Inside news - Jhalak Dikhla Ja !

After last night's dance fever on 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa', the sword of uncertainty hangs on the contestants' heads. The introductory episode gave a glimpse of what's in store on the show's second season.

The elimination will be done on the basis of cumulative votes of the introductory episode and last night's first gala round. So who will have the shortest run on the show and who will be the first celebrity to bid adieu to 'Jhalak'?

As compared to her performance in the introductory episode, Tapur Chatterjee has improved quite a bit. So has Mini Mathur who is said to be not too happy with her choreographer Hemu.

Not because Hemu is not a good teacher and dancer but because his age. Sources in the production house and channel say that Mini finds her dance partner bit too elderly. Sonali Kulkarni is also working hard to improve her dancing skills and her choreographer Toby is pushing her through lot of difficult steps. Among the girls, the real show stealers are Sandhya Mridul and Sudha Chandran. Both are trained dancers.

Among the boys, Mika has improved a bit after a disastrous performance last week. Our sources say that his major handicap is not lack of dancing skills but attitude. Aadesh Srivastav certainly has two left feet. The music composer can't dance and is not a threat to his co-contestants.

Funny man Cyrus Baroacha is a real entertainer, not as a dancer but for his one-liners. While the judges are too soft on 'Chak De' man Mir Ranjan Negi, the ex-India hockey goal-keeper is not good dribbler on the dance floor. That leaves Ronit Roy and Jay Bhanushali. Both are doing just fine.

So who will go out of 'Jhalak' tonight? Since it is a voting-based show, popularity counts a lot and therefore bad performance may not get punished in the first few weeks if the contestant has huge fan following. Sources in Sony say that television stars are quite popular in the Hindi belt as well as in the western region.

In other words, Ronit, Jay, Sudha, Mini and Prachi Desai will have a longer lease of life on the dance floor. Sandhya too has her fan following in the north. Sonali's popularity is confined mainly to Maharashtra and Mika has his fans in Punjab and Haryana. Negi, thanks to the super success of 'Chak De', is unlikely to land in the danger zone so soon. That leaves Aadesh and Tapur at the lower end of popularity scale.
