He's not actually her father. Her biological father actually buried her alive as a baby as they didn't want another girl to take care of and Vishwa "rescued" her just to save his own daughter. He believes her too be just Gauri's Kaala Teeka and nothing else. He's also easy manipulated (look at how Jethi Maa and Purohit are able to manipulate him). He was ready to get rid of Gauri as Jethi Ma's says after you use the peppers and lemon (for warding away evil/omens), you don't keep them you just throw them away...
A little background as to how Kaali ended up in their household:
Gauri's mom (sorry I can't remember her name right now), was heavily pregnant with Gauri and in fact was on the way to the hospital for a scheduled C-Section with Vishwa, Manjri, Jethi Ma and rest of the crew. They stopped at the Mudir for a pooja first though (I believe Vishwa is an astrologer or something like that but I am not sure as I am not knowledgable on the Hindhu religion).
Anyway, Purohit ji (Vishwa's family astrolger as Vishwa says he is not allowed to look at his own family's kundali's) was in charge of all the details for the pooja and time of the scheduled c-section ets. While the pooja was going on Kaali and her parents arrived at the mundhir. They looked to be quite distressed and tried speaking to a Pundit but he brushed them off saying their was an important function going on (Vishwa and crew's) and to walk around some sacred large structure instead so Kaali's parents took his advise and did that.
After the pooja was over, Vishwa and gang were all headed to the hospital for the c-section when Gauri's mom went into labour with her. The labour seemed to have moments of difficulty (such as the baby not in the right position etc) followed by moments that were going well. These moments of difficulty, followed by good seemed to coincide with the times that Kaali and parents would walk by the area Gauri's mom was in labour. Each time the labour was going well, Gauri happened to be in the direct path of where the labour was, and each time a difficulty arose it was because she was on the far side.
Purohit ji noticed that this was happening and thought to himself that it must be a sign, he didn't get the chance to think any further about that as Gauri was finally born by then. Unfortunately the joy of her birth was short lived as she (Gauri) started turning blue (it seemed everytime Gauri moved away there was some kind of distress to Gauri).
Vishwa rushed Gauri to the hospital and the doctors tried giving her meds but she was not responding. Vishwa was really upset and started taking it out on Purohit ji. He will do anything to keep her alive and safe. Purohit ji knows this and he tells VIshwa about the baby girl and her parents and what he noticed each time they went by. He said it reminded him about something he learned in years earlier from another pundit/astrologer. He managed to convince Vishwa that the Kaali is Gauri's Kaala Teeka (I think at this time Vishwa was desperate to try anything).
The two of them rush back to the mundir and as one of the pundits about the couple and the baby that was there earlier. The pundit tells them where to find them. They quickly try and find the baby and her parents so that they can bring the baby to the hospital but by the time they reach there they find that the father has already buried his baby girl alive.
Vishwa refuses to give up (his daughter is super important to him - please keep in mind that Vishwa has desperately wanted a girl as he thinks she is the answer to all their problems (especially considering no girls have been born to their family in the past 80 years)) and starts digging all around looking for the baby (the father was not lucid enough to recall where he buried his baby girl). VIshwa digs up many places and finally finds Kaali. She appears to not to be alive but then i guess there is some movement noticed so Vishwa rushes her to the hospital. He tells the Doctor off and performs the ritual to take away the bad nazir that he believes his daughter has by using baby Kaalki as her living Kaala Teeka. Gauri responds to this and Vishwa is ecstatic..
They whole crew leaves they hospital and basically just left Kaali on the hospital bed as if she were garbage, her job being done and so no longer significant. However, our softhearted Manjri hears her cry and rushes into the room to get her...
