As his sweet wishes clouded his mind, the car went out of his control. It was Ruhi's pat on his shoulder that woke him up from the trance. A sudden break. His little princess leaned forward suddenly hitting her head on the glass as she did not wear the seat belt. He pulled her back before she would swing out of the car in front of another car.
Crowd rounded the spot. Everyone started harrassing him for his careless driving when he was crying. Her daughter laying in his hands unconsciously. A man came forward to drive them to the nearby hospital where Ruhi's mother is working. He sat on the back seat trying his best to wake her up.
They came in the hospital after fifteen minutes. He rushed towards the casuality with Ruhi in his arms. Ishita was coming towards them after her rounds. She was checking some files that she did not see Raman and Ruhi. But Raman saw her the moment she opened the door and walked out.
"Ishita...our baby..." He literally screamed in his tears making Ishita drop her files in shock. She was beside them the next moment. He was panting. Her face smeared in tears so was his. She took Ruhi from Raman and started crying madly kissing her.
"How did this happen Raman? Ayyo...Ruhi...my baby...open your eyes...Look at amma...Rooh baby...open your eyes..." She started crying forgetting that she herself is a doctor and she should be treating her.
Dr Bhavani Sachidev came running to them on informed by a nurse about Dr Ishita acting mad in front of the casualty. She made the arrangements for Ruhi's treatment when Ishita was completely out of her senses. She was crying her heart out in Raman's arms. In no time Ruhi was taken inside the operation theatre leaving behind the two souls cluelessly looking on. Hoping for the best.
"Only if you should have been a little more careful Raman...How could you do this! So much carelessness! Bina peekar bhi ap nashe mein ho? What happened to you Raman. Did I asked you to stop drinking? Did I interfere in your personal life. All that I always wanted you to do is take care of our baby! Ruhi...she's my everything Raman. Why are you doing this to me?" She asked furiously clutching his shirt. Reasoning long forgotten.
"Have you gone mad Ishita. She is my daughter also. How can I harm her? My focus got diverted and I don't know how it happened. It was my fault that I didn't check whether she fasten the seat belt or not. But...I didn't mean to hurt her or you. I swear..." He said cupping her face.
"She's not opening her eyes...She's not...opening her...eyes Raman..." It was a mere whisper from Ishita when Raman touched his forehead on hers.
"She'll be fine...trust me...I'll take care of her...I won't ever drink from now on...I swear...!" He said taking her in a bone crushing hug.
After an hour Dr Sachidev came out. All tired. "She'll be fine...let her sleep for two hours more..." She patted Ishita's cheek and looked at Raman assuringly.
The two ours of awkwardness! "I've informed everyone...they'll be here soon..." He said closing the distance between them.
She could not help stay in his arms when he sat on the chair with her beside him. Wiping off the tears from her cheeks whenever he felt some moister there, he made her relax in his arms. Her head kept on his chest. Hands grasping his blazer tightly not to let go of him!
"I'm sorry Ishita...I was always at fault...I'm so sorry..." He kissed her hair lovingly making her break the hug and look at him confused and heard him repeating the words, "Forgive me...For everything..."
"Don't be Raman...please don't be...It'a fate!" She kissed his teary eyes.
They entered the ICU when the nurse informed them that Ruhi gained consciousness. They looked on silently crying while Raman hugged Ishita sideways. She kept her head on Raman's shoulder when Ruhi slowly opened her eyes. Trying to place the images, the first thing she could capture was her papa's teary yet smiling face.
"You're still here papa?" She almost jumped in happiness forgetting her own state. The next instant she laid back as the pain in her head started breaking her eyes. Her lips knotted as she cutely cried calling her mumma and papa saying that she cannot bear the pain. Ishita sat near her daughter trying her best to calm her down. Hugging her, she sobbed silently, gazing at Raman throwing a glare as if asking, 'How can you be so rude...!'
That look does not mean that she suddenly forgot Raman's apologies and explainations on the accident. In fact, he did not ask for forgiveness to her for that. His concern was something else. So was her. Her big beautiful eyes blamed him for parting her daughter from her. Yes, she was crying hugging Ruhi, not on watching her in such a state but meeting her and hugging her as her mother. After a long time!
"Mumma..." Ruhi called in her sweet voice.
Breaking the hug Ishita looked at Raman for a last time and barged out of the ICU without sparing a glance back at her daughter. She very well know how to hide her tears from Ruhi. Raman stood guilty when Ruhi constantly called him asking for her mumma. He sat near her caressing her head. Blowing a kiss on her forehead he murmured, "Shagun mumma will be here soon baby..."
