Chapter 4 [A]

The Hidden Scar

Khushi got up as morning sunshine caressed her milky cheeks, she tried to get some peaceful darkness so that she could sleep again but it was of no use as her sleep had vanished. Rubbing her eyes she got up b-but this was not her room! She looked around to see Arnav's pics all over the room and realization downed her mind that she was sleeping cuddling to Arnav whole night! She looked at her left side Arnav had already got up, she got up to fold the blanket and tighten the bed sheet that was a bit improper!

She heard shower from inside the bathroom.. So Arnav is there! She just paced across the big room till Arnav came out!

"Hey good morning!", she started as she wanted him to talk to her and maybe somehow open up about the things buried in his heart deep

"Good morning!", he let out a wide grin like nothing has happened making Khushi realize that he didn't want to go into much detail of his sudden outburst so she decided to wait until he himself opens up!

Arnav came close to Khushi with a bit darkened eyes and cupped her face, "Khushi kal raat humare beech! (yesterday night between us!)", he moved closer and moved his thumb across her lips that was wet as he hadn't dried himself and was in only one towel!

"Kuch nahi hua! (Nothing happened!)", she screamed and kicked him at his thigh really hard as he withered in pain!

"Okay fine I know that!", he made a puppy face and both burst into some fists of chuckles

"Never ever try those movie dialogues on me and you know what you are shameless!", she said eyeing him with a yuck expression

"Why it turns you on?", he winked coming close to her again

"Your thigh has already turned black and blue!", she folded her arms across her chest making him realize he should stop flirting

"Okay fine, What will you have in breakfast?", he said wearing his t shirt but he got stuck while passing it through his neck

In order to help him she pulled the shirt down his neck, unknowingly her fingers touched his collar bone making him feel ticklish and he giggled

"That's your soft spot?", she asked popping her brows

"Hmm yes girlfriend... go and gossip with your friends!", he winked and smirked as usual making her roll her eyebrows, "Okay fine what will you take in your tummy my pseudo future children's mummy?", he flirted again and she gave him plain looks as usual

"Hmm nothing, I am not hungry right now I will just go back home to get ready even Ridhi is coming today" Khushi couldn't stop a big grin that lit up her face on mere mention of her best friend who was out of the town so long due to some of her family personal matter!

"Yeah she is categorized under your close friend's list on FB"

"Ofcourse she is!"

"It will be interesting to meet her! But Khushi she shouldn't come to know about the pseudo thing we have!", Arnav warned her and she nodded

Khushi freshened up a bit to get out of her morning laziness, well thanks to her sixth sense that she always carried her face-wash, cherry blossom lip balm and bunch of tissue paper along with her everywhere she go as na jane kab kaise kya ho jaye she cannot sit with an oily face if any such emergency arises!

As Khushi went downstairs she saw Mrs. Raizada or rather caught her looking in the direction of Arnav's room furtively. Khushi felt a pang of hatred and her heart clenched at the feeling how could a woman stoop so low by ditching her own family she felt she deserved the worst in the world for whatever she did but that was just for a fraction of few seconds! Guilt downed her senses when she realized how bitter her thoughts grew for the lady who is elder and she barely knows courtesy her pseudo boyfriend and his father's business associate!

No mother will like her son to disown her but Arnav was not completely wrong too maybe Mrs. Raizada too knew it so she felt guilty to face her own blood! Even Arnav loved his mom deeply she had seen it in his eyes but maybe he too couldn't face his mom out of fear that he may not respect and love her as he did before that black day!

"Aunty I am leaving!", Khushi smiled expecting some questions regarding her overnight stay at their residence but to her surprise it did not come instead she was shocked that Arnav's mother kissed her forehead and asked her to keep visiting before into some room that was probably her bedroom!

Involuntarily Khushi followed her as she didn't miss the hidden tears in the elder lady's eyes who after entering a room held a photo-frame near her chest crying bitterly chanting sorry like a mantra. It was when she kept the photo back on shelf Khushi realized it was their family photo! Deep in mind Khushi felt like invading their personal matter but her legs refused to turn around the other way!

"I am sorry.. Kill me, beat me, abandon me but please talk to me!", the lady said before she fell on her knees, Khushi felt to go to hold her but stopped herself in time as she felt someone coming as a result she immediately moved towards the living room!

"Khushi you still here?", Arnav said coming down he was fully ready to go to college with his bag

"Hmm errr actually... I am...!"

