A/N: Guysss sorrry for late!! I was about to update an hour back but I couldn't retrieve the document! 😭 I had to write it all again 😭 Warna I had a big update already written and now I am angry on myself ☺️Make me feel good with your comments and enjoy the chapter!! 😉

Chapter4 - Mar Jayiaan

NANDINI

Manik was approaching my lips, slowly. Oh God this monkey always wants me to wait. KISS ME ALREADY YOU IDIOTT!

"Knock knock," the manager said entering the room and smiling sheepishly and yeah, breaking our moment too. Ugh! I couldn't kiss him.

I mentally made a note to punch him in the guts afterwards for not letting me kiss Manik.

He was giving me sheepish looks and Manik stood baffled. I knew what he had been thinking all that while Oh God! What was I going to do? Now she would definitely drop the song and what would she think of me? I mimicked him to myself & laughed inwardly while he stood clueless.

"So I think Mr. Malhotra has done his magic and you are now recording, no Miss Murthy?" He looked at me giving one of those crooked smiles of his.

"Erm, I think," I glanced towards Manik whose eyes were everywhere except me. I sighed and continued, "I'm in."

"Great!" He shook hands with both of us, "MD studios would be flattered to work with you both." We both just smiled while he went on, "so I guess it's high time and we should really do some work now. Miss Murthy you may come to my cabin and discuss some other important files while Mr. Malhotra you can carry on reading those lyrics and try to memorize them? They have been written by...erm, leave that, just focus on the lyrics, you'd need some time to study them, no?"

"Mr. Manager..." Manik trailed off.

"You may call me Mr. D." He winked at him.

"Yeah... So Mr. D, I don't think so that I'd need time... I mean... I've heard these lyrics somewhere and in fact, they are in my mind already." Manik said looking into the page, focused.

"..Uh...that's not possible... The lyrics are between you me and Nandini only." He said while shifting on his legs and eyeing me to help.

"Bu--"

I didn't let him speak and said, "Yeah he is right; they may be similar to the one you've heard."

"Okay, uh, so that's even great if you have already memorized them, we may proceed to the recording room." The manager spoke.

"Weren't we going to discuss some important files Mr. D?" I asked innocently as I wasn't going to let that idiot manager go so easily. I needed to talk to him.

He smiled at me nervously, "sure, let's go," and almost ran out of the room leaving me chuckling behind.

"See you in the recording," I heard him say, "sorry," I heard him whisper.

He vanished and I took myself to the manager's room.

I marched inside his cabin and, did what I wanted to since a very long time, punched him in the guts.

"Ouch," he shrieked, "that hurt."

"You deserved it, Mr. D" I said quoting "Mr. D" with my hands.

"Yaar kya hai? Kyun maara?" He asked while sipping water with one hand and massaging his stomach with the other.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier that I am going to sing with him?" I asked angrily, "and... wait, wait, wait... you already knew that... that Manik... he is... he is..." I couldn't get myself to speak further.

"Oye!" He shouted excitingly, "happy birthday!!"

"Cabir!" I snapped angrily.

"What Cabir? I thought you'd be happy after meeting him but yahan to case hi ulta chal rha hai," He spoke and kept the glass back on the table, "you met him before kya?" and then he hugged me, "aur wish hi to kiya hai why are you scolding?"

"I met him in the morning only; he was the one who brought Mukti to the hospital," I spoke, "and thanks."

"How's Mukti now?" He enquired with a serious expression.

"She's good. Aryamann and Dhruv, they both are with her." I spoke and sat on his table.

"Acha lekin wo acc... Dhruv? Hain?"

"Kyaaa?" I prolonged the "kya" trying to make him understand that I was irritated.

But what can you expect with this stupid idiot, "tune Dhruv kaha abhi!"

"Mujhe bhi pta hai maine Dhruv kaha abhi!" I spoke and made a confused face.

"Kyun kaha?"

"Cabir tu pagal hai kya? Ab main uska naam bhi nai le skti?" I asked irritably and then I realized that he still didn't know about Dhruv's comeback, "oh shit, shit, shit! Sorry yaar wo... I couldn't tell you before; he's here. He called me last night aur aaj din mein firse call aya to I told him about Mukti's condition so he came to the hospital."

"

Saare bombs aaj hi fattne hain kya?" He said and I narrowed my eyes, "phele Manik fir Dhruv..." He then took me into a side hug and started walking towards the recording room, "Acha ek bat bta, iss Dhruv ko b memory loss hua hai kya?"

"This is not funny Cabir!" I replied rashly. He started to speak when I stopped him and spoke after a long, a very long pause, "I never wished to meet him like this. It hurts Cabir, he doesn't even remember me. My face, my name, nothing!" I looked towards Cabir with tears of pain in my eyes and whispered, "This is not funny."

