Chapter 15 - Side Characters

Recap - Jodha has a chat with Moti about the dinner date failure. Jodha and Jalal share some moments in his office and they each reveals to the other that someone in their family knows about their relationship. Adham's side of the story is shown. Suryabhan wishes he didn't have to attend the business meeting and is looking forward to the day he and Jodha meets.
The same day, JM Corp.
Adham was pacing in front of Jalal's office thinking whether or not he should meet Jalal. Part of him wanted to meet Jalal and hug his little brother but another part of him was still afraid of being rejected by his brother. Just as he mustered all his courage and put his hands on the door knob, the door opened.
Jodha opened the door and found Adham standing in front of her.
"Mr. Khan." She greeted.
"Miss Sharma, how are you?"
"I'm fine Sir, how are you? I do hope you feel better now."
"What? Oh, yes I'm feeling much better. Thank you." He replied remembering that he took leave stating that he was sick.
"Is there anything I can help you with Sir?"
"No, it's okay. I will come back later."
"Oh, okay."
Just as Adham was about to turn around Jalal appeared behind Jodha asking.
"Miss Sharma, what is with..." His words were unfinished as he took in Adham standing there. Jodha took in the sudden silence and looked back and forth between Jalal and Adham.
"H-Hi Jalal, how are you?" Adham broke the silence first.
"Bhai..."
"I was just about to... I should leave."
"No, bhai wait!"
"I'm sorry Jalal, I know I shouldn't have come here."
"Bhai please, come on in. We'll talk there."
"Jalal..."
"Please bhai." He pleaded and Adham couldn't help but think of how Jalal always makes the puppy eyes to persuade Adham to buy him things that he wanted and how he always give in to see that smile on his little brother's face.
"Okay." He said nodding as a smile grew on his face.
"Jodha, could you bring us some coffee, extra sweet for bhai."
The two man went in the office while Jodha went to get them coffee.
"So, you haven't answered me earlier. How are you?"
"I'm fine bhai, you?"
"Still alive." He joked carelessly.
"Why do you say that?" Jalal asked angry that Adham would joke like that so carelessly.
"Jee I don't know, you tell me."
"What?"
"Do you even care if I'm alive or dead Jalal?! I mean fine you're angry for what happened but it's been 5 years damn it! Can't you just forget it and ... Look, I know how hurt or betrayed you must have felt but..." Jalal cuts him before he could finish saying.
"You don't know a thing."
"I don't know a thing?! How was I suppose to know when you didn't let anyone near you Jalal! You bloody well know how much I, bade ammi and bade abbu love you and you just shut us out Jalal! You never gave us a chance to be there for you."
"Maybe because I didn't want you there!"
"What about bade ammi and bade abbu? If you hated to see me fine, but why shut they out too?! What was their fault Jalal?!"
"I don't have to give you any explanations."
"I don't want your bloody explanation or excuses Jalal! I want you to open your eyes and see what you have missed out on these 5 years!"
"You have no rights to advice me! You are not even my brother!" Jalal vented out his anger on Adham and immediately regretted what he said. "I-I didn't mean..."
"No, you're right, I'm not even your brother. But I have always loved you Jalal and you know that. If I can stop what happened that day, I would have stopped it Jalal. I tried very hard to not let ammi find you but she did. There's never been a day where I never regretted trying harder to prevent it from happening Jalal."
There was a knock on the door before Jalal could say a word.
"Come in." He said.
"I brought coffee for the two of you." Jodha said as she put down the tray and excused herself.
As the door shut, Adham continued
"I'm not here to ask you to forgive me Jalal, I just want my chotu back. I want my chotu who was so full of life back then, he doesn't have to talk to me or see me if he doesn't want to but I want him back. Not the him that turned into a heartless monster Jalal." He looked up to Jalal with unshed tears in his eyes.
"B-Bhai. I'm sorry. I-It's just that I hate it when people talk about what happened that day. I didn't mean anything I said earlier."
