Chapter 6

Zoya waited for him to say something but he didn't. "Mr. Khan, please kuch boliye," she urged. Asad pushed his chair back and stood up. "I am sorry I can't," he told her. Zoya looked at him hurt. He didn't want this relationship. It didn't mean anything to him. What were you thinking Zoya? Why did you have to tell him what she felt? She should have just shut up and never said a word. It's not like he understood what others felt anyways. She stood up from her seat. Asad felt terrible. Maybe he had conveyed what he felt in a hurried way. He stepped forward and she stumbled back. Asad could see a fear in her eyes. His heart felt a dagger pass through it. They both recalled a painful moment of their past.

It has been a month since she had arrived. According to him, she has been stupid many times. Her impulsive nature has caused him and his family many problems, at least that's what he thought. She had tried to secure the house leading for him to trip and fall, breaking his phone. Zoya had apologized many times but he had been adamant on his word that she was irresponsible, immature, and didn't know how to behave. Zoya was hurt but the love she received from Najma and Dilshad always made her feel better. She had tried to make Dilshad and Rashid meet though unknowingly, and caused a scene in the house. Zoya has said sorry for that too but he didn't care. The pain of the past was too deep that one apology could resolve it. Things kept happening and they both just couldn't stand each other. In midst of all this, Asad and his family were invited for a wedding in Mangalpur. The day of the wedding, Zoya had learned that Mariam, who was the bride has been forced to accept this proposal. The groom had assaulted the girl and in order to save the family's izzat, they were getting them married. Zoya, being Zoya, had become hysterical. She couldn't believe that this was happening. Zoya had helped Mariam run away from the venue. This has obviously created a huge mess at the wedding. Everyone had blamed Dilshad for bringing Zoya to the marriage. Zoya had defended herself saying that what they were doing was wrong. Mariam should not be forced to marry the guy who had exploited her. She argued that Mariam deserved better. What she didn't realize what that her opinion didn't matter to the people of Mangalpur. Asad and the family were in grave danger, he had returned home with so much difficulty. Asad had gone ballistic! He had screamed his head off at her. Dilshad, as usual, had tried her best to save Zoya from Asad's wrath. Few days later, Mariam had showed up at the Khan house. Zoya had been happy to see her. "Thank god Mariam keh tum theek ho. Lekin tum yaha kya karahi ho?" she asked. "Bhaji...main kaha jaati. Mere Bhaijaan Dubai mein hai aur main unke paas jaane kehliye yaha aayi ho. Par kuch time lagega, please tabh tak mujhe yaha rehne ki ijazat deh dijiye," Mariam requested. "Mariam, main toh tume rehne dehdo. Lekin, Mr. Khan koh paata chalega toh woh meri jaan ley lenge," Zoya said worried. "Tum ek kaam karo, yaha paas mein ek hotel hai, tum waha chali jao. Main tuamre liye kuch paise laati hoon," Zoya said. "Nahi bhaji, mujhe paise nahi chahiye," Mariam denied. "Nahi Mariam, I wish I could do more. But, for now, main itna hi karsakthi hoon," Zoya told her. As Mariam waited at the door, Zoya went inside to get some clothes and some money for Mariam. She wished that she could do more for Mariam. Zoya felt bad. When she returned to the living room, Zoya saw Dilshad sitting and talking with Mariam. "Phuphi, aap?" Zoya said shocked. "Aree Zoya, aaona. Dekho Mariam aayi hai," Dilshad invited. Zoya nervously smiled as she looked at Dilshad and Mariam. "Kya hua Zoya?" Dilshad asked. "Phuphi...aap toh jaante hai keh Mangalpur mein kya hua tha. Mr. Khan bahut naraaz honge," Zoya told her. "Zoya, tum bhul kyun jaati ho keh main tumare Mr. Khan ki Ammi hoon," Dilshad stated. Zoya felt her heart skip a beat hearing Dilshad refer to Asad as "tumare Mr. Khan." "But phuphi," Zoya spoke when Dilshad interrupted. "Forget it Zoya, aao," Dilshad said. Soon, Dilshad, Zoya, Mariam, and Najma were chatting away with coffee and snacks accompanying them.

