Where is the Zing?

Here's my detailed analysis of today's Epi. Starting of with the positives:
We saw a jealous Manik and Aryaman drops the karela. Lovely shot. Goes to show Aryaman, regardless of his feelings for Nandini, is being a good friend and puts her feelings above all.

Manik is territorial when he walks upto Nandini and puts his arm around her. Nice move!
Dhruv asking for the lovebirds to have some space and time to themselves. (Duh! Shouldn't all the friends be aware of this)

Maniks ' I want to fulfill all your wishes', ' you are my inspiration' and ' this is my instrument' line to Nandini. Nicely penned!!

and ofcourse the Kisses.

Nandini's enthusiastic yippee and Maniks response to that.

Manik's expressions when he looks back at Nandini after the cops asks him to 'get lost'.

And now with the Negatives:

The song! Ugh! Where do I start?! It was terrible. The lyrics were ok..but with no music and mediocre singing, it sounded so offbeat and raw. I think Parth sounded better in uttus video than here. CVs need to stop trying to compose songs and use good existing Bollywood songs. The moment was so lost.

Nandini's response to the song. Awkwardness covered with a big smile.

Manik referring to the hospital bed so many times.. Was able to compose an unfinished song and read Nandini's so called blog ( which we never heard of) on net but didn't call anyone to let them know he is alive. Weird!!

Nandini's lack of curiosity of why he didn't call.. Or how badly he was hurt. Doubly weird!!

No heart to heart conversation at the first time they are alone. Instinctively that's what couples do.. Pour their hearts out. Tell them of the above two mentioned points and then how much they missed each other.. Etc.

Nandini's go and get a shark. Like really?! Who penned these lines or scene?! It was so lame!

Nandini wanting to steal Daru from a cop. Hmm... Did Nandini go through a personality transplant in the past 2 days? The old Nandini would never take pangas with cops or encourage Manik to do so. Even if she realized life is too short while Manik was gone and wants to seize the day now...this is not how she would have gone about it. It just didn't go with her characterization.

Lack of emotion. I don't know if this is coz of the way the scenes were penned down today or lack of a good director or the actors themselves. The Zing was missing. Manan hardly touched each other. For example: when Manik pulls Nandini close and says this is my instrument.. Nandini's hand should automatically reach out and be on Manik. However we see Niti in the same defensive posture.. Hands in front. (Same thing happened when Manik pulls her in for a hug.. Outside the resort)
Or when she leans in for kiss on the cheek..her hands barely moved to touch him.
So goes the same with Manik/Parth..

It feels like they are going through a choreography.. 1. Lean forward 2. Kiss 3. Move back and talk quick 4. Smile 5. Look into eyes 6. Talk more.

They smiled at each other but the smiles didn't reach their eyes.
There was def a lack of zing.. Chemistry.. Fire..Whatever u want to call it. Instead we see awkwardness. Pani has stopped improvising and the romance choreography is looking bad. If Niti, for reasons known to her, hesitates touching Parth and vice versa.. Then say bye bye Manan and KY2

If Pani doesn't get over their awkwardness with each other and if CVs don't do a better job than this... I think KY2 is a done deal. I keep watching the show everyday hoping that today will be better than yesterday.. ( last episode was good.. It was the Right mix of Yaariyan and pyaar, still had issues with Pani's act as Manan but it was a fun Epi).

I wonder if PH cares for KY2 at all.. They seem to have all mediocre team behind the scenes now. And Pani seem way too nonchalant. It's like they have already proved themselves and with the public demanding Parths return, there is a sense of ' I can get away with mediocre acting' as long as they show Manan scenes, the crazy fandom will be happy.
So what if the story line is shoddy or that the leads are not making any effort to play their characters convincingly.

Maybe they themselves are not able to connect with Manan now. Whatever the reasons, I hope things start to change soon.

I have to watch KY2 S1 to remind myself why I liked the show in the first place.

