I am a Malayali from Kerala. We wear set saree. but not like seen in this serial.. I found most f d tym a grup f charactres wearing set sarees in functions. today too...

Usually kerala girls dont wear set saree during engagemnts and Knotting "Thaali". in weddings after "Thaali kettal" bride wear set saree.. Bridals in kerala wear pattusaree more also women who attend the wedding also prefer pattu saree or fancy saree rather than set saree.

I dont say that We dont wear set saree. We wear. but we dont use excessively like what showing in this serial

Hi :)
Nice to know there is a Malayali in the forum. I think they use set saree a lot just to show the difference between the Tamil and Malayalam cultures. It might not be realistic but I think they just want to show Priya and Arjun r from very different backgrounds. That's just how i see it :) I like the set saree, so its nice to see them wearing it 😳

They call them the iyer family but all customs and traditions are more similar to Kerela. Iyer's from Kerela still have their trandtions which are very different from Kerela traditions including what they showed in Arjun-Priya's wedding. So, I guess we should just take it as a mixture of all traditions whatever the director feels like showing.
