'I would have loved to have Mir Negi as my partner' - Tina Sachdev
Tina, Aadesh Srivastava's choreographer, was in tears when they were eliminated. The poor girl had tried her best, but things went wrong when Aadesh couldn't give her enough time to rehearse because of poor health. We spoke to this talented choreographer after her vote out. Did you expect such an early elimination?I almost expected it. We didn't perform well because a lot of thing had been going against us. Aadesh didn't have enough timeâhis schedule was very tightâso we lost a week and a half. Just before the first performance his health totally went downâhe had 103-degree fever. Moreover, it's not an easy job to train someone who doesn't know how to dance at all. There were times when I couldn't push him beyond a point. Given a chance we could have done better. He was already improving a lot. But then what has to happen will happen. Tell us about your background as a dancer.
I've been dancing since the time I remember. Professionally I got into it when I was 15. I am very passionate about dance. I did shows with different choreographers. I've worked with Farah Khan, Ganesh Hegde and Toby Fernandez. I've never got formal training. I've been doing my own shows and then I got selected for Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, which is a very prestigious thing. Many people must have auditioned for this, I consider myself lucky. I am also lucky to get Aadesh as a partner because he is a very good person. Given a chance would you have chosen any other celebrity as your partner?
See, for me this competition was a challenge and I knew I'll be dealing with someone who doesn't know how to dance. I always wanted someone with a lot of dedication towards it. I wanted a full four-hour rehearsal, which never happened. I wish I had someone who had more time at his disposal, someone who could have dedicated himself more generously to the show. Take the case of Mir Negiâhe has never danced in his life, he has never faced the camera, yet he is doing so brilliantly. That man is actually putting a lot in it. I feel that is a true rockstar. I would have loved to have him as a partner. With Aadesh, I have a brother. With him, I would have had a cute uncle. How was your experience in the show?
It has been a rocking journey. It started with a bang. Aadesh was also very excited in the beginning, but things went down when his health went down. Since then the journey has been a little rocky. All said and done, I am glad that I got this far. It is a great opportunity to train someone at such a level, where the whole country is watching us.
When will we get a jhalak of Tina next?
I am planning to start my own dance classes in the near future on a very large scale. I wish to open a dance therapy centre. This is a concept in which I'll use dance as a medium to give therapy to people with psychological problems. I'll use my talent very meaningfully through it, and of course, I'll teach dance as well.
