another thing in serial it is shown that it is compulsory for husband to be with wife during karva and teej .in serial it is shown that is compulsory that women should drink water from husband onlyduring teej and karva

but in reality there is no such compulsory .women who keep fast on karva can drink water by her own if husband is not with wife at that time .and it is not compulsory husband should remain with wife during teej and karva

I read there are many types of teej like Akha teej, hariyali teej, kajari teej, hartalika teej etc...

Thanks to everyone! I didn't know moon is significant in karwa chauth only. 😊

But many articles on web say women complete their fast only when the moon appears in the sky during kajari teej. 😕

Teej is a fasting ritual kept by women for the well being of their husband. However the more specific reason to celebrate teej is to celebrate the reunion of Lord Shiv and Goddess Parvati! It also celebrates the season of spring and hence we see those swings decorated with flowers! Karva Chauth is like a traditional romantic gesture of wives for their husbands! It is kept only for their well being and long life! No other reason. Most importantly Karva Chauth is only celebrated in North india whereas Teej is celebrated in West India too.
Personally i felt Anandi and Ganga's fasting unnecessary when they had become a divorcee! It might be true that a married woman has to continue keeping fast till her husband or estranged husband's death but nowadays people don't believe in such thinking as they accept the concept of divorce. BV was probably trying to show the inner goodness of these female characters who have kept fast for their estranged husbands despite everything.
As for your question as to why Gehna, Dadisa and Anandi do not keep the fast now: the answer is that the true intention behind keeping the fast is lost with their husband's death! It is kept for their safety and well being but what's the use of keeping the fast for those who are already under God's care!
Daddu merely kept the fast in his late wife's memory! From tradionalist pov neither was it allowed nor needed but from an unorthodox pov there was no harm in keeping it! It must have also saved lots of food in Shekhar household 😆

Btw i agree about the unnecessary drama over the necessity of husband's presence in karva chauth vrat! Basically in t.v serials and specially before BV, every family used to keep karva chauth whether it was part of their culture or not! And funnily all followed the punjabi style of keeping the fast 😆
Not every method of keeping karva chauth includes looking at the moon with jhalni!

I don't know much about kajri teej but in karva chauth worship of moon is necessary seeing husband face is not at all necessary during karva chauth

as it is shown in serial that there is compulsory for women can break karwa chauth fast only after seeing husband face they will not eat anything unless they see husband face

but actually in order to break karwa chauth fast only worship of moon is necessary in order to break karwa chauth fast seeing husband face is not at all necessary

Khuchh jyada hi nautanki dikhate in hai serial mein like hum is ghar ko nahi bechenge kyonki iski har diwal aur ek ek eet pur sabki yaaden Judi hui hain . is mandir ki aarti is ghar ki badi bahu Hi karegi

another great nautanki that bahu is asking everyone in laws house what each member like to eat during breakfast and bahu is preparing break fast according to each member liking but in reality it is not at all possible for a bahu to prepare break fast according to everyone likes .everybody eat same type o breakfast in reality

Well said
The bahus of our T.V serial are superwoman!
They do all the household work of whole house! I remember the serial where the bahu is said to all the work and when i say all i mean all! Like cooking, washing clothes, teaching all kids of the house (even nieces and nephews) and etc. In real life the household work is generally divided between all the women of the house! No one can work alone for all 10-15 members of house 😆
They cook so much food as if there is some party or festival! And on top of that both finner and lunch are given equal importance! People generally eat left over specially if so much food is prepared on daily basis!
What really makes me laugh is how these women control every aspect of their husbands' lives including clothes! I never saw my mother pick clothes for my father on daily basis but in serials these men need spoon feeding even while choosing what to wear at office 😲

yes in real life husband choose on their own what to wear at office .yes wife can gave them suggestions but it is not necessary that husband has to do that only what wife is telling and it is notwife has to do only that what husband telling

there is bhandar of so much nautanki in serial like sasu telling bahu from now onwards responsibility is on u so I am giving u key and mother in law lovingly keeping key on hand of Palm of bahu but in reality nothing such happen .key r kept inside drawer ?if anyone want money he and she can take key from drawer and take money from almirah

another nautanki the day bahu enter in-laws house after marriage .next morning bahu will get up even before sunrise then taking bath and doing aarti and then giving prasad to everyone and touching feet

but in reality marriage performing is very tiring work .as soon as marriage work is perform people like to have good sleep because they r. very tired due to marriage work no body get up so early in morning when marriage work is completed

Gauri/Parvathi Devi is a form of Adi Para Shakti who is Parama Prakriti according to ancient spiritual texts. She is Divine Mother of entire universe. Shakti & Shiva are inseparable. They always exist together and they are the reason for our existence.

Without Shakti we will never be able to perform any activity. Without Shakti there is no creation/preservation/destruction. Hence worship of Divine Mother is recommended during various occasions. One of them is Teej during the month of Saavan i.e, rainy season. We need to thank divine mother for giving us good rains and greenery for the past year and pray for good rains, abundance of greenery and good harvest for the present year.

There is a legend where Goddess Parvathi takes 108 births and in her 108th birth she is united with Lord Shiva by performing Tapas. Actually this is a symbolic story. Here Shiva represents Paramatma (Supreme Soul) and Parvathi represents Jivatma (Individual Soul). They are referred as husband and wife in spiritual world. This means every individual needs to develop devotion to unite with Supreme Soul. This is told as husband and wife story but it is not related to husband and wife in earthly world.

Anyone ( young or old, Married,Unmarried or Widowed, Rich or Poor doesn't matter) who is filled with gratitude can express their love and be grateful for all that they received from god.

People while worshiping god request to fulfill their wish like health, wealth, children etc. esp. married women wish for long life of husband...some pray for long life of everyone near and dear. Some pray for universal well being like saints. So there is no restriction like only married women can perform teej pooja. Teej is not just husband wife festival. It is more than that.

Husband's long life is married women's wish but all festivals are made to strengthen devotion in humans. They give an opportunity for people to connect with god.