Suddenly, the door bell rang. Zoya offered to check and went to get the door. She opened the door and was shocked. "Aap log," she said. They pushed her aside and entered the house. "Bhaijaan...aap," Mariam said terrified. Dilshad moved Mariam behind her. "Dekho beta, joh bhi nikkhe keh din hua woh theek nahi tha. Par aabh joh bhi hua hai usse bhul jao. Mariam tumari choti behen hai," Dilshad tried to reason. "Isne humare khandaan ki izzat keh saath khela hai, aabh isse zinda rehane ka kohi haq nahi hai," Rahman, one of Mariam's brothers yelled. Zoya joined Mariam, Dilshad, and Najma. "Dekhiye, aap phuphi se izzat se baat kijiye," Zoya said. "Aur tu ladki, tujhe kisine tameez nahi seekayi hai. Jab badhe baat karahe hote hai toh beech mein nahi bolte," Rahim, another brother firmly stated. "Yeh ghar phuphi ka hai aur aap unse hi aise baat karahe hai. Kaise log hai aap, apni hi behen keh peeche aisa padh gaye hai," Zoya said, still in disbelief. Dilshad motioned Najma to leave and call Asad. "Zoya, chodo beta," Dilshad said. "Nahi phuphi, yeh log kya samaj the hai? Kya Mariam koh kohi haq nahi hai apni life mein decision leyne kya? Agar yeh log tabh bhi Mariam keh saath wahi karte joh woh ek ladka hoti," Zoya questioned. "Tum chup rahogi ya nahi?" Rahman threatened. "Zoya, tum please chup raho," Dilshad said as she pulled on Zoya's arm. "Main tume chodonga nahi,"Rahim said as he pulled out a gun. The three ladies were stunned. "Yeh kya karahe ho Rahim? Allah keh waaste sabar se kaam lo. Yeh tum kya karahe ho?" Dilshad tried to calm him. "Aap bheej mein mat aayiye. Raaste se hath jayiye," Rahman said. "Aap log bachenge nahi! Main police mein complaint karongi," Zoya told them. "Tum chup nahi reha sakthi," Rahman said as he angrily pushed Zoya. Zoya fell to the ground while Mariam and Dilshad moved apart concerned about Zoya. Rahim pulled the trigger as Mariam came in view. Everything happened so fast but the next moment, Zoya saw Dilshad fall to the ground, her clothes stained with blood. "Phuphi!" Zoya screamed. Raham, Rahim, and the others heard someone pull into the driveway and they ran away. Zoya ran up to Dilshad while Najma also joined them. "Ammi," she said. Zoya cradled Dilshad into her lap, "Phuphi...aap theek toh haina?" she asked worried. Zoya, Najma, and Mariam had tears in her eyes. "Najma...tum ambulance koh phone karo," Zoya said. "Mariam...tum Mr. Khan koh bhulao. Phuphi please apni aankhe kholiye na," Zoya cried as she saw Dilshad fall into a daze. "Bhaijaan phone nahi utaraha hai, maine phone kiya tha," Najma told them as she dialed the ambulance. "Phuphi please...apne aankhe kholiye," Zoya said, caressing Dilshad's cheek. The next instant, they saw Asad standing at the door...frozen. He felt his whole world black out seeing his mother in a pool of blood. He wanted to go to her, gather her in her arms, and rush to the hospital. But, his brain wasn't processing anything. "Bhaijaan," Najma called out to bring him out of the trance.

