This is the problem with young adults. They dont like to stick to one thing for too long. they want to try new things and move on with life. Even in 9-5hr jobs they are doing it. they just like change and dont stick to one thing for too long. The new generation is very restless and impatient.
Also MTV is not a big channel so wont be paying much especially for side characters. Zain Imam has a show on zee with him as lead im sure he gets paid more than parth and niti.
If I am not mistaken, the PH pays the actors and meets the rest of the cost of production. They sell their product to the channel who in turn get their money from the sponsors. Parth seems to be paid well considering that he managed to get a BMW within a year of working in the show. He also mentioned that the show cannot afford to pay another actor like him when Charlie said that she will only kiss if there is someone as hot as him opposite her. Don't know how much the rest of them are being paid but it cannot be peanuts. Doubt Zain is getting paid more than Parth and Niti because it depends on the overall production cost and the ability of the PH to pay. Now BBC is quite a big production house so doubt they will be constrained for resources.
Agree with you on the restlessness bit. Generally youth shows don't go on for long. So these young actors may have signed up for the show thinking it will be for a year maximum but when it gets stretched, they also want to do something different. Now whether they get that opportunity is another thing.
One thing which could be irking the actors is the hectic shooting schedule. The show is mostly shot at nights which seem never ending. Even with just 4 episodes a week, there has been no respite in the shooting schedules. The quality is poor despite less work. Obviously there is gross mismanagement of resources. Frequent changes in story lines could be contributing to this. I also feel that they have no dialogue writers or script supervisors in season 2 because apart from cutting costs, it also means fewer people are involved in the story telling, which could save time if they make frequent changes in it.
There is one good thing though. Right now they seem to have a good bank of episodes (atleast a week, if not more). This may allow actors to take leave when they want Earlier that wasn't the case and when Parth fell sick, they were literally working round the clock changing the story to suit his absence.
To sum up, this PH can learn a thing or two from Ekta's PH about managing its resources more effectively.
