What SSEL Has Taught Me

SSEL can be a very educational show. Here are some of the important things it's taught me:
1) If you are dark-skinned, you are unattractive and no man will ever want you physically.

2) If you are unattractive, you better start cooking, cleaning and being a selfless doormat, because that's the only way you'll ever get love in your life

3) If you are married to a man who doesn't love you or find you physically attractive and another man wants to marry you who does find you attractive, pine over your husband and reject the other man's proposal vehemently.

4) A woman (especially an ugly one) does not need sex or affection, only a man who is gracious enough to give her a place in his life.

5) A dark-skinned or otherwise ugly woman can never be sexy so she should never try because those nighties will never suit her and her seductive methods will always fall flat because she will keep tripping on the aforementioned nighties in her clumsy, ugly way.

6) A dark-skinned or otherwise ugly woman should not wear makeup or do her hair because it won't "suit her" and her husband won't like it.
----

I think I'm finally done with this regressive piece of rubbish. It's time to close the "Indian soap operas" chapter in my life.

Bravo, IKs!

I've gone off it totally--last evening I felt quite suddenly that I'd had enough. Let the cvs eat their own carrots--and beat themselves with their own sticks. Not interested in the #StupidestShowEverLimited. Maybe I'll get over it, but I hope not--it's pure crap now.

Nice to hear from you. I haven't watched for maybe 2-3 weeks. I only vaguely know about this Milly track. Sounds like a haphazard attempt at trying to reintroduce some interest in the show. I've said it before and I'll say it again - the CVs do not have one ounce of creativity in them (or maybe they're just lazy?). There was no reason to bring in a new character. With their set-up and characters, they could have had stories for YEARS. That is, if they chose to use even a small tiny portion of their brains.

I mean think about the richness of all the characters they've created. Ragini, a fair-faced former model who now spends her days scheming with her sister-in-law while conveniently ignoring her crumbling marriage. There's so much you could do with that.

Anuj needs to be fleshed out a bit. They could take a few episodes to do that! Saurabh has his EMA that hasn't been mentioned AT ALL since it was first brought up like 6 months ago. They could even do flashbacks for Menka-Anuj and Saurabh-Ragini. The audience would love that.

This whole show is just wasted potential. Makes me sad.

Good one, Ikea! 👏

Makes me feel terrible seeing all the potential being wasted. To show this they built the whole falling-in-love process for almost an year?

The focus long since moved from telling a story to grabbing as many TRP eyeballs as possible. And they are stupid enough not to see that they had highest TRPs when they told a story well.

No point lamenting, they are hell bent on ruining it. I'm reaching the saturation point myself.

Excellent post whatever u said is totally true the lesson from this show is that if u dark u are ugly and should compensate in other areas of your life since u dnt have good looks. I really feel sorry for a person who is suhani's colour and watches this show for inspiration or connected to the real suhani. To teach them that is what they will ever be worthy of makes this the shittiest show on tv. This show just insults my brain cells forget the color of suhani skin this show is so regressive that it just wants to show that a womans place is in the kitchen and nowhere else. She has no dreams, aspiration or self identity and has no self worth coz she will allow any1 to treat her like shit. This is not only a problem for this show bt for 90% of the shows on indian tv which is truly sad. These indian writers are uncreative and their writing is backwards. I just dnt see the same thing in english shows this regressive mentality that the only thing a woman is meant for is marriage and babies. Bt this show because of the sort of issues it has been identified with had a higher duty to show their story correctly. Its truly sad what they have done with this show.
