Katti Batti is going to depend on word of mouth with the urban audiences and the growth on Saturday will decide the fate of the film. The opening will be an issue for the film as it is niche, the music has not taken off and on top off that a very weak male lead who has no draw. The last film Gori Tere Oyaar Mein was a washout and even before that the initials were weak in core Hindi markets. There is Kangana Ranaut coming of a blockbuster film like Tanu Weds Manu Returns but that won't help much as it was the content that worked there in a big way and not star pull.
The director is the same as last week's Hero and has a very bad track record which also does not help. Hero had ready made blockbuster content and the film opened well enough but still misfired and the hope with Katti Batti will be that the director has somehow done a better job with this film.
The pluses are that the competition is weak so it has a week to itself. The failure of Hero is also a plus as it has no holdover film competing with it as Welcome Back is coming to the end of its run. But these pluses are external and to get a start it needed an internal plus or two. 😆