"No worries, you were taking out your frustrations on me the same way I was doing to you."
"I'm really glad to see bhai."
"As am I."
"Will you forgive your chotu?" Jalal asked with a grin.
Adham broke into laughter and said "Of course I will, though you're a little too old to be called chotu don't you think?"
"But, no matter how old I am, I will always remain as your chotu right?"
"Yes. Now, get over here and give your bade bhai a hug." Adham said opening his arms wide.
Both brother gave each other a bear hug after many years and were happy that finally thing were getting better than it once was.

"When are you planning to tell her Maina?" Bharmal asked his wife who just walked into their bedroom.
"What do you mean ji?" She asked a little confused.
"Jodha. When are you planning to tell her that we fixed her rishtha without her consent?" Bharmal asked again this time more agitated with his wife's ignorance.
"Oh, I was waiting for a good time to tell her."
"When? On the day she sits on the mandap?" He questioned sarcastically.
"Why are you getting angry for?"
"Because you're dragging the matter Maina, God knows how Jodha is going to react when she finds out about this matter."
"What do you mean how she's going to react?! She is my daughter, she will say yes to what I say."
"How can you be so irresponsible Maina?"
"I am irresponsible?! You were the one who agreed!"
"Don't you dare put the blame on me Mainawati! You and I both know that you were the one who kept pressing on how we would miss out on a good rishtha if we waited for Jodha's consent."
"Oh, so now I'm at fault huh?! Did I force you to agree with me? You agree on your own free will, I never forced you."
"So, this is how it's going to be? Putting the blame on me?! If I knew this is going to happen I wouldn't have agreed to your stubbornness."
"My stubbornness?! I only want the best for my daughter, is that so wrong!"
"I'm not saying it is wrong Maina, but do you even realise that we didn't give our Jodha a chance to choose whether she is ready to settle down or not" Bharmal said calming down a little.
"Oh please, do you even realise that you pamper her too much, that's why she is lying right under our nose now."
"What do you mean?"
"Why don't you ask your daughter who she met last night."
"What? She said she was meeting Moti didn't she?"
"No, she lied she didn't meet Moti."
"What nonsense are you saying Maina if she did not meet Moti then who did she meet?"
"I don't know but I know that she lied to me for the first time. She's changed."
"But why would she lie to us? It doesn't make any sense."
"Maybe because she found herself a lover."
"Don't you dare accuse her without any proof Mainawati!"
"You want proof?! How about her dressing up just for a dinner with Moti? Or how about the way she was practically glowing when she came up blushing or how she went in a black Mercedes Benz and not a silver Honda City!" She lashed out her frustrations at Bharmal.
"When did you..." He was tongue tied at how his wife was keeping a hawk eye on Jodha.
"You didn't think I would let go of the fact that she was all dressed up as though she was going for a date did you? Well sorry but no, I am not going to accept this behavior from her. She better break off whatever she has going on before she meets Suryabhan's parents at Sukanya's wedding or I won't sit down quietly."
Mainawati left the room leaving Bharmal to think what is he going to do about his daughter Jodha.
*******************************************
After the talk she had with Jodha which made Sukanya decide on planning a surprise for her cousin, she started going through everything that should be done and how it should be done. Her main priority was for her to contact a very important person first to make this surprise a success. However getting ahold on that person had been much harder than she had initially thought.
All her hard work paid off when that person agreed to help her play a part in her surprise for Jodha and even helped adding a few surprises for Jodha. Now that her main concern is rest assured, she only had to convince Raghav. Raghav had immediately agreed to help out and he fulfilled his promise until finally the big day is here.
The day of her wedding will not only change her life but change her dear cousin, Jodha's life too.
Precap - Sukanya's Wedding. š³
I know I said this chapter is going to be the 1 month leap of Sukanya's wedding but then I realised I never gave any closure on Adham's part so this chapter is more of a filler. Next chapter there might be JJ part and lot of things are going to happen. š
