well responsibilities hav increased over the years 4 women not jus them but girls 2! im 17 yrs old senior in high school. i hav a job so that i can save up money 4 college n then im tryin 2 graduate at same time but when i come home my mom expects me 2 do my chores!! my weekend like goes wrking n cleaning the house. i think almost all south asian girls hav to do all this but guys they dnt hav 2 n i dont think this thing will ever change??

Yes this is the way mothers treating their girls in every whare,( but my case my brothers also helped me . they are so helpful hence) I have no complaints. But I didn't think in western countries also South Asian girls treated like this. But as a mother of two girls I want them know how to do the work not more than that.Trained accordingly, (but not compulsorily make them do the work) they have to live themselves in later years.

ppl these days expects girls to be "padhi likhi" if they want her 2 b there daughter in law even tho they dnt knw if they want her 2 do a job or not?? ppl r confused themselves. they r giving women to b modern n advance but still hav them tied to the house hold wrk chains!!

Even mothers cant change them how can mothers in law.
thats wat my opinon was..hope i didnt offended no one!!
😳 😛

Girls should know the household work otherwise if there is no servant they can not even prepare their own food. My parents made it sure myself and my brothers should know the necessary house hold works so that we may not be dependent on others Now it is fashon that mothers are boasting that ther daughter don't know any house hold work.

no matter which country the girls or women live.... no matter how educated the family is.... no matter how rich or poor the family.... all girls and women are treated the same everywhere!!

i know you are right, but i wldnt mind doing the housework and brining and raising up children...its fun i love it...every woman loves it i am sure u love it too...i am studying too right now Masters...i am not so work oriented...but when i think if i have to help people in some way and i have to a job, i wld def do it...but work or job is never the first priority for me...

basically right now am doing masters just for parents sake, and just to get the degree right now ...also education gives you status...so yeah...

one more thing if you see a woman enjoying her household and raising children...dont think of her as backward...shes confortable in that, she is doing wholeheartedly...

only when a woman who is willingly to work, do a job from her heart...but she cant...thats where we say women are not treated properly...

theres a big difference how you see womens opinions...

Yup I agree... and you go to any maternity ward in any country, it is always the girls/women who give birth to babies. 😉

It is a woman's responisbility to voice her opinion in this. A man is not going to tell a woman to stop doing work, it makes his life easier, why should he? It is a woman's responsitibility to stop being a worker and a maid at the same time. It is good to do chores and your own work but it is also other person's equal responsibility. They should share work, we don't live in 17th century anymore. If women complain about it, then they should do something about it too!

Hi guys...

I don't post a lot in this section...but visit it often...and read most of the topics...and they r all pretty interesting...

anyway I was discussing something with my friend yesterday so thought of seeing ur views on it...

See... aaj kal girls r studying hard... becoming educated...smart...helpful people for soceity... yet they still have their "womenly" work to do... or are expected to do their womenly work...no matter how educated they are...

so my question... do u think girls r getting more freedom than before...or just more responsibilities?

see...before when a girl got married...her job was to do the house work...raise children and all... but now...she works so hard and studies... and works... yet she is expected to still do all those housr works...without the husband helping at all...

and usually when i ask my male friends about this...they say...no matter how much a girl studies... she still should be doing her womenly work at home after marriage...

I mean is this fair??? it is like the women have two shifts now... one to work outside and another... to do the house work...because it is her job....

so I think instead of having freedom... we have these extra responisbilities... especially for Asian girls... because in today's society...you need two incomes...to have a good enough life... so no matter what...girls have to do both house work and work outside... while men...only do the outside work... and be the ones to give orders...😆

and even if we don't need that other income... then what is the point of a girl studying...and getting degrees..?

so what r ur views guys??😃

Read Prof. Lewis Thomas' writings on this topic. He provides a fascinating scientific insight into why he believes such work is genetically programmed into women. This distribution of labour, he argues, is genetic, and also because women are lingusitically better equipped to bring up children and take care of housework.

I'll elaborate when I finish my exams.
