Two films which I really loved this year, they were just simply amazing thrillers, but still Average verdicts at the box office.

Drishyam so far is the highest rated film of the year, with 8.9 (Baahubali has 8.8)

and Baby isn't far behind with 8.1

Let's look at the BO data:

Baby:
Budget: 75 cr
Domestic Nett gross: 81.8 cr

Drishyam:
Budget: 62 cr
Domestic nett gross: 68.6 cr

Why didn't the audiences go and watch these films?

Drishyam is the best film of 2015 for me. Indians are stuck on the masala films and Khans they need to move on and appreciate good cinema.

I really cant figure out
Baby was flawless, totally awesome. It should be on best thriller list
Drishyam too was extremely good
But probably they were not promoted the way masala entertainers are promoted that's why

Baby was extremely good movie, brilliant! But it wouldnt appeal to the masses as it had no song and dance and masala stuff so only selective audience went, still it did very well considering its genre.
I havent watched Drishyam yet but I read that many people compared it unfavorably to the original South versions.
Really well-made thrillers can do well, like Kahani was a clean Hit in 2012.

Drishyam was clashing with BB (one week difference & Bahubali 2 weeks) they get less screens too around 1500+

Never saw Drishyam . Baby was boring . But there are so many better films that have done average or flop business . Garv for one