"Khushi what's wrong?"

"Well I am just waiting to take leave from your Mo... I mean Mrs. Raizada", she felt Arnav's expression change

"That's not needed!", Arnav said as he almost dragged Khushi out holding her by arms

Arnav had gone to their Bungalow parking to take his car as Khushi waited near the gates

"Arnav baba came to his house after almost three months!", a lady probably a maid came to Khushi and began conversation

"So maybe this is the reason why Mrs. Raizada kissed me! She met her son or atleast saw him after long!" thought Khushi and followed the lady as she go to water the plants

"After three months?"

"Yes malkin saheba is left extremely alone as neither her husband nor her son visits her, she feels that they are not even bothered to see whether she is alive or dead", the maid stopped as she thought Khushi might complain about her and Khushi sensed her doubts.

"Don't worry I won't complain aunty!", she assured smilingly making the elderly lady continue

"I am here since Mr. Raizada got married, he always wanted to become more and more rich and add things to his status! He hardly paid attention to his house or family Malkin used to sit very lonely for hours waiting for him!", every line the maid uttered Khushi recalled her mother in very same situation

"she thought things will change a bit when their son was born but still Mr. Raizada didn't even come to see his new born, it was just two years back I saw her happy when she had made friends with Mr. Rudra Avasthi but all of a sudden even he stopped coming here!", Khushi though that may be this person Avasthi is the one whom Arnav caught his mother from whatever knowledge Khushi got about Mrs. Raizada from her mother was that she was never interested into club or disco like her mom to kill her time... So maybe she found solace in another man?!

She was buried in her thought when she heard the honk of the horn outside the gate

"Well you go and get ready and then we will go to college together!", Khushi nodded silently as Arnav turned to the direction of her home.

They did a bit flirty a bit nonsense bakabak as usual in their way to Khushi's house teasing and enjoying throughout!

At the gate itself Khushi was surprised to see Ridhi waiting for her

"FAIRY!", she screamed and both hugged each other

"Fairy meet Arnav!", Khushi introduced them, Arnav stretched his hand for a handshake but Ridhi waved at him dryly with a bit angry glare that Arnav noticed and the stubborn clad forcefully pulled her hand and shake it with an extra tight grip that hurt Ridhi a bit but she did not utter an ouch!'.

"So Arnav what are your hobbies?"

Arnav was startled at this question to be first but yet he answered

"Acting!", he said confidently

"and forcing others too!", she whispered in an inaudible voice making Arnav frown he turned to Khushi and asked did she tell Ridhi anything, Khushi nodded in no ofcourse she was lying being childhood besties she never did hide anything from Ridhi but still she didn't know why Ridhi was overacting so much!

Getting answer from Khushi Arnav saw Ridhi in his signature frowned What-the?' expression with right eye popped out

"Err nothing go to hell!", she saw his expressions and said

"Yep sure but only when you are not present there!", Arnav said mockingly

Khushi watched it pinching her eyebrows and swallowing her own saliva!

This is gonna be real tough!

"Bloody crap!", he spat turning back in anger with Khushi as Ridhi didn't miss a chance to taunt him, she wasn't joining the college today as she was having her share of dizziness and slight fever which Arnav thought she very well deserved and thanked her jetlag a million times that he won't see that idiotic face atleast for some more days!

"Khushi my baby take care, there are a lot of morons jumping here and there in this area!", she said pin pointing at someone who understood what she meant.. My God if looks could kill these two would have been surely dead!

"Let's leave darling!", saying Khushi pulled him by his arm to put a full-stop to these eye war the two people were having; she should have had thought about this before.. How could Ridhi be okay with someone who has trapped her best friend? Though she told Ridhi that she was actually dating Arnav to calm her down but Ridhi was too furious over that video thing and she was sure she will give that guy whoever did that a tough time!

"She is sooo..."

"No cussing her in front of me Arnav!"

"Who? ...that Dumb. B*tchy. Fox?"

"No. Cussing. Her!"

"Why are you so possessive over her?", he popped his eyebrows teasingly

"Shut Up!", she rolled her eyes

"Hey. Hey. Hey I was thinking about this so long why she is cold and dry towards me... so this is the bloody reason huh?!", he winked, "How can you be two timer Khushi?", he banged his head on the staring wheel of his car dramatically

"Shut up Mr. Raizada!", she said plainly

"Okay okay chill", he giggled and leaned towards her ears, "It's so true that love has got no boundaries .. no limits", Khushi punched him really hard as he sang that bold line dramatically.

