Like someone said earlier, nobody in BW gets a debut by their merit solely (except in few rare cases of beautiful women like Anu and Deepika that got breaks after they auditioned)...but most people get movies because of their family or social connections. Merit wise, I can see only HR and Ranbir having extraordinary merit to come out of their star kid mold and make a name for themselves. Others are still known for being somebody's daughter/son/nephew etc.

salman khan.he went for auditions like normal people,salim khan has never produced any movie,forget abt launching salim khan wasn't confident that salman can make it.

Sons of star actors have 10 % chance of doing better than their fathers(in recent times)

That 10 % is Hrithik Roshan,Sunny Deol.

Actresses have a better ratio..kajol,twinkle,kareena,karishma

P.S. oops forgot Sanju..but it will still be 10 percent..more than 30 star sons have certainly tried their luck in Bollywood..

Shahid worked as a background dancer in Taal.

He really started from very bottom.

His real mom as his reel mom in Ishq Vishk was just a mere co-incidence.

In fact if I remember correctly, Ken Ghosh (director of Ishq vishk) even said in an interview that Nilima came on board after Shahid was confirmed.
