Jingle belles

Navaratri is a great time for our TV stars to earn quick bucks. The stars relate their experiences to Ranjib Mazumder, while event management companies tell us just how much they earn

Sudha Chandran

This year, I am doing Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, so it's been really difficult managing my time. But, every year I do get a lot of invitations for making appearances at Navaratri celebrations. I am too old to perform at the events, so I just inaugurate them. I go for events only if I personally know the people who invite me.

Mumbai : Rs 45,000 to Rs 50,000

Out of Mumbai : Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh

Manish Goyal and Poonam Narula

Every year, we attend a few Navararti celebrations. After Nach Baliye, a lot of people want to see us perform at dandiya fests. So, we have been performing of late. It's a great opportunity for us to gauge our popularity. The money we charge is negotiable, and greatly depends on the budget of the event. When we go out of Mumbai to perform, the charges are a little high, as it requires travelling, for us.

Mumbai: Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh
Out of Mumbai: Rs 1 lakh and above

Yash and Gauri Tonk

We do perform at Navaratri and Durga puja functions. Yash usually decides our fees, which depends on how many days we have to take off from our work. However, spending time with our fans has always been a great experience and we both love it.

Mumbai: Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh
Out of Mumbai: Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh

Chetan Hansraj

I am very selective when it comes to making appearances at public functions. If it's an acquaintance inviting me, I charge very little money. My charge is not much in Mumbai, but if I have to go abroad, it would be quite high. Last year, I went to Canada where I had great fun with my fans and also earned a fat sum of money. This year, I am making only two appearances, as I am busy with my Tamil film for which I am shooting in Hyderabad.

Mumbai: Rs 75,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh
Out of Mumbai: Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh

Mouli Ganguly

I am not comfortable with the idea of performing during Navratri. So, most often, I either perform the opening ceremonies at these events, or I judge contests in the pandals. My charges differ from place to place and people to people. The money also depends on the number of hours I spend at the pandals.

Mumbai: Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000
Out of Mumbai: Rs 1 lakh to 1,50,000

Mihir and Maninee Mishra

After Nach Baliye, we have been getting a lot of offers from organisers to perform during the dandiya season. We went to the US last year, both for full-fledged performances and for guest appearances. Our fees depend on the number of performances and the time we give to each event.

Mumbai: Rs 1 lakh
Out of Mumbai: Rs 2 lakh and above

Rajeev and Delnaaz Paul

After Nach Baliye, every year we have been flooded with offers from different organisers in and out of Mumbai, for appearances at dandiya fests. Gujaratis really love TV actors and they invite a lot of celebrities to their functions. However, we prefer to performs on stage, not amongst the crowds. At most, about 10 couples come up on stage to play dandiya with us. If the crowds are small, only then do we dance amongst them.

Mumbai: Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh
Out of Mumbai: Rs 3 lakh and Rs 5 lakh
