I am glad you were finally able to read this one. I knew you would like it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Episode 12 is splendid, a must watch.

Maham is a very strange character, rather like Catherine de Medicis or Lucrezia Borgia, except that those two were royals. She was just a daasi, who struck gold because of Jalal's overdeveloped sense of gratitude. Very few kings are like Jalal in this respect.

I still somehow feel that she loved Jalal in her own schizophrenic way, next to Adham, for Jalal is the son she would have wanted to have. But that love is poisoned by her obsession with Adham. She would never agree, even as late as the Atifa affair, to have Jalal killed. She only wanted him dethroned. It is a perfect subject for a deep psychological study!

Whatever she was, she is fascinating, and Ashwini makes her even more so. A pity Ruqaiya was not allowed to shape up in like fashion.

Of course I will read your post and comment on it. By that time, I had left the forum, which is probably why I did not see it in the first place.

In MA's case particularly, I simply cannot turn my mind immune to what she turned out eventually...this is NOT lamenting by any means...now, the moment she comes on screen, I try to analyse what is the hidden meaning in her words...

Initially, I thought that maybe MA was inherently evil, yet, she loved Jalal with all her heart...but was proven totally wrong by MA herself gradually...

My heart went out to Jalal, esp in epis 10 & 12...he has genuine love for an evil woman who is shamelessly camouflaging her evil intentions with the purest form of love in this world, maternal love...he is the doting son to a most selfish, diseased & evil foster mother who struck gold when she got the opportunity to nurse the future emperor.
