Hi guys!
I'm backkkk! đ After getting so many PMs wanting me to start another FF soon, I decided to start one up. Though I wasn't going to for a while but the idea struck while I was sitting with a friend at college and couldn't stop thinking about it. Once again, its a different story than Tum Bin, Zindagi Ka Safar, Dosti and of course Guarded Hearts. I hope you all will enjoy this one as much as all others.
It means a lot to get positive feedback and wonderful PMs. I truly look forward to them.
Happy reading!

Prologue
Life was anything but normal when Bani and Jai arrived back from their very late two-week honeymoon in Italy. Of course, they had seen very little of Italy, locking themselves in their room for the first four days, but they had enjoyed the trip and the thought that life wasn? waiting right outside. No son to get ready for school, no office to worry about. It was just the two of them in paradise?
Then again, all good things had to end and Bani was very happy to get back to their life at home. She returned to working along side of her husband and taking care of little Atharva, who was more excited than anyone that he was going to have a new baby brother or sister soon. Every night he begged Bani to let him see his sibling NOW instead of making him wait until her due date. It was a laugh now, but then she had been terrified trying to explain just WHY he couldn? see the baby and just WHERE it was right now. Of course that had led to a very interesting discussion about just HOW a baby is made and she left that to her very able, but not so willing husband.
But that had been over a month ago now and it was already late February. Rain had fallen?
And fallen?
And fallen?
Until the entire city was flooded and so many houses were ruined. Bani thought it was beautiful until she tried to walk and drive in it! Being four months pregnant and showing as much as she was made walking challenging enough, but when water came up to her knees, walking was a nightmare. She was glad that today the schools were closed and that Atharva had been invited on a play date; she needed the rest.
She sighed, sinking into the couch and rubbing her extended belly. For four months, she was huge and Jai couldn? believe how she had blossomed so quickly in such a short period of time. Speaking of Jai, she glanced at the clock; he was due home so they could go to their ultrasound together. It would be their first since before their honeymoon and the only one he had a chance to see. Just as she leaned over to grab the phone and call him, the front door swung open. She jumped slightly.
?orry, I? late, jaan. Adi needed to talk to me before I left,?Jai smiled and walked inside. He had become slightly busy since he got back from his honeymoon. Everyone in the family was shocked when he decided to take two weeks off for his honeymoon, considering he? a workaholic.
?t? all right,?she smiled and stood. As she walked to him, she pecked his lips before he took her in his arms.
?eady??he asked.
She nodded.
?hen let? go see our baby,?he grinned wider and took her hand. He led her into the chilly air and wrapped his arm around her waist. When they got to the car, he opened the door and helped her get settled inside, acting completely overprotective of her and their unborn baby. Once she was settled, he climbed in himself and headed off towards the hospital.

They waited patiently, or at least Bani was, in the well-lit lilac room in the gynecology ward. Dr. Khan was highly recommended to them by Jigayasa. Jai was pacing as Bani sat on the examination table in a medical gown.
?ai, quit it. You?l wear a run in the floor!?she groaned. He was not only driving her insane with his fussing, but he was making her dizzy to boot. She began to rub her belly.
?ell, I? impatient? he sighed and walked back to her, placing a hand on her belly as well. He would never get enough of the thought she was carrying his baby. It felt beyond wonderful to know that inside of her grew something that they both had created?hat they both would love.
?hat? obvious,?she replied sarcastically.
?he appointment was for noon and it? five after already,?he defended himself, removing his hand from her belly and crossing his arms. Now he really sounded like an expectant father.
She chuckled softly and was about to respond when the door to the room open and a beautiful brunette walked inside. Bani knew immediately that this was Dr. Khan and she felt confident that she would like this doctor.
Sabrina Khan was glowing as she entered the room. ?r. and Mrs. Walia I assume,?she teased with her smile still in tact. Bani immediately recognized the accent as one from New York. Glancing the doctor over, she noticed her physical appearance as well as the sparkling diamonds on her wedding band. She had short brown hair and big brown eyes that sparkled with delight. Her skin was the most beautiful Bani had ever seen and her cheeks looked naturally pink. Jigayasa had already promised that she was kind and funny, which Bani noticed immediately. Bani was now positive that she was going to like having Sabrina as her physician.
? know we should have come months ago,?Bani smiled back, ?ut we were at a very hectic point in our lives and by time we were able to set an appointment up, we had to wait another month.?She remembered all to well the miscarriage, marriage and moving that occurred over six months ago. Between Atharva, working and everything else, it was near impossible to find time for appointments.
?ell, I see you filled out all the information I need,?Sabrina replied, glancing at the paper work. ?nd you?e right. It is awfully late to get your first sonogram, but I understand the circumstances.?O:P>
Bani grinned. ?ell, we?e glad you did. Jigayasa said that she knew you from her college days.?
Sabrina nodded. ?igayasa and I were good friends.?She glanced at Jai, who was standing completely still. She could tell he was trying his best to be patient, but it wasn? working. Sabrina had to stifle a laugh. ?? assuming this is your first baby.?
Bani nodded, though technically Atharva was their first. ?e have an older child, but this is the first baby we?e together for. We can? wait to finally see him or her.?
?o I noticed,?Sabrina whispered. Bani giggled. ?k, let? get started before we have to resuscitate your husband over there.?Her eyes were twinkling. ?ay on back and we?l get to see your little doll on TV.?
Bani lay back slowly and took Jais?hand into her own. Suddenly, she felt very nervous. She had so many questions, was extremely worried and hoped that this baby would be healthy and make it through to the end. Bani caught her bottom lip between her teeth and looked helplessly up at Jai.