"Ouch...Khushi no need to hide anything from me baby!", he pulled her cheeks cutely

"I am not that kind of girl", she said drawing double quotation marks with her first two fingers stressing on word that

"Okay you may not be that but she surely can be... gossh she was so utterly possessive that you had to drag her inside your room to explain something!", he said making Khushi recall the incidence when she took Ridhi upstairs and told the biggest lie of the year that she is actually dating Arnav now!

"Yuckkk... she is not lesbian!"

"YUCK?! Khoooshiii you are such an anti-feminist", he said and laughed like a hell

"Enough... I will go to college myself!", she said when finally her nose turned red with anger and she reached her saturation

"Okay you will go to the college by cab then?"

"No!", she said while Arnav saw her confusingly before she took his bag and threw out of the window!

"Khooshiii!", saying he mimicked her taking her bag and both immediately rushed out taking their respective bags.. they came in anger in front of the car's bonnet ... glared at each other with anger... and burst out laughing.. (<<These two are crazy😆)

"Miss Gupta..," their teacher Mrs Thakur called her out

"Good Morning ma'am" she greeted as after she went near her while Arnav left towards the canteen

"Good morning, if you are free can you just dictate the marks? Actually your language teacher is on leave and I have to make the result by the end of this week!"

"Yes sure ma'am!", she smiled wide

"24!", she said the marks of the next roll number

"What are you sure? Show me", saying teacher snatched the paper and it was real the person got 24.. It was Arnav who freaking topped in languages! Khushi gulped as she thought she will be caught that she flipped Arnav's paper with the next number but her teacher was way too shocked looking at the marks to cross-check the name! As anticipated Mrs. Thakur called Arnav to her cabin. Ofcourse coz he was her favorite student, the next step would be she asking him to call his dad but as his dad was out for some tour he would have to talk to his mother!

"May I come in madam?"

"What is this Raizada?", the shock stuck woman didn't even follow the etiquettes to call him inside first making his eyes and mouth open almost in equal size

"What happened ma'am?", he was shocked would be an understatement

"I DIDN'T EXPECT THIS FROM YOU RAIZADA!", and here Khushi thought her plan would fail as the misunderstanding will be cleared very next second, that was really foolish of her! She whispered her prayers to her most trusted authority... Who? >> Her Devi Mayya!

"I am sorry ma'am!", Arnav said as he thought it's wiser decision to apologize seeing his fuming teacher before knowing his mistake, this resulted in his teacher taking it according to her own mind that Arnav is guilty!

"Sorry won't work call your dad!

"WHAT?", he screamed keeping his tone low ofcourse (<< hell is it possible to keep tone low while screaming?😕 But lets assume Arnav had manners in front of his teacher😆)

"You got me correct the first time Raizada!"

"Ma'am my dad is out for some tour!"

"Then mom? Call her it's really urgent that you come on your own tracks before it get late", she said adjusting her specks oblivion to the fact that her every word was a puzzle to his ears!

"B-But how can I talk to her?", he said inaudibly

"What did you say?" , Mrs. Thakur was fuming even now

"Okay.. I will call her", then he eyed Khushi who was internally doing lungi dance on her victory but managed her face to look serious (#perfectactor) and asked her with the actions what's wrong to which she shrugged her shoulders hinting she doesn't have any idea!

"You know what's wrong with that hitler?", he said dialing some number but was still annoyed as he still didn't knew what he has done so wrong!?

"Err no she excused herself for a while and then when she came she called you!", Khushi lied

And a silence spread as the phone ringed and the person at other end picked up with happiness as that name flashed on her mobile screen after eternity.. 15 seconds...30 seconds...1 minute he didn't speak and finally hanged the phone!

"This is disgusting... I don't want to talk to her!", he spat angrily but there was no venom in his words as he loved his mom dearly despite anything!

"BUT YOU HAVE TO!", she screamed making him look at her with some plain expressions, "I- I m-mean you have to or else you won't be able to attend lectures!", she said making him nod

But it was clear to her that a talk can only be the balm for his and his mother's hidden scar that had to be cured though she sensed his awkwardness as first of all he will be talking to his mom after so long and that top cos he wanna tell her that principle has to give her a long complain list about his wrong doings which he didn't even know what? #Courtesy ofcourse the great herself aka Khushi Kumari Gupta.
