Jigs, I'm going to borrow your words here as I struggle to express my feelings about just how much I loved this chapter, "Where does one even begin?"
You have shown them pick up each piece of their splintered heart and offer it back to the other for safe keeping. Because for them, that's the only place for it to be, hamesha. And the way you have shown them reach this place is what's so beautiful.
Arnav needed to say the words, Khushi needed to hear them but when they came, her care for him still wanted him to not go through the pain. That was immensely moving. There was so much he'd kept buried in himself, in his inability and unwillingness to voice his feelings. We make decisions for others thinking we're shielding them, little realising the damage we're doing. A salutary lesson for all of us.
One of the most uplifting revelations for me was seeing this transformed Khushi. As you said, his "vixen" was back. The one we were all waiting to see. The way you showed her reconnecting with her home was just beautiful. The sense of joy and wonder that you feel after that first much awaited shower of the monsoons. When everything feels fresh and new.
This glimpse we had of their easy domesticity brings home just how much was missing in their life. The easy banter, how the dealing with the mundane is also elevated when it's shared with a loved one, the just ... living.
I'm quite sure Shakespeare did not mean this when he said "Love is a many splendored thing" but when you write of their lovemaking, that's all I can think of! It was bone melting, spine tingling, but above all heart stoppingly tender. A true meeting of souls.
Arnav's note left me all teary eyed. So much pure love leaping out of every word. I'm madly in love with their love Jigs.
Lines from an IPK classic song were proved here ...
Hai teri chahat meri zaroorat
Sooni hai tujh bin duniya meri
Naa reh sakoonga main door inse
Hai meri jannat galiya teri
And now waiting for the leap to see what awaits them :)
