Fans throng Jrisalein playground to see Amit

JOWAI: Braving rains, the people of Jaintia Hills on Tuesday witnessed the performance of singing sensation Amit Paul and Brand Ambassador of Peace, Communal Harmony and Excellence, live at Jrisalein playground in Jowai.
Thousands of the fans and supporters had come from all over Jowai and other places in the district to witness the performance of Amit.
Amit expressed gratitude for the love and support given by the people of Jaintia Hills throughout the Indian Idol contest, the show which brought him to fame.
He lauded the district administration and also the organisers of the programme in Jowai - the Saralyne Sports Social & Cultural Club, Jowai.
In Jowai, he sang the popular numbers Nasha ye pyar ka nasha hai, Pehela nasha, Bulla ke jana mein koun, Nga dang kynmaw iaphi baieid among other songs.
He also sang some of the other numbers requested by the crowd.
The district administration has provided full security and also received him at Circuit House Jowai before attending the huge crowd waited at the playground.
The organisers presented him with the traditional Jaintia cap. All schools were given half-day holiday while most Government offices were found almost empty as all the staff left their offices to see Amit's live performance.
Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner, FR Kharkongor also invited Amit Paul to come to Jowai during the Jaintia Autumn Festival - Discover Jaintia scheduled from November 5 to November 10.
