Mangala is an empowered widow from the beginning because Akheraj let her be so by not killing her in some way. Maybe he wanted her for other pleasures and still waiting.

Beating Kundan is not due to empowerment but uncontrollable anger against him.

Her approach to most of the issues are driven by practicality than idealism.

She reacts to some issues strongly, to some issues less strongly and to some issues not at all except feeling anguish.

She had enough reasons to use violence against Harki(when Harki burned Nimboli's hands and tied Nimboli in the forest) but she looked on helplessly or with some indifference.

She had enough reasons to take on Akheraj and the most important reason is two killings, the former related to her husband. Yet she did not beat him the way she beat Kundan.
Kundan was much more brutal with Urmi but Mangala did not react thinking that its ok.
Only In nimboli's present case, she reacted.

Coming to her goals. Now she wants Nimboli should be with her and not taken away.
She will keep Akheraj and family in fear of losing elections, police so that Nimboli will be safe in that house only.

Beating Kundan was also anger against Akheraj. If Akheraj would've reprimanded that boy even once then this wouldn't have happened. Even now because his parents support him he can still go after Nimboli.

Trying to beat almost 7 ft tall Akheraj is not the most sensible way to teach him a lesson.

Personally i like Mangala's approach! It helps her to survive! If she had used her devi acts to get everything in life, the act would not have been so useful at time of dire needs! It would have lost it's meaning and Akheraj would have locked Mangala calling her a possessed mad woman! Mangala tries to use her act only on special occasions so that it's effetcs remain strong on the people!

We become what we think. This is for Mangala. This is difference between reality and illusion. During urmi s time same women felt so helpless and was even thinking of calling Anandi but same women today became a tigress. A wounded tigress. No fear, nothing. A person realises it powers in worst situations. Sometimes these situations are important to empower you.Today Mangala is fearless and can even threaten akhiraj. Same with Kamli she also changed after gopal s murder.
