professionally for a young boy like Sooraj Barjatya who at that time was 19 (I was 19 too) to take a stand and cast somebody like me.

Why do you call him Sooraj babu?
He was a young 19-year-old guy then and I could see people taking him for granted and I didn't like that. I started calling him Sooraj babu so that others would respect him.

Is there something common between the both of you?
He is more polite and docile and is exactly how we were then at 19. I over the years have changed drastically.

Sooraj celebrated his 50tj bday sometime in late August, he is half a year older than Salman. Salmans 19 is in reference to the time Sooraj wrote the script to it wandering around trying to get a break as a director. Salman was 22 when he shot for the movie starting in April 1988 (he was born on Dec 27 of 65). The movie released on Dec 29, 1989 2 days after Salmans 23rd bday.
