CHAPTER ELEVEN
Swayam entered the home nervously after bidding goodbye to Rey and found Sharon engrossed in deep thoughts.
"Damn You Rey!" Swayam cursed him under the breath for actually telling her about the company. Sharon was the M.D. in the company and handled her work to perfection. But since she got pregnant Swayam asked her to take maternal leave and took all the duties of Sharon under himself. But he had been way too distracted in these months to be able to concentrate on everything properly. How much he tried his personal life was affecting his professional life and it had led to the disastrous decision of him which made the company run into loss. He looked at Sharon and tried to study her face but she looked way disturbed. He gulped thinking it was best if he actually get out of her sight before she can ask any question. So he tried to sneak slowly but Sharon's voice made him stunned.
"Swayam!" He gulped hard. Sending a prayer to God he turned around not knowing how he was going to face her backlash.
"Sharon listen I totally . . .You. . ." Swayam started to blabber when she cut her off softly.
"You have left the door open." Sharon said and he looked at her confused and then slowly turned around to see the front door open. He looked back at her shocked as she made her way to she backyard.
Did it really happen? Did Sharon not shout on him for his carelessness? How was he supposed to take this? His mind uttered confusion to which he had no answer.
***************
"Please tell me those photos. . .that girl. . . everything is a lie please"
"Its not. . . Its not a lie! But there's more to it. . ."
"Sharon, please if you cannot trust me please do not ask questions, I would not be able to give you answers. I would do that myself when I feel the time is right."
The words were ringing in Sharon's head. There was so much to think about. There was something that even Rey knew but Swayam wasn't ready to tell her. The whole conversation that she had overheard between Swayam and Rey was replaying in her head and she could do nothing but to give a second thought to everything that has between Swayam and her.
Should she trust Swayam's words? After all he was getting hurt too. How come she never saw how badly Swayam was hurt. Or was it that she did see but chose to ignore? But those pictures. . .
Do not trust your eyes always Shar. What you see is not necessarily the whole truth always."
Rey's words rang in her ears. Whole truth! Did she even know the half of it?
She looked towards her home and saw Swayam talking to someone over phone.
Why and when everything in her life became so complicated? She sighed and looked over to the sky watching the sun finally set slowly for the day. The red color scattered all over the heaven like a hug with a promise to the blues that they would meet tomorrow because some things are constant for good.
Was Swayam one of them?
You think he isn't? Her heart questioned and before her mind could argue it shut him up.
*****************
Swayam was making coffee for himself after an intense workout when suddenly he had an urge on checking up Sharon. He knew she must be asleep but then it was the only time he could actually watch her with full peace. He slowly opened the door of the room but to his surprise found the bed vacant. He frowned and hesitantly knocked on the door. But there was no response. He slowly entered the room to find it empty.
"Sharon?" He called out but was greeted with a voice, Sharon's voice and it told him she wasn't well.
He immediately turned around and knocked on the bathroom from where the voice had come
"Sharon, Are you fine? What's wrong?" He spoke with urgency but he heard her throw up, again.
He clicked the door open and saw Sharon throwing up badly in the basin. The sight left him in distress. He instantly went upto her and caressed her back holding her close. She threw up once more and huffed exhausted. He looked at her pale face and it ached him to see her like that. He took out a tissue and cleaned the dirt from the freckles of her hair as his eyes glistened. He washed her face with water and she sighed keeping her head on his shoulders. Swayam dried her face with towel and picked up in his arms carrying her to the bed. Making her sit comfortably he stood beside her taking her hand in his
"Sharon, how are you feeling now?"
"I am alright Swayam." She answered as Swayam gave her some water to drink.
"Just wait a second! Let me just call Sarah and fix an appointment for you." Swayam said already punching numbers on his phone.
"What? No! No! Swayam its not needed."
"What do you mean it's not needed? Did you see yourself there?" Swayam argued. His worry reaching another peak.
"Ofcourse You need it." Swayam said and was about to walk out when Sharon held his hand gripping it tightly.
The sudden contact of her skin with his left him shocked and he stopped then and there. His heart beat so fast that he feared he would frighten Sharon with its speed and loudness. He swallowed a lump trying to keep his emotions in check and turned around to find Sharon looking at him with the gentleness which he thought was far from his reach.
