Mangla to Nimboli: Love or obsession?

Does Mangla actually loves Nimboli?

Today when she saw somebody would take away Nimboli from her( give her a good future and love, all care she deserves) she ran away with Nimboli to her parents place, why did she not run away with Nimboli before when she saw daily the little girl being physically, mentally and even sexually abused by Akhiraj's family.

Yes we know she tried saving Nimboli few times, but as a mother "what she calls herself for Nimobli" is that enough?
Had Nimboli been Mangla's real daughter , would she allowed Harki to make Nimboli an 11 year kid to wash clothes, utenslis, clean entire home, bring water from well etc. daily- a clear domestic child labour. Never it was shown that when Harki burdened so much of work on Nimboli's head neither did Mangla or Kamli help her in household work , but they would sit simply at home Nimboli doing all the work alone.

This is not love, love builds a person, not bounds her to the cage of physical and mental abuse.
Working for human trafficking and child labour in my own NGO, I have seen few poor, uneducated mothers existing in world who love their girl child enough to fight from all the orthodox rules of village and send them away from themselves to boarding schools supported by our organization. They to stay away from their daughter for the welfare of the child.

What Mangla feels for NImboli is sheer obsession, because in such obsession only people adopt all unconventional methods to keep the person they are obsessed with near to them, with having no concern of the future or goodness of the other person.

I believe if Nimboli was her daughter then also she probably may have made her do all that slave work. Because Mangala has lot of problems in defending herself.
First of all we saw her being abused by Akhiraj. She wasn't strong enough to fight by herself so she sought out a disguise avatar in the name of goddess. I can understand she is a weak personality hence she had to resort to that tactic and it's fine as long as it saved her.

She cannot have stopped Harki from making Nimboli do the housework because she probably believed that it was alright to make her do the work. Or maybe she never had the strong bond that a mother shares with a child so she felt it's okay to make Nimboli a slave in the house. She used to enjoy he maternal instincts in all the spare time like oiling and combing her hair and singing her lullabies.

So we saw that Nimboli was the only colour in that lady's life and now when she's about to go to her real mother Mangala can't take it. I don't know if it is maternal feelings or not which I highly doubt now. But suddenly she is strong enough to fight Anandi.

What I can conclude after watching the episodes is that Mangala becomes weak in front of a male like the strong Akhiraj but when she comes face to face with another lady like Harki she shows all her dominance and strength. I think same way with Anandi she is trying to be strong enough.

But Mangala doesn't know that Anandi is not Harki and probably she has no idea of Anandi and her powerful influences. Or else she wouldn't have been this foolish to run away

I believe, Mangala does really love nimboli, and she gets a purpose in life by protecting her. Till the time nimboli came into her life, she was just living, but her life got a meaning and sense after nimboli entered. And I think that's why no matter what she never felt the need to run away with nimboli to protect her, cuz she had found ways and methods to do whats needed, and it worked. But now she realizes that the situation is different and she may lose nimboli. Although she knows she'll be going into good hands, but her reason for living will be gone and she doesn't want to lose the only thing she does in her life, being nimboli's protector/savior. So her love for nimboli has now turned into obsession and that's really very sad.

Very well said.
Mangala is a good human being. She does care for Nimboli but is now blinded by her own insecurities.
Nevertheless, quite interesting character.

Mangala is a good person and loves Nimboli, but I also think that she is very selfish and blind in her love. If she really loved Nimboli unselfishly, she would have wanted a better life for her away from that hell-house. But she went out of her way to hide Nimboli from Anandi (this isn't the first time) and just did whatever she could to keep Nimboli with her, even if it exposed Nimboli to all sorts of torture and abuse. She did always try to save her and protect her, but we all know how successful she was since Nimboli still got beaten, starved, and such. Yet, despite knowing all of that, she prefers to have Nimboli with her and suffering than perhaps having a safer, better life with her real mother who obviously loves her and is a good person. I like Mangala's character, but she is very selfish when it comes to Nimboli.
