None of those movies sold solely based of her name, the way Khans sell movies . Especially not in 2013 where Deepika was a non-factor. That the movies she was part of all released in the same year is quite a matter of getting lucky & being solely credited for their success is a matter of having a team that knows how to sell & brand. There is a reason why she said herself in IVs that she considers Cocktail as the start of her career. Me, i look @ the script. Only Ram Leela was about her character AND Veers. So they share the success. Even in YJHD it is all about Bir finding himself & Bir was coming of back to back successes so even if they used their exes situation to hype the movie, it was definitely in the news coz it was Bir movie, first & foremost..
Denial is STRONG with you. BUT if u go by this year & tell me this, i will conceed it to you to an extent, since Piku is about Piku & her struggles. Success is equally on her costars tho, coz Deepika ALWAYS worked with proven hit names, be it directors or co-actors But ya, Piku is HER movie in ways FFF was not. Tamasha might be the same IF it is again about her, not Bir searching for himself & finding her. BM will definitely be her movie ...along Veer & PC.
As is, Deepika Padukone is NOWHERE near the level of a Khan. The day she makes a movie solely based on her name with lesser successful or known actors / Directors a BB, that day she will be the superstar her team claims she is. She is working towards being number 1 actress, backed all the way up by her infamous lobby for roles in Khans & all big director movies. Wisely she is mixing in "small movies", even if those are always with biggies or forever relevant names. She aint there yet. But i shall not be the one to stop you from dreaming.
PS:
I know how she lobbied coz MANY actresses talked about this, she herself said how she got in CE & HNY. Let us not forget her infamous claims for many movies as being first choice... only to have the heroines in them come out & deny the claims. & there are threads on that here on IF... unless they got thrashed😆
