In classical singing they are all novices

When a singer sings classical or semi-classical songs, the real dimensions of his/her voice come to the fore. In the classical songs episode, it was clear that all the singers have MILES to go before they reach anywhere. All right, some of their songs might become 'hits' in the near future thanks to the generosity of their fans, but sorry, all of them are only on the first rung of the ladder of musical excellence.
Aneek, of course did the best in the classical round. His tarana in "Laaga chunari mein daag" was very good. However, in the earlier part of the song, because of the immaturity in his voice, he could not do full justice to it. As Jagjit Singh pointed out, his voice lacks maturity but once he reaches a certain age, he might sound better.
Raja, I am afraid was the worst in the classical round. I expected more from him. He is supposed to be from a classical singing lineage. He sounded like a novice.
Amanat did fairly well but what happened to his breathing? Why was he breathing as if he had just run a race and then started singing?
Poonam did fairly well too, but then again, she needs to do riyaaz. The lack of classical riyaaz shows.

All of them need to do more riyaaz on the lower notes. High notes are in fashion, they get all the applause, but lower notes are equally important!
All in all, though I am pleased that the contestants attempted semi-classical songs, I am sad that except Aneek, the others are not doing rigorous riyaaz.

Ok, I just got the explanation for Amanat's breathing problem. He might have been fasting.