Few hours later, they all stood outside the operation theatre with the doctors and nurses attending to Dilshad. Zoya was trying really hard to contain herself as she had to be strong for Mariam and Najma who was sobbing. In this short time, Dilshad has not been anything less than a mother for her. And today, to see her in the cradle of her arms in pain, she will probably never be able to forget that. Her eyes drifted towards him. She saw him standing in the corner staring out in space. Dried tears stained his face. Zoya stood up debating if she should go to him or not. Just then, the doctor stepped out of the operation theatre. Everyone rushed towards him asking about Dilshad. "I am sorry Mr. Khan but she is critical. I suggest keh aap sabh koh bol deh, aur aapke abu koh bhi," the doctor explained. Everyone felt the color drain out of their faces. Najma cried as she hugged Asad. Mariam too sobbed. Zoya felt tears run down her cheeks as she stepped back and left from there. A little while later, Zoya had sat in peace and prayed for Dilshad. She prayed for the wellbeing of her mother. When she returned, Zoya learned from Najma that Asad has went to his father's house to inform him about Dilshad. Her eyes searched for him but he was nowhere to be seen. She told Mariam to take care of Najma and went to find him. Walking down the hallway, Zoya found him in a corner leaning on the balcony. She slowly went up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Mr. Khan," she said worried. He jerked her away! She stumbled back and hit her arm on a nearby cart which contained glass isntruments. Before she could register what happened, he pinned her to the wall. "Tumari wajase hua hai yeh sabh! Jab se tum meri zindagi mein aayi ho tabh se kuch na kuch hote rehta hai. Aaj tumari wajase meri Ammi waha andar iss halaat mein hai. Aur mujhe uss insaan keh ghar jaana paada jisse main nafrat karta ho," Asad screamed through gritted teeth. Zoya felt his fingers sting her arms, cutting through the sleeve of her cotton top. She tried to wiggle out of his grip but it was firm that she couldn't move. "Yakeen nahi hota keh maine uss insaan koh meri Ammi keh paas jaane diya. Yeh sabh tumari wajase hua hai...sabh tumari wajase," he blamed. Tears stung her eyes hearing his words. Asad let go off her with a jerk causing her to fall back to the wall. He walked away as she fell to the ground crying. Was it her fault that phuphi was in the hospital? He blames her for what happened? She thought as she sobbed.

Even after Dilshad returned home, he never let Zoya near her. Asad needed an outlet to get his anger, frustration, pain out and that was Zoya. It really hurt her that he was treating her as an outcast. Isn't that what she was for him? He never considered her part of this house or family? After about a week, Asad learned from Najma that Zoya was actually sending Mariam away. It was Dilshad who had wanted Mariam to stay. He felt terrible. He wanted to apologize but it never happened. She didn't want to hear anything from him. He remembered how happy Zoya has been when she saw Dilshad after a whole week. Few days later, he had actually forgotten about the incident. But, Zoya still remembered. She remembered every single word that had left his mouth that day.

The accidental cluttering of utensils bought them both back. Zoya felt fresh tears fill her eyes. She moved away from him and rushed out of there. Asad knew what she was thinking about. He couldn't believe that she still feared him. Of course she did! Has he ever given her a reason not to? His mind retorted. Maybe it was time to say sorry, Asad thought.

