Short LRL Fic: Waiting

Hey guys, this is just a one off that won't be continued, but I couldn't help writing it after the episode of 16/08

Naina didn't know how long it would actually take to prove him innocent, but she was sure of one thing.

If she had to, then she would wait 14 years for him. Her hair might become grey, she would miss out on the best of her youth, but she didn't care. Even if it took 14 years, she would wait for him.

The day that they took him away, she doesn't stop crying. Because so much has been left unsaid and because in the end, she knows that she is his weakness. That if he hadn't loved her they wouldn't have been able to trap him so brilliantly. And she wishes, that just once, he had denied his love for her, if it would've been able to save him. But he never said anything in his own defense, not even once, and it just makes her love him even more.

After crying herself to sleep, the next day she gets up early, puts on her uniform as usual, braids her hair and heads down to the mess. Because she's not about to admit defeat, instead she's only just begun her waiting, waiting until the day that this will all become alright. Waiting for the day when she can prove him innocent and bring him back his lost honour and pride.

Her friends stare at her in disbelief, after her break down yesterday, they had expected Naina to fall completely apart, unable to cope. However here she is, acting like nothing has changed, the only sign of her feelings is the look of determination on her face and the pain in her eyes. Nobody comments on the watch she now wears on her wrist, they all know that it was his.

It is the afternoon when she confronts Huda.

"Huda, you once asked me to tell you if I fell in love with somebody." She says to him, "So today I would like to tell you that I love Captain Rajveer." She uses his rank on purpose, no matter what the army has decided, nobody can take his status away from him in her eyes.

Huda stares at her, unsure of what to say. He should've been happy that his rival is finally out of the way, but instead he wishes he had been less selfish and tried to help more.

"And so I would appreciate it if you tried to be my friend instead of chasing after me." Naina tells him, "Because I'm going to need my friends to prove him innocent, and believe me, I will prove Captain Rajveer innocent and I will have every single person who has wronged him and trapped him punished."

Then without waiting for an answer, she walks away.

She loves him and so she is prepared to wait.

However long it takes.
