Will she or won't she?– was the question doing the rounds after Ketaki Dave aka Dakshaben made an appearance in Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi for the Navratri episode. With both parties denying these rumours vehemently at that time, the truth has finally surfaced. Dakshaben, one of the most popular characters in Ekta Kapoor's Kyunkii … is all set to return to the soap after a hiatus of nearly three years. Ekta confirmed the news of the return of the parody-gal. "It's true that we're bringing back Ketaki Dave as the popular Dakshaben in Kyunkii... Now that the soap is turning another corner and is ready to take another generation leap, she will fit in perfectly." Dave, when contacted, was reluctant to talk. "Yes, Ekta and I have spoken. But the details have yet to be worked out. So I'd rather not talk about it yet," is all she was ready to divulge. Dave's departure from Kyunkii Saas… did not bring her much success in films, as she had hoped. She did bag a lead opposite Johnny Lever in the Govinda comedy Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya, but the film essentially cashed in on her image as Dakshaben. Soon her career in films started sagging and now, she is all set to return to the medium that made her a household name. Diehard fans of the long-running soap would remember 'Daksha' as the comic and endearing character who was besotted with Bollywood. With her thick Gujarati accent and her patented exclamation, "Aa-ra -ra-ra!" Ketaki was a very popular. When the actress parted ways with producer Ekta, Himani Shivpuri was brought into Kyunkii … to provide the much needed comic relief. But it didn't work out as desired and Himani's role was lopped off. But how much Ketaki meant to Balaji and the energy she injected into her role is evident when Ekta says, "Not that anyone is indispensable. But we did miss Daksha on Kyunkii..." | ||
