Not to say the other family isn't simple, but he doesn't think so. He has a very rigid definition of how things should be and if things fall out of it, he isn't ready to accept that or even think about accepting it.

He has a major complaint to Surinder every time, that she always gets her way and convinces him. We can safely assume that the move was coerced by Surinder and left to himself, Kulwinder would be content in Amritsar. So he did make some compromise, but this new step has him scared. He is worried that if everything changes, the family values and the peace will be lost. Fear prevents him from seeing sense.

Seeing Raj's family does nothing but fuel his fear more. He doesn't like their lifestyle a bit and is worried that that's what they have in future if he stays here. That's why this decision. It's a desperate cry of a desperate man trying to hold on to things in a changing environment.

Needless to say they aren't going anywhere. Even if they left, they will have to come back because they would have left Jassi behind. 😆

Good to be back with discussions with you FT..😊

I completely understand Kulwinder's state and in fact I sympathise him. No one seems to be understanding his state. He is a man who likes his lifestyle, loves it actually. He believes in service and Gurudwara and teachings. For a man like him, city life would be too much to handle. He would have of course heard about all disadvantages in city life and everywhere he turns, he would see that. It would be more like...he sees what he wants to see.

Surinder definitely gets her way and somewhere may be, Kulwinder feels he doesn't deserve a women like Surinder? Outspoken and smart...Someone like Ria in her childhood. It could be inferiority complex and seeing Nikki's family just fueled that a lot more.

He needs time to settle down but Surinder wants changes every minute. They aren't going anywhere but he needs some breathing space. Also...it seems like he is always outnumbered in the family...😆

@bold Good one...😆

I understand that, he loves the simple life without all the flashy stuff. Well, there's nothing wrong in that. But admitting kids to private school won't change them all that much. Nobody is asking him to change their whole lifestyle. Since it's about education, he was only asked to put them in a better school. And it's not an unjustified request. Though I would like to mention that I don't think Ria's school is the only alternative, some cheaper school would do.

Well, with her comparing everytime, of course he will get a feeling that what he is doing isn't enough for her. He shouldn't see it as a rivalry though, the point of a better school is strictly for the kids. He isn't being asked to change other things.

Suri should see other alternatives also. But I liked the point Kulwinder mentioned. Now it's this big school...then expensive clothes and things would follow...and expenses for extra curricular projects and things like that...Workshops, Seminars like the way you said. He can give the option of looking at other schools, but joining Jassi in Ria's school would be a bad idea- which ultimately is going to happen..😆

Yes, there I agree, a better school doesn't mean Ria's school only. They should try to find an affordable one.

Of course it has to happen. 😆