@bold. My exact thinking. The shoddines and lack of effort by various departments in chemistry, is because of complacence by PH , actors and other teams. Its like they are telling the public, you wanted Parth and Manan, we are giving you that. So they expect people to watch just to see Pani onscreen.
The point is proved by the fact that Niti's acting, characterization and Manan memories were so done well when Parth was not in the show. Its like after he has come back, they have stopped bothering because Pani/Manan should be taking care of the rest.
Missing Ayaz...he used to put a spark into Manan romance, and someone please let Mukti have her own life instead of trying to be Manan's mom.

@bluejalpari: watching S2 is like detoxing one from S1. So when the show stops... Atleast you won't feel the pinch.

Sigh! Will be so disappointed for the lack of use of such a good opportunity.

A friend and I were just talking today how disappointing MaNan and the story(or the lack of) has been lately only to realize our opinion doesn't really matter coz we are only 2 with this opinion.
I should tell her there are actually 4 people with this opinion-the minority is growing :)

Jokes apart, you and @bluejalpari have said everything that was in mind and I would have said if anyone listened-lol

I have resigned to the fact that S2 is just another youth show with pretty faces. MaNan-who MaNan? Kindly watch S1 for that epicness!

S2 of any shows has seldom lived up to the reputation of S1. So I sorta knew reprising S1 would be very very difficult.
But sadly right now the situation is such that I'd be happy if I don't walk away cursing myself for thinking so highly of MaNan, PaNi, the creatives and the PH. S1 and MaNan are IMHO the best modern day love story told on Indian television.

I understand lot of adjustments and changes to the story had to be made to accommodate Manik back in the show and it takes time for the show to hit an equilibrium.

What I don't understand is slacking creatives, disinterested actors and ridiculous subtracks(Mukti acting jealous-really??!!). If anything everyone should pull up their socks and get this train wreck back on track(if Twitter is anything to go by without MaNan that's what S2 was). Instead what I feel is the episodes come across as reality show episodes where camera is turned on and actors are asked to say sing and do whatever they feel like!!

Honestly why would the ph and creatives bother because most fans are happy to see their fav couple onscreen again-whether they are back as MaNan or themselves, nobody cares! Except some 4-5 of us who don't add anything-neither to the TRPs nor to the fandom-sighhh

@ Opti: well said and agree with it all. But i do feel a change in Pani from S1 and S2. There is an awkwardness.. Which was there before too, but not as obvious as now. I feel they are just mouthing of words coz they have to Or hug or touch etc coz it's written. I don't see them connecting to Manan. Earlier it felt they (along with others) worked hard to make the show success.. Now it's in 'cruise control' mode. No effort being made by them or the CVs/PH.

@geno0309: :)) thank you dear! I was holding it back for sometime now coz I knew I would be amongst the minority. But today after seeing the travesty of Manan.. And the fandom still gushing over the two lines, song and placid kisses, I just had to get it all out. Good to see there are quite a few of us without the rose colored glasses.
Agree with everything that u said. I was hoping against hope that once they settle in with Parths comeback and the changes they had to make, the show will take off. Slowly but steadily. But sadly, none of that has happened so far. The reactions of one's love coming back from the dead was soo muted.. And it sort of set the tone for the following episodes. Sometimes I feel like shaking Manan to get the basic human reaction of seeing the love of your life return after 4 months. Can you believe it, there hasn't been one passionate hug let alone a smooch from them?!
Which world are the writers from?? These are young adults in throes of a passionate love affair! Plz show them as such and not like some over the hill couple!!

Are people even asking Pani about their missing chemistry on Twitter or Insta? All I see is blinded fandom praising them mostly.
People should have trended for not just Parth but the old CV team back too! I don't see how thats possible now. But GL and hope the channel or Ph does something about it soon.

Couldn't agree with you guys more... I mean as of now...there is no story...and without a story...there's no show...