Zoya ran out to the garden as tears rolled down her cheeks. She felt so stupid! Zoya was a girl who had no problem in telling the world about what she felt. But, with him...she felt restricted. She was afraid of him. And today, she had gathered all her courage and told him what she truly felt. But, he rejected it. He rejected the fact that they could possibly ever become partners in life. He rejected the idea that she could become a part of his life. Was his hate for her so great? What was she supposed to do? Was her life going to be spent acting as his wife only when others were around. Her thoughts were interrupted when she felt someone walk in behind her. Zoya wiped her tears and walked up to the metal swing. She took a seat not wanting to see him. Hasn't he done enough for the night? Maybe that was more he forget to tell her, she thought sadly. Moments later, Zoya felt him take a seat on the swing next to her. She pretended that he wasn't present. Asad knew that she was upset, and she kind of had a reason to be. Well, she had every reason to be, his mind countered. Ok fine, she can be angry, he told himself. Asad, you were here to apologize...his head recalled. "I am sorry," Asad said breaking the silence between them. Zoya felt her heart stop. He was apologizing? And that too to her? No! Can't be! She is porbably imagining all this. You are not dreaming Zoya, this is very real, her inner self clarified. But why should I forgive him? After all he has done, he says one sorry and I should forgive him? At least he is saying sorry, isn't that the first step? Is it? Zoya stood up to leave. As she was about to walk away, he held her wrist. There was no force in his hold, it was more of a soft, pleading touch. She turned around and looked down at him. "I am realy sorry...for everything," he said again. Her anger, complains, everything vanished into a puff of air seeing him apologize so sincerely. She felt lip locked, not having anything to say. "I have something for you," Asad said. He slowly let go off of her wrist. Zoya felt the warmth leave and her heart felt an unknown sensation in her heart. Asad picked up a plate from the side table and offered it to her. She saw a pizza slice decorated with ketchup. It had a sorry with a smiley face written on it. Zoya looked up to look at his pleading eyes. Weeks ago, they had been in a similar situation but their positions were switched.

Few days after coming to the Khan mansion, Zoya had decided that the house wasn't safe. She has seen some shadows at night and were worried for the safety of Najma, Phuphi, and Mr. Khan. One night, Zoya had all her equipment laid out on the living room floor working on the security system. Suddenly, something had intervened with the connection and the alarm had went off. As Zoya fumbled with her wires to find out how to turn it off, Najma, Dilshad, and Asad rushed outside to see what was going on. "Ms. Farooqui, aap kar kya rahi hai?" Asad asked in disbelief. "Woh Mr. Khan, main ghar ka naya security system build karahi thi," Zoya replied casually. "Aur aapko kisne kaha keh iss ghar koh security ki zaroorat hai? Aur hai bhi toh aap jaise logo se hai," Asad told her angrily. "Asad," Dilshad reprimanded. "What's wrong with you Mr. Khan? Main toh bas acche kehliye karahi thi. Aur aap kaun se James Bond hai keh sabh se ladlenge," Zoya mumbled towards the end. Asad felt his blood fill with rage listening to her words. "What did you say?" he stated as he moved towards her. Zoya stepped back in fear. As she stepped back, some of the cords wrapped around Asad's right leg. He was pulled and fell forward, landing on top of her. Not able to bear his weight, she fell back to the floor with him on top of him. Dilshad and Najma gasped in the background. Zoya felt her heart race with him so close to her. She didn't understand why every time he came close to her, she felt this tingling sensation all over her body. What was it about him? Asad hated it! Not the position they were but what the position was doing to him. He wasn't a man who oogled on woman but this woman who was in his arms at that moment made him feel things he didn't know existed. His mother's voice broke his trance. Asad quickly picked him up from the floor. Zoya waited for him to be a gentleman and offer her help. Who was she kidding? Mr. Asad Ahmed Khan was only a gentleman to other woman...she was definitely not on that list. "Yeh ghar aaj bhi mera hai Ms. Farooqui, it is better if you ask my permission before doing anything with it," Asad firmly stated and left from there. Zoya sulked as she looked up at Dilshad and Najma. "I was just trying to help phuphi," she whined like a kid. Dilshad smiled, "I know beta. Chalo utjao," she said understandlingly as she came forward to help Zoya off the floor. As Zoya stood up, she noticed that Asad's phone had fallen to the ground and was broken. "Yeh toh Mr. Khan ka phone hai, agar unne paata chala toh main toh gayi," Zoya said worried. "Kohi baat Zoya, tumse galati hogayi. Tum dehdo, main Asad koh phone lauta dungi,"Dilshad offered. "Nahi nahi phuphi, main hi lauta dungi. And I will say sorry too," Zoya said. Dilshad nodded and left. "Are you sure keh Bhaijaan se sorry bolna chathi ho?" Najma asked. "Galti ki hai toh sorry bhi toh bolna hai," Zoya told her. "And how are you going to do that?" Najma wondered. "Wait and watch till tomorrow morning Tamatar," Zoya said with a giggle. The girls then retired to bed.