?t? all right, Bani,?Jai whispered, kissing her forehead. She simply nodded and squeezed his hand.
Dr. Khan picked up a nearby tube of KY Jelly and opened it, applying it to Bani? stomach. Bani squirmed and giggled. ?hat? extremely cold!?
Sabrina chuckled. ?on? I know it,?she grinned. Picking up the electric camera, she placed it to Bani? stomach and turned on the machine. In no time, the rapid beating of a heart could be heard and a little black and white blob appeared on the screen. Bani felt two tears roll down her cheeks as she saw the baby. Jai brushed them away as they just watched the little life sit there, its heart beating quickly and loudly, almost if doubled. After the miscarriage, this was a wonderful sign that everything would be all right. He leaned down and kissed her lips lightly.
?ell, well, well,?Dr. Khan shook her head. She moved the camera slightly and spotted the proof she needed. ? thought that heartbeat sounded a little odd, now I know why.?
?hy?!?Bani was immediately panicked, cutting off Dr. Khan before she could explain. ?he baby is all right, isn? it??
?ine, in fact, they both are. See, your baby has a little playmate.?She pointed to the screen. ?hese are their feet?ee, four of them.?Moving the camera again, she had a good view of two babies side by side. ?wins,?she smiled.
?wins??Jai was shocked. ?ou mean there are two in there??
Sabrina nodded. ?are to know their sexes??
Bani nodded, still trying to absorb the fact that she was having twins. Sabrina waited for Jai to nod and when he did, she spoke up, ?oth girls. They look as healthy as can be too, both the right size for sixteen weeks. Everything seems on target.?She moved the camera around some more, pressing a button to take some stills. Shutting off the machine she turned to Bani and Jai. ?ow I don? want to alarm you, Bani is in perfect physical health and the girls seem to be growing on track; however, it isn? odd for twins to be preemies or for one to be larger than the other at birth. Sometimes, there are health complications and c-sections are used instead of natural deliveries. I want you to know that there are chances for preeclampsia, which is high blood pressure during pregnancy. We?l have to monitor you closely and even the slightest dizzy spell means you should consult me.?
Bani nodded. ?s there anything else we should watch for??
?o, just be sure that anything unusual is reported, especially contractions. Like I said, twins do have a tendency to be premature.?
?e?l be sure to report anything and everything,?Jai replied, looking at his wife nervously. He hadn? thought about the negatives to having twins.
Sabrina smiled. ?? sure it will be fine, but I just feel it is my obligation to let you know what you?e in for. There could be a chance that Bani will be on bed rest for the final months of her pregnancy. Twins put a lot of strain on the body, more than a typical pregnancy.?She patted Bani? hand. ?ou?l be fine though. Now, why don? you go get dressed while I get the pictures together,?she motioned to the little room connected to the room, hoping they would understand that? where the printer was. She handed Jai a towel and said, ?elp mom clean up a little. I?l have the pictures at then desk for you and you can set up the next appointment with Janice up front.?
Jai nodded. ?hanks,?he said as she left.
When Bani looked over at her husband, he was beaming. ?hat??she asked.
?ani, this is amazing!?he exclaimed, wiping the gel off of her stomach tenderly. ? never even thought we could have twins. Now that we are I can? wait to have them in my arms!?
She smiled slightly. ?ell they said I would be more fertile three months after the miscarriage, but I didn? expect that fertile,?she sighed. Kissing his lips lightly, she teased, ? guess I owe you a thanks for a job well done.?
He chuckled and helped her down from the examination table. He kissed her temple gently and whispered, ? love you so much, Bani.?Then, caressing her stomach, he leaned down and added, ?nd Daddy loves both of you also.?
Bani felt a tear roll down her cheek at his sweet display and smiled slightly. ?e love you too, Jai,?she hugged him. ?ow let me get changed, ok??
He nodded. ?hen I?l take you to lunch.?
Her eyes grew wide. ?ow did you know I was hungry??
He chuckled again. ?ou?e a woman four months pregnant?ith twins! I don? need you to tell me, I just know.?
She smiled. ?an we go see Mausi afterwards and share the good news??
?ure, anything for you, sweetheart. Go on and get dressed before you catch a chill.?
Bani walked behind the curtain and took off the robe she had been wearing. She started dressing as she talked to Jai. ?ausi will be so surprised,?she stated, growing more excited now. ?wo grand babies instead of one!?
?? not sure she?l be *that* excited. She wasn? looking forward to facing the fact that she? old enough to be a grandmother.?
Bani dressed, stepped out from behind the curtain and rubbed her belly. She knew Jai was kidding about Mausi not being excited. In fact, Mausi had questioned Anu incessantly over the fact that she still wasn? pregnant. ?? a little frightened,?Bani admitted weakly.
?ani, everything will be ok, baby. We will take good care of you and when you go into labor, I?l be right there beside you, holding your hand and helping you in every way I can.?He smiled and took her hand. ?ome on? bet mausi? going to spoil you by making pokaras and samosas once she finds out we?e having twins?he chuckled changing the subject effectively.
?mm,?her eyes widened merrily. ?ou know how I love everything Mausi makes!?she squeezed his hand gently. ?et? go eat!?
He chuckled and led her out, stopping at the desk to make another appointment and pick up their photos and video. The nurse on staff handed Bani two roses, one purple and one pink.
?or the mother of twins,?she smiled. ?ee you in six weeks,?she added, handing over their sonogram photos.
They thanked her and headed back into the car, smiling brightly.
