Katrina Kaif gave an interview to Vogue a few days ago where she clarified why her blood boils' when she is referred to as Ranbir Kapoors girlfriend. Her reasons are valid enough and we've told you about her displeasure regarding the same. But here's another thing Katrina said which seemed a little off to me (in my humble opinion).
People say I am not open, but is being open only talking about your relationships? I don't think I am feminist but I don't think an actress should be made to speak about the men in her life when there is so much more to her and what she has achieved. We need to respect that.
Err, Katrina what you said is exactly what feminism stands for. Anyway, it's good that successful women like her have taken a stand on the importance of a woman's individuality

I think the exact quote was that "I don't think I'm overtly feminist" not that she isn't one at all. Way to go journalists!

I feel true feminist are thise who dont shout it out from the rooftops..
Eg. madhuri - who was getting paid higher than her heroes in her day but never tomtommed the fact.

Vidya balan who quietly turned the tables on the tradition of the male playing the protagonist all the time..and never proclaimed it, she just did it.

Katrina who is in showbiz, glamour, entertainment but never plays to public by dolling up, never wears accessorized clothes by stylists even for an airport appearance, because she was never into it, . never lets the press question her beyond her films at press conferences or gives interviews to stardust, filmfare or other mags even if it means foregoing publicity. She lets her film do the talking and it never affected her popularity.

Not really. She did kind of brag here and there.

Buy a dictionary.

overt (adjective)
done or shown openly; plainly or readily apparent, not secret or hidden.

She has been in this industry for so long and has achieved so much yet media always talk abt her relationships with whoever she dates.. Ofcourse she would be upset.. Ask about her hardwork, ask about her work.. Why annoy her with sane relationship questions? Just because she said she doesnt want to talk abt the man in her life, makes her feminist?? She hardly talked more than a page on her personal life before so when she says she doesnt want to talk abt it, its suddenly a crime?? And since when being feminist is a wrong thing or a crime?? When men can be abusive or cheating their wives behind their back because they think too highly of themselves, why cant she think highly abt herself?? When she has reached where she is today and sustained with hardwork, she deserves to be known for it than her bf.. I admit lately some of her W*F statements did put me off, but she has far better personality offscreen than most of her contemporaries..