The next morning, Zoya ensured that she woke up early enough to make breakfast for Asad before he left for work. She has made his toast but with a twist today. Dilshad made his black coffee. Zoya arranged everything on the table carefully as she has seen Najma and Dilshad do from the past few days. "I hope unne pasand aaye phuphi," Zoya hoped. "Of course, pasand aayega Zoya. Tumne itni meihinat ki hai," Dlshad comforted. She saw her son enter the dining room. Dilshad pushed Zoya forward encouraging her to serve him breakfast, and left from there. Asad walked to the dining table and saw Zoya standing near his chair. She looked nervous. He was puzzled as to where his mother and sister were. "Najma college kehliye jaldi chali gayi hai. Aur phuphi koh kuch kaam hai," she replied. Asad looked at her for a moment then came and took a seat. Zoya quickly poured him some coffee and served him the toast she has made. Asad almost choked on his coffee seeing the toast. What was his mother thinking? He was 3? And why did his toast contain a smiley face with jelly. He looked at her quiestiongly. "Actually Mr. Khan, kal raat joh bhi hua, uss kehliye I am sorry. I was just trying to protect the house. Aur aapne apna phone bhi thod diya so," Zoya explained as she gave him the reminence of his phone. Asad saw his broken phone and was recalling the incident last night. "Please don't get mad again," she pleaded. Asad actually couldn't get angry at her. She looked so adorable with that pout on her lips. Wait! Did he just think adorable? What was wrong with him? She did look really cute with her smiley toast, his heart melted. Zoya saw his lip twitch up for a smile but never reached there. She beamed. Success...she did an imaginary fist pump in her head. "Thank you Ms. Farooqui but I am getting late," Asad said as he took a couple sips of the hot coffee and left from there. "Allah miyan, aapne baccha liya," Zoya said thanking the one above.

