Part 18

The Guptas and the Raizadas were family friends for a extremely long time till an unwanted incident destroyed the peace of their lives and made them arch rivals. Khushi's father Shashi Gupta wad formerly in love with Arnav's Mausi Sudeshna and they had taken their relationship to the next level in the anticipation of getting married to each other. But the destiny chose Garima as the soulmate for Shashi, whom he was bound to accept due to the pressure his family was exerting on him.

Unintentionally yet knowingly, Shashi had broken the heart of Sudeshna, who felt that Shashi had used her and cheated her. On the other hand, Shashi had developed a fatherly affection for his sister-in-law Ananya, who had lost both her parents in an accident and had given her his surname so that no one would think of harming her for being associated with the Guptas.

Burning in the fire of Vengeance, Sudeshna convinced her brother, Manohar Raizada to take revenge from the Guptas while using the apple of the Guptas, Ananya, and Manohar had accomplished his task so efficiently that Ananya had to commit suicide due to the betrayal and double-sides of the society but not before leaving Guptas and Raizadas in a never ending game of revenge.

Arnav had lost all the contacts with his paternal family when he heard his mother had committed suicide when his father was having an extra-marital affair and hence, his hatred against the people who betray grew to all new heights, giving rise to a new generation which had the urge to take revenge at all costs.

But this generation also knew redemption. While Shyam walked on the path of the redemption till he found his own end, Arnav was dying every moment as his wife, to whom he had fallen deeply in love with loathed him to an extent where she found it difficult to even sit for a Puja, even if it with acting.

Will Arnav be successful in winning Khushi's heart which is protected and clouded from the last message of Ananya Gupta?

Next Day,

Khushi had decided to sit for Puja, for her best friend and sister-in-law Anjali and her sister Payal who was soon going to join the Raizada family. Breathing in the air which was made thick with the pain residing in her heart, Khushi draped on a cream colored sari with a fuschia pink border, with a matching blouse. While she was dressed to kill, the dress was killing her as the memories of her brother, who gifted her with that sari, flooded into her mind, making her extremely restless and flustered.

Khushi brought herself out of the gut-churning memories as Anjali called out to her,

" Khushi, Pandit Ji is here and you are wanted!"

" Yeah Anjali, I am coming!" Khushi replied while trying to get a voice devoid of any emotions but in turn she replied in voice dripping with sorrow and angst.

Khushi walked out into the living room, after taking the veil over her head as per the ritual but she still was without any signs of being married much to the Pandit's shock who was giving her weird looks.

" Aap Chotte Malik Ke Patni Hai?" questioned the Pandit who had arrived for the Puja while Khushi instantaneously and involuntarily responded by saying,

" Nahi..."

" Haan!" answered Arnav in affirmative just as Khushi completed her statement while Khushi looked at Arnav with shock swimming in those pain-filled eyes. Did he really accept the marriage which was nothing but a revenge? Or was he saying this for the sake of Pandit and Puja?

" Hari OM!" chanted the Pandit breaking Khushi's reverie which resulted in her seeing Arnav too lost in thoughts. She still doesn't consider that marriage, thought Arnav. Though he knew this from before, a straight answer still managed to hurt him.

" Beta, please fill your wife's partition before we begin with the rituals. It is mandatory that the lady doing these rituals is married and wears Sindoor on her partition." The Pandit explained while preparing the ingredients required for the Puja as Khushi and Arnav were left shocked at the demands placed by the Pandit.

Anjali was about to move to Khushi and Arnav, when Nani held her hand and stopped her from interrupting them as she signed with her eyes that they can manage on their own.

While Arnav would be the happiest man alive to fill his love, his wife's partition, he also knew that Khushi would be extremely uncomfortable and hurt if he does it as he deciphered from her confused expressions.

He leaned close to Khushi and whispered to her,

" Khushi, you may fill your partition yourself or if you feeling so bad about it then you can step back from the Puja on the whole. Akash and Payal can do this Puja as they are going to be married soon. And i will myself speak to the Pandit about this."

The concern which was evident in his voice had touched Khushi. Being a person born and brought up in an influential business family, Khushi's parents had absolutely no time for her or her siblings and that's where she grew close to Shyam and Payal more than her parents. Now with Shyam in heavenly planets, Khushi hearing someone speaking to her with so much of concern surely made her go emotional.

" I am fine. You do it as instructed by Pandit Ji. I don't want to leave any loop holes in this." An unknown softness was visible in her voice, which didn't go unnoticed by Arnav, who was surprised to find her tone not that of hatred or anger. As a smile adorned his face that his Khushi was understanding him for good, he bent down to take the red colored vermilion from the ceremonial plate kept there.

He felt a hundred emotions surging into him as he reminisced the way he had filled her partition for the first time, but the changes which he found in him then and now, made him also feel that love does wonders to a person. As Khushi closed her eyes in the anticipation of Arnav's actions, Arnav filled her partition with her touch showering all the love and concern of the world.

A certain warmth rising from pride filled throughout his body as he eyed at his wife, standing in front of him while adorning the signs of a married woman carrying his name over them. Changes were certainly there in Khushi both physically and mentally. Was she accepting the truth of her life that she is wedded to Arnav legally and officially?

Was she realizing the extent of Arnav's love for her and has started to reciprocate the same?
