Jhanki was Shekher's first wife!

Basically, the original plotline of the show was this:

Bose family and Garodia family used to live next to each other and the ladies used to be the best of friends (dida/dadi). And because the families were so close to each other, subsequently Shekher and Shomi became close friends and both started loving each other. They got carried away in a night of passion and had sex before marriage. Shekher went to ask Dida for Shomi's hand in marriage but Dida initially refused saying how Dadi would never accept the marriage and she didn't want Shomi to live like that/ break her friendship with Dadi. Shekher assured Dida that he would talk to his parents and get them to agree to his-Shomi marriage. So Dida agreed to the marriage and agreed to take shagun to his house to bring forth the rishta of Shomi for him.

Meanwhile, somehow Dadi/Dada Ji got to know about this and were furious. They emotionally blackmailed Shekher to stay away from Shomi and not marry her (they threatened to commit suicide if he didnt). So when Dida came to bring the rishta, Dadi insulted her horribly and alleged that Dida was after their money/ son. Dida said Shekher-Shomi loved each other and she could ask Shekher. Dadi brought emotionally blackmailed Shekher to Dida who confessed that he didn't love Shomi infront of the entire badi (including Shomi). And then he stood there quietly while Dadi continued to scream profanities at the Bose family and call them gold diggers. The friendship between Dida/Dadi broke that day and the hatred started.

It turned out Shomi was pregnant from the one night stand with Shekher so Dida quickly got her married off to some Bengali man.

Shekher, meanwhile agreed to marry the girl his family chose for him: traditional jhanki. While Shekher did love Jhanki, he didn't love her the way he loved Shomi.

Eventually, Shomi gave birth to Swara and passed Swara off as her husband's daughter. While Jhanki gave birth to Ragini a few months after.

The relationship between Shomi and her husband fell apart (she never loved him/ really got along with him) so she divorced him and returned to the colony with Swara when Swara was around 1 yr old or so. Despite living in the same area, Shomi continued to ignore Shekher and Dadi never let Shomi-Jhanki meet/ interact either.

One day, asshole Shekher approached Shomi on the terrence where eventually the truth was revealed -- Shekher refused Shomi rishta because he was emotionally blackmailed by his kids. Shomi fell for his stupid words too. Shekher said he still loved her. While this conversation was going on, Jhanki also reached the terrence and heard the conversation. She accepted that Shekher-Shomi liked each other and introduced herself to Shomi (Jhanki was a really wonderful, positive woman. dunno where Ragini came form). While introductions were going on, Dadi came to terrence too and started screaming at Shomi, yelling at her for talking to her son/daughter-in-law and calling her a bunch of names like wh**e and gold-digger. Asshole shekher just stood there again.

Jhanki took the initiative to try and calm down Dadi and took Dadi towards the stairs going downstairs from terrence. Dadi was too hyper so she was moving all around and she accidently pushed Jhanki down the terrence stairs. Jhanki fell down the stairs and was pronounced dead.

Dadi blamed Shomi for the incident and Shekher did too ( a little bit).

And then flash forward to when the show started with Swara=Ragini trying to bring their parents together ending up with the current clusterf**k we have now 😆