"Zoya...Zoya," Asad called out. Zoya couldn't believe that he has done the same for her. He remembered! Her heart jumped in joy but the next second broke with agony recalling how he had rejected her. She stepped away from him. "Main aapko kyun maaf karo Mr. Khan? Aap jab chaye tabh mujhe kuch bhi bolte hai aur aapko lagtha hai keh sorry bolne se sabh theek hojayega?" she said angrily. "Agar aapko iss rishte koh mazak hi banana tha toh mujhse shaadi kyun ki?" Zoya questioned as tears filled her eyes. He held her hand, "mere liye yeh rishta mazak nahi hai," Asad firmly stated. "Accha? Toh kya hai yeh rishta aap kehliye? Mujhe kabhi samaj kyun nahi aata keh aapko kya chahiye?" Zoya said confused. "I am sorry Zoya, main tume confuse nahi karna chatha," he said. "Mr. Khan...kya aap mujhe kabhi apni zindagi ka issa banne denge?" Zoya asked painfully. Asad felt his heart constrict listening to the pain that her voice held. He stood up and turned his back towards her. "Zindagi mere paas hai hi nahi Zoya keh main tumare saath usse share karsako. Main kabhi ek husband nahi bansaktha hoon. Then why should I give you false hope?" Asad said. He wasn't someone who shared his feeling with many people but today, Asad didn't know why he had shared his deepest scare with her. "Aur aisa kyun hai?" she said puzzled. "Kyun ki main Rashid Ahmed Khan ka beta hoon," Asad said sadly. Zoya was stunned. She knew how much he hated his father. Najma had told her about Rashid and how he has abandoned his family when Asad and Najma were merely kids. Asad hated him! Asad hated that his father had left his mother to suffer all alone. Zoya admired Dilshad and Asad. Dilshad has worked by herself to give the kids a good education and life. Asad too had worked hard to build his own company and provide for his mother and siser. "Main Mr. Rashid se kitni bhi nafrat karlo, hoon toh unka hi beta na. Main kissi rishte keh layak nahi hoon," Asad said. Zoya now understood why he was so aloof. She understood his inner fear. So, he was scared about how his past was going to hinder his future. "Theek hai Mr. Khan, aap mere saath mere pati bankar nahi, mere dost bankar toh reha sakthe haina?" Zoya asked him. Asad looked at her surprised. He tells her that he doesn't any relationship in his life and she was offering to be his friend. Zoya looked at him tensely. Will he say no to this do too? She thought worried. No Zoya! If you want this marriage to work, then you have to do something. "Dekhiye Mr. Khan...humari shaadi toh ho chuki hai aur hume zindagi bhar saath rehna hai toh why not at least hum dost banne ki kosish kare," Zoya explained with a nervous grin plastered on her face. Asad was quiet for a few minutes pondering on what Zoya had said. It seemed like a logical plan, for once her plan had a reasonal explanation. Maybe being friends with her will let them live cordially. "Ok fine," he agreed. "Saach?" Zoya screamed happily. "Aap chila kyun rahi hai Ms. Farooqui?" Asad said getting annoyed. "Dekhiye Mr. Khan, aabh aap mere dost ban hi rahe hai toh iss sabh ki hadad dalni padegi," she teased. "Great! I guess I didn't read the fine print before signing up," Asad mumbled. "I heard that Mr. Khan," Zoya warned. She was so happy that he had agreed. Allah miyan, please meri madad kijiye keh main joh karne jarahi hoon woh sabh theek rahe. Main Mr. Khan koh aise zindagi bhar apne aapko blame karte huwe jeene nahi dungi, she thought determinedly.

"Ms. Farooqui...aabh andar bhi chalna hai ya yehi rehna ka irada hai?" Asad asked. Zoya broke away from her own thoughts and looked up at him. She smiled, "yehi bait the haina Mr. Khan, mujhe aapka modified pizza khana hai," Zoya said. "Woh thanda hogaya hoga Ms. Farooqui," he told her but she ran up to the swing and took a seat. She grabbed the plate and was about to take a bite, but stopped. "Mr. Khan, can I say something?" Zoya asked. He nodded as he walked up to her and took a seat next to her. "Well I guess I have two things...First of all, mujhe yeh Mr. Khan, Ms. Farooqui bilkul bhi accha nahi lagtha, hum dost hai toh dost jaise ek dusre koh jaise bhulate hai waise bhulate haina?" Zoya reasoned. Asad didn't know what to say. They have been so formal from the past 2 months or so and now she wants him to call her by first name. "Please Mr. Khan," Zoya requested. If he was debating before, seeing her pleading face lead him to the decision. "Theek hai, main kosish karunga," Asad said. Zoya became excited again. Tonight was her lucky night or what? She wondered. "Thank you Mr. Khan," she announced. "I thought we were using first names," he reminded. "Oh yes," Zoya said hitting her head. "Say it," Asad told her. "Sorry?" she said puzzled. "Main chatha hoon keh aap mere naam ley," he firmly stated. Zoya felt goosebumps on her skin as his husky voice reached her ears. She raised her lashes to meet his chocolate brown eyes. There seem to be something in them...something that make her heart race and butterflies dance in her stomach. "Mera naam lo," he ordered. "A...Asad," Zoya called out. Asad felt something change inside him. There aren't many people in his life who take his name and gave him a serene sense of comfort. He never expected that she would be one of them. Zoya saw shock...surprise...then a small smile appear on his lips. "Now your turn," Zoya said. "What?" he said astonished. "I also want you to take my name," she demanded. Asad suddenly felt weird. It was easy to ask her but to do it, he felt tensed, nervous; he wasn't sure what he was feeling. Asad took a deep breath and took her name. "Zoya," he said. Zoya closed her eyes. It felt musical. She has never felt this way when some had taken her name in the past. Then why today? Was it because he was taking her name for the first time? They both were lost in each other's eyes. This was the first time that they were both together and something other than anger, ego, annoyance, or misunderstanding surrounded the air. There was sense of peace and tranquility. Suddeny, it started raining and they moved apart. "Come," Asad said as he took her hand and lead her inside the house. They were pretty wet by the time they reached inside. Asad and Zoya both walked into the room to change. Asad went to the cupboard to take out a fresh pair of clothes. As he grabbed his things and turned, his feet halted seeing the sight in front of him. There she stood with her hair down and bent over with a towel in her hair trying to dry her tresses. The wet clothes ran down her sillohuete outlining her curves. Asad felt himself go stiff. Only if he could run his hand down her skin, his heart yearned. The clothes fell to the ground as his thoughts shocked him. "Kya hua Mr. Khan?" her voice caused him to break away from his trance. "Nothing," he mumbled as he bent down to quickly pick up the clothes and left for the bathroom.