"I know man! This is not even close to it; I mean how can he just lose his memory like that? I still cannot believe this. I am telling you he is playing some games with us haan!"I faked a smile while he continued, "You know Nandini? I had lost all the hopes a long time back, unlike you. I had moved on and I mean it. I, not for once, looked back but he, he just came back out of the blue!" I stopped walking and turned his face towards me to speak something but he didn't let me, "aur kutte ki memory bhi gayi. Ye kya matlab hua! Ise kuch bhi nahi yaad! Our old times aur sab kuch! How can he just forget all that? Yahi dosti yahi pyaar?!"

I faked a laugh and said, "What can we do Cabir? It's just a phase and-"

He didn't let me speak yet again, "Oh please! Wo bhi ek phase hi tha jab ye banda hame chodke gaya tha! He could have faced it, like we did! And abhi ham log sab saath hote. Tu, main, Manik, Mukti, Dhruv, Aliya, Navya aur baqi sab! Sab theek hota!"

"Cabir yaar chod na! Kam se kam now he is back--"

He again stopped me from speaking, "Yaar seriously Nandu? Tu ab bhi iski side le rhi hai! Ise dekh, aaj subah tak ise tera naam bhi nai pta aur tu iske gun gaane se nai rukti."

"Stop it yaar Cabir, subah subah start hogya hai," I spoke annoyingly.

"Dopehr hai!" He snapped.

"Whatever! Just let it be, everything will be fine."

"Look whose saying!" He rolled his eyes, "tune hi balti bhar bharke rona hai ghar jake!"He spoke and went forward leaving me behind.

I knew that he was right, so right. I was about to cry at the moment when I heard his voice on the phone, when I saw him in the ward, when I ran to hug him, when he stepped back, when he hugged Soha, when I saw him again in the recording room and when he pulled back from kissing me.

"Dekh hogyi shuru!" Cabir shouted from the front and I wiped my tears which unknowingly came out.

We reached the recording room and I saw him sitting there, nervously.

"So ready Mr. Malhotra?" Cabir said and smiled at him.

He nodded and we both proceeded towards the recording area while Cabir stayed outside.

"You don't need to see the lyrics?" asked Manik.

"

I've written them," I spoke and then whispered, "with you."

He nodded, "they are beautiful."

(Meanwhile the background music had started. The song is from Vicky Donor: Mar Jaiyan. I'd recommend you to play in the background while reading down.)

I just gave him a small smile and saw Cabir looking at me empathically.

"Best of luck" I heard him say.

"All the best," I heard myself reply.

We adjusted our mikes and the music reminded me of the time when we both composed and sang that song on my terrace. Tears started to reflect in my eyes but I blinked them away.

I was again going to sing with him, the same song which we had sung previously.

Our song

Manik started singing looking towards me while I avoided his gaze. Oh the same voice, oh the same sensations!

I went down the memory lane into my teenage-hood, my happy-hood.

At that moment, I thought that it was my old Manik. He sang with all his heart and soul which made me doubt just like Cabir, what if he is really acting?
I glanced towards him while he was already looking at my side. He gave me a quick smile and we both landed up in a cute eye-lock.

I spoke while looking deep into his eyes, trying to find my lost Manik.

He was giving my eyes a very hard time; my cheeks were longing to have a bath and my eyes being all time innocent and nave just like me, opened the taps and my cheeks enjoyed the much needed bath whereas on the other hand Manik's expressions hardened seeing me cry. *Sigh* I miss him so much.
I wiped my tears and gave him a smile.

I joined him and he too smiled.

My eyes were closed by now and my Manik was again in my mind.

Manik had taken over but I still didn't open my eyes. I kept myself in the moment where I was around 8-9 years back.
That jabardasti wali practice, the titanic pose... all came into my mind and I opened my eyes.

Manik finished the song.


Cabir ran inside the recording area and hugged me tightly, "Heck! It was awesome!"

"Just like my Cabir," I replied ruffling his hair affectionately.

"Oh! My pleasure!" He bowed down and I giggled at his cute frolics.

We both noticed Manik looking at us pensively and realized that we'd totally ignored his presence.

"Don't give those looks bro, you were also good!" Cabir said cheekily and took him into a light hug. I saw how much relieved Cabir had felt while he hugged him. I wish I could also... just for once... for a second at least...no nothing.

"Nandu!" I turned back to see Aryamann, "I was coming for the recording but wo traffic jam and all..." He trailed off.

He looked at me then towards Cabir, smilingly.

But his expression changed after seeing Manik, from confusion, to shock, to amusement and then to happiness.

"Manik, bro!" Aryamann squealed, just like Mukti, and jammed inside Manik making him stumble a little. (Not what you think! xD He just hugged him:P)

Meanwhile, I and Cabir gave each other -We know what's going to happen now- looks.