"It's just morning sickness Swayam! I am fine. It happens in pregnancy. I am fine." She said gently.
"Are you. . . Are you sure?" He asked looking at her face and she nodded with a small smile on her face. A smile which left him startled and happy and unsure and he returned it, feeling good. Something which had started to freak him now.
Swayam turned around and left the room analyzing what just happened.
*******************
Swayam was sitting in his cabin but his thoughts kept wandering to the morning incident. Smile. A very tiny thing. It wasn't everything, it was probably nothing but yet it had made his heart flip. The more he recalled the moment, the more his heart thudded. She had hit his feelings hard when he thought he could make things a bit bright with efforts. But then suddenly what happened? He had almost felt like they had gone back to the space where they both were happy each other. But all said and done he had felt the tingles run through his body when she had touched his hand, the way she gripped his hand , he experienced a sense of belonging after so long. The softness in her voice while talking to him was like revisiting the day he had heard it for the first time. He sighed back feeling an uncanny kind of delight in his heart and smiled.
***************
The conversation she had accidently eavesdrop has suddenly given Sharon the point which she had been looking around all along. The point where she can trust Swayam. All this while when a part of Sharon's heart wanted to trust Swayam the other part held her back saying she can't deny what she had seen and heard. But now there was a hope that Swayam hasn't betrayed her. And even though her mind was telling her not to and her heart was scared she chose to trust him for once. He had given her beautiful years of love, care and happiness and she wouldn't let a stack of photos overpower all their years of togetherness.
****************
Swayam was working in his study totally engrossed in his work when he heard a knock breaking his concentration. He looked up from the laptop to see Sharon standing at the door with her hands on her bump. Swayam for an unknown reason felt smile forming on her lips. But then the sudden thought occurred to him.
"Sharon? What happened? Feeling alright?" Swayam asked getting up.
Sharon bit her lower lip in response and nodded positive.
Swayam watched her intently trying to figure out what was going in her mind when she entered the study and slowly sat on the chair Swayam was sitting on a while ago.
"Do you even sleep? Its two a.m." Sharon said looking at him.
He looked at her surprised and gulped before saying "You know I can't sleep alone!"
His words tugged her heart and she looked away. After a while of silence when Swayam thought it was getting awkward he broke it "What awoke you?"
Sharon settled her freckle behind her ear and started eating her lips again while Swayam watched her aroused and amused to an extent.
"Stop doing that and tell me." Swayam said. It wasn't easy to stay at such distance from her all the time when she was so close to him and now this act of her was doing things to him.
Sharon stopped at once and looked at him with a kiddish cuteness in her eyes.
"I want to eat Chocolate Ice Cream." Sharon said.
"Chocolate? Umm. . . There is no chocolate but vanilla ice cream in the fridge. I will just bring it. Wait!" Swayam said smiling at her and got up to bring it.
Sharon held her wrist in his palms and he stilled. He turned around and raised her eyebrows at her.
"I want CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM NOT VANILLA." Sharon said emphasizing every word of her sentence.
"I know Sharon. But it isn't at home. I will arrange for it tomorrow." Swayam said softly not even realizing about the wrath that he will have to face if he doesn't stop talking like that.
"But I want to eat it NOW." Sharon said. Impatience dripping from her voice now.
Swayam looked at her with wide shocking eyes.
"Now???"
He looked at the clock ticking half past two.
"Sharon? Where do you expect to find Chocolate Ice cream right now?" Swayam said looking horrified.
"I don't know that! But I want to right now. I just am to tell you that I am going. "
Swayam raised his eyebrows at her.
"Excuse Me? You are going alone? And you thought I would let you go? I am sorry to break your bubble but you aren't going anywhere." Swayam said with an authority that Sharon's heart flap.
She composed herself because right now all she wanted was Chocolate Ice Cream! And he was denying her that.
It was her turn to raise eyebrows. She frowned at him said
"Are you saying NO to me Swayam?"
Swayam practically became shocked to see Her Diva mode turn on all of a sudden. He gulped.
"Are you Swayam?"
He looked dazed at her totally caught off guard and said "No I am not!"
A smile formed on her lips and she got up excited.
"Great. So come on let's go! I wanna eat Chocolate Ice cream!"
And before Swayam could react she was dragging him out of the door with his hands held in hers.
They were closer, closer than before.
