Initially, director Farhan Akhtar had approached A. R. Rahman for composing the music. But since Rahman was busy with other engagements, he did not accept the offer.^[4] Later Rahman commented that he was glad that the project went to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and he personally loved their work in the film.^[5]

You missed one of the most beautiful songs, Kaisi hai yeh rut ke jisme, phool banke dil khile

Dil Chahta is one of those albums where every song is a gem and has an immense repeat value. There's lots of variety, love all the songs, can't choose one.

Also the lyrics of title track are just amazing

Kaisa ajab ye safar hai, Socho toh har ek hi bekhabar hai
Usko jaana kidhar hai, jo waqt aaye jaane kya dikhaye..ooo...ooo

The theme song, Dil Chahta hai...whenever I hear it I feel like going on a road trip. I wish Farhan Akhtar made more good movies like DCH.

I have two. Tanhayi and Kaise hain yeh ruth hain jisme. Man...this album changed BW music for the better and then it turned to trash again until Amit Trivedi rose up. But DCH songs = life.