After taking a cold shower, Asad returned to the room to see her on the bed changed in a light pink salwar kameez. She was devouring her favorite pizza. Seeing him, "aayiye na, maine aap kehliye pizza phir se garam kardiya hai," Zoya said offering him a plate. "Thank you," Asad said as he stepped forward. He walked up to her but didn't sit. Zoya was chewing her pizza waiting for him to take his seat. "Aap baitenge nahi?" she asked. "Kya hum dining table peh khasakthe hai?" he questioned. Zoya stopped eating. She realized how particular Asad was about his room and what a clean freak he was. Wait...did she just say freak? Well, he kind of was. "Allah miyan...sorry Mr. Khan! I forgot," Zoya said, a little scared that he was going to yell at her. "It's ok, and mera naam Asad hai," he reminded. Zoya smiled and nodded. He helped her get off the bed and they both went to the dining hall. After eating, Zoya put the left over food in the fridge and the dishes in the sink. When she walked into the room, she saw Asad working on his laptop. Zoya waited for him to finish to she can sleep. She sat on the window ledge and admired the sky. Today felt like an important day. She had finally made him open up to her. They both talked together without yelling at each other. For once, he felt normal, at least partly. Allah, apne hi mujhe yaha tak aane ki himmat di hai, I hope keh aage ka raaste bhi aap hi dikhayenge, she prayed. As Asad finished and put his laptop away. Zoya went to the bed and grabbed the extra blanket and pillow. "Kya karahi hai aap?" Asad asked, seeing her walk towards the sofa. "Woh shone jarahi thi, raat hogayi na," Zoya said confused. "Zoya please, yaha sohjao," Asad said pointing to the bed. "What?" she said shocked. He wants her to sleep in the same bed as him. Did he hit his head somewhere today? She wondered. "Aap ne hi bola keh hum dost hai. Aap chahe toh beech mein extra pillow rakdijiye. I don't want you to sleep on the sofa, I know it is uncomfortable," Asad explained. "Oh...," she said. Zoya...you and your gutter brain, she silently scolded herself. She walked up to the bed and placed the pillow and blanket in its place. Asad went into the closet and bought out extra pillows. Soon, the bed was separated into two halves with Zoya on the right and Asad on the left. They both pretended to sleep but it was hard. They were both lost in thoughts of what had happened that night. Things seemed to have suddenly changed. Was this good? Was it expected? Will this friendship ever go somewhere? Tried, they soon lost themselves in deep slumber.

Ok, I know that I am like super super late. Firstly I was busy and couldn't write. Secondly, my computer was giving issues so things got delayed. I will try to update the next part as soon as time permits. I really really appreciate you guys being understanding...but hey a chapter without Tanveer lol. So I hope you guys enjoy 😃
