OneKaran looked at his watch for the umpteenth time 'Zack, if you're not out here in two minutes you can make your own damn way' he said with annoyance. 'Am here...man you have no patience' 'and you take longer than any woman getting ready...and the worst part is you still look like a mutt'. Karan walked off towards his jeep leaving his best friend rolling his eyes behind him.
Zack and Karan had been friends for as long as they could remember. Trinity college had never seen two young men who were ace at absolutely everything, the most popular kids on the block made them that much more desirable. Their good looks and charm, their affluent back grounds brought them more female attention than they could handle.
Rich but not spoilt, the two of them were truly a role model for many young people, they had accomplished so much in such a young age.
Karan, Zack along with another group of friends were off on a road trip, something they had all planned to do after graduation and before they all parted to go off to university. Karan's ambition was to become a world famous journalist, to travel the world and explore the unexplored. History, religion, culture and traditions fascinated him, Karan an only child was given every luxury in life but along with that came a zest to live life to the fullest.
Zack was a lot like Karan, he was a science student and was going on to study biomedical sciences. With his parents living across the seas Zack spent his life as Karan's shadow; he lived with him and his family, even referred to his parents as his own.
The group consisted of 5 Karan, Zack and the love of his life Alayna, Jai and Sana. Zack and Alayna had been together for the best part of three years and were truly in love. 'What took you guys so long?' 'Your boyfriend's make up session' Karan said walking past her. Alayna looked at Zack and started to laugh 'what? Wanting to look perfect is a crime now?' Alayna went and put her arms around him 'for me you are perfect no matter what you look like' Karan turned around 'she's lying'. Zack ignored him and looked at Alayna 'just wait until the day that moron falls in love...' ' Karan and fall in love...now that I have to see...I wish he would open up more' 'One day soon Insha'Allah'.
Sana and Jai met the rest of them in college and had been friends ever since, Sana and Jai were also together, but theirs was a new found love. It took them a long time to come out their shells and confess, thanks to Alayna the ever romantic and Zack.
The five travellers set of on their road trip of India; all had chosen a destination which they wanted to visit. As the trip was Karan's idea he got first preference their first stop was Jaipur, then Shimla, Agra, Hyderabad and Goa before they returned home to Mumbai.
The journey to Jaipur from Mumbai was going to take them around 16 hours, but they were far from being fazed by the distance or time of their journey, this was all about having fun and taking in every experience possible.
They all took it in turns to drive; stopping off for regular breaks they truly had a blast. Every so often Karan would look back at his friends and smile, he was truly going to miss them, Sana and Jai were staying in India to continue their studies, Zack and Alayna were off to London and Karan off to the USA. They had all planned to meet once a year but he knew that even then he was going to feel lost especially without Zack.
As much as Karan was lively and outgoing he never managed to find love, it wasn't that he didn't believe in it. For one his ambition in life was to succeed, and for that he knew he had to work hard and secondly he never let any girl near him, the only two that managed to get close to him were Sana and Alayna, and to him they were like his sisters. Alayna and Sana would always try and get him to go out, encouraging him to at least try and befriend someone but he kept saying one thing 'I will not find love, love will find me and when it does you will know'.
Little did Karan know that this road trip was about to totally change the direction of his life but his entire being.
