I do get that all 'such scenes in shows' are meant to be symbolic and all that. However, a marriage requires the basic minimum rituals in order for it to be called a marriage. Merely applying sindoor, that too out of duress, cannot be considered "marriage", I'm sorry. I'm no upright aunty, but marriage ain't a joke.

SwaSan are not married.

In my tradition we used to have a ritual of giving pudava ie guy gives his to be wife a traditional saree infront of elders and that is considered as marriage, there was no mangalsutra, sindoor or even varmala, my grand parents got married that way... now also in my caste giving pudava is important.. mangalsutra and sindoor were included later... my parents wedding there was no filling maang with sindoor ritual...we still don't have sangeet, mehendi or haldi ritual...that doesn't mean wedding are incomplete.. it all depends on culture and one's belief... for certain culture filling maang is important for some it's not..
and in serial world if you fill maang with sindoor it is considered as marriage... this is not happening for 1st time in serial .. so if we go by that logic SwaSan are married

Thanks so much for 'bursting my bubble', I appreciate that. 😃 But nope, in so-called "drama land" too they are NOT married. Because our dear Sanky uttered the pearls of wisdom: "Sirf sindoor lagane se koi pati-patni nahin ban jata."

Hokay, dahling?

That's the tradition of a certain community, not mainstream. Swara Sankskar belong to a community where ONLY sindoor is not marriage.
