma...Oh God ! have mercy on me!

*Then what is the possible way out? The number of episodes she has to take up for her analysis per week and the volume of readership has become inversely proportional! But she can consider the suggestions made by her very ardent followers like Lavanya and Prem . Even if the readership is seen much reduced when compared to her earlier posts in 2013, almost all the readers who press the "like" button send their comments. Does not an "A" grade performer of music , who always performs to a big audience also sings in the Akashwani studio in front of mikes without an audience? Because the artiste knows doubtlessly that his/her music will reach quite a number of listeners who are connoisseurs of music , and who are his/her indisputable admirers. The artiste gets the same satisfaction while performing within a chamber as he/she gets in doing it front of a huge audience. Similary, Shyamala may be having quite a no. of fans who are not quite active in the forum, like me before September, but will be enjoying her beautiful and thought provoking analyses of the episodes. Instead of doing lengthy concerts, the artiste can do shorter ones, choosing her/his favourite raga and present its nuances by explaining the intricacies in it. This will be more welcomed by everyone.

* But as regular attenders of the concerts, don't we have some responsibility? Why don't we make it a point to write a few words about the delectable banquet we were given to enjoy without any cost?

My dear Mitali,

Thank you very much, my dear, for this warm, touching message, which clearly comes straight from the heart. I was really charmed and moved by its simplicity and by your generous appreciation of my posts.

I am so glad that you enjoy not just the main narrative in these posts, but also the side details with which I freely embellish them. I find a lot of fun to dig these up and insert them in my posts, and I am always pleased when someone else finds them so as well.

Do not let your modesty about your writing skills hold you back from commenting, either about my posts or about the serial itself. I would love to hear from you regularly and in as much detail as you can manage. I shall value that as much as any other comment made here.

I will try and continue with these posts for as long as I can manage it, and I shall be looking seriously into the suggestions made by myviewprem.

Shyamala Aunty

Thank you Di for continue this post. like my post and encouraging me for writing . I will surly do that.

My dear Soumya,

I love your name. I am sure you know what it means in Sanskrit, a gentle, pleasing personality.

As for your comments, especially about Rajat's Jalal and about Ekta's Jodha, I agree with you in toto. For me, Rajat was a revelation, as I had never seen him before, and I was quite blown away! I still am, and this time around, I notice the small details in his performance, like the way he says, when Hamida tells him to get Jodha to do the aarti when he is leaving for the battle against Sujanpur, Jaise aap kahein, Ammijaan! There were so many shades in that 10 second clip!

As for Jodha not realising that a king cannot keep track of all that is happening in his kingdom, and can thus not be held personally responsible for them, that is typical of her. Plus she is convinced that Jalal's evident surprise when informed about the Kali temple having been looted by Mughal soldiers is a sham.

The part of your comments that I have bolded now is very interesting. I had not thought of that myself, but it is spot on. Not that this Jodha is capable of such logical thinking!

I am very glad that you enjoy my posts so much. They are not for everyone, as they are very long and demand a lot of close attention. That you like them to this extent says as much about you as about my posts.

You are one of the very few of my readers, both in 2013 and now, who specially liked the Gordian Knot parallel !

I have PMed you for my latest, Irregular progression, for Episodes 89-92, which I put up this afternoon. See if you like this one.

Take care, my dear Soumya, and do write in from time to time.

Aunty, I really admire ur conviction to do these posts even though u r not 100% fit physically n already lost some of the enthu.. for this show. It is very tiresome indeed to do these analyses. I'll definitely miss ur writings if u stop these posts. They have all the ingredients to make them look like wonderful stories which u read repeatedly n cherish. they r for keeping Aunty😃 I really didn't know about the original incident with Alexander about The Gordian Knot. That's very interesting info. Coming to the Kali Mandir incident, It really shows the true self of the Real Akbar The Great. Am happy that in these earlier episodes, atleast EK tried to show some of the qualities of the real Akbar n his ideology n vision for this Land n its people. One thing I really don't get is that how come Jodha didn't understand his disbelief when she is narrating the destruction of the temple by his men n blames him as the culprit who ordered this himself? Am not saying that he is not responsible for this as the Emperor he is more responsible. That's ok . But my point here is being a princess, she has to be perceptive enough to understand the procedures followed by the army n how the king will be informed of the happenings in his kingdom. She knows clearly that the king cannot get the info regarding all the happenings in his kingdom as it is, as some times his orders will be implemented differently. There r always manipulators, traitors n all who really wish to create unrest n remove the king from his throne. Having her conditions accepted by him unconditionally before marriage, she has the first hand knowledge about him, how he thinks w.r.t. these religious matters. Oops.. I forgot that we r talking about EK's JO Begum who is a modern day Human rights activist not one of the three Empress Consorts of the mighty Emperor Akbar.😆 Sorry for the rant Aunty. I always felt that in this show she is not a royal princess.

For me she is a normal modern day woman.
Reg. RT, he is the only one who made me watch this crap of a show with his sheer brilliance n his own style to present the historical figure Akbar The Great. I am not watching all the episodes in re-run. am more selective as I cannot bear the torture in the name of NR.
Thank u for the info reg. Gordian Knot. Take good care of ur health.
love,
soumya

Not at all, my dear, though I must say I was looking for you, for I miss your unfailing little notes! This time, it is longer than usual, 😉 which pleased me!

The Kali mandir scene was not just fantastic, it was of great, indeed vital importance for the journey of Jalal towards becoming Akbar. I am happy that you liked that part of the post particularly!

Thank you Aunty. Even though I do things quite opposite to my name to annoy my hubby, most of the times I try to be pleasant😉.

U r right . we can always find new small nuances in his performance while watching repeatedly. u never feel bored. May be that's fangirl thing...😉even though we missed tht kind of a look from our Jo Begum in this entire series. Very recently I watched one VM made by one of the forum friends. In it they used the famous Jo's lunch date after the conversion issue. when she says, if HB didn't support, then what would've happened he immediately says he would've. Aftr that dialogue, his single look gives u an array of feelings he has in his heart.

This parallel is absolutely correct in case of Akbar .

I already pressed my like button aunty.

I'll try my level best since in ur threads I always find most of the people's opinions pretty much similar to mine.
