Part 19
They had been working under the covers for a week now. While they kept on discussing plans with Sultan's men, they also kept on working on their own plans. Being in Sultan's den they werent able to contact much with RAW. They had met Sultan just once in this one week. That had made them realize that getting hold on Sultan wouldn't be very easy. It required a good plan and hold of the situation.
Sultan had called RK to tell him how important the mission was for him. He even threatened him indirectly on grave circumstances if anything went wrong.
RK was sitting in his room engrossed deep in thoughts. Just then Madhu came in his room. "I have a news.."
RK looked at her curiously.
"Sultan is coming after 2 days again and this time I am able to track his schedule. Here it is.. read it and destroy it.. nobody should know we were keeping tabs on Sultan" She said passing him a paper.
"I am confused Madhu.." he said taking the paper and looking at it.
"About what?" She asked.
"You know about those powers for which I am being hired. What bugs me is that should I use them or not.. killing Sultan would sure be much easier but has its own risks"
"No! You cant use your powers just like that.. Sultan must not know what you are capable of. Only use yourself when you are sure that there is no other way.. otherwise he can use you for his own benefits, being around him for so long, i have come to know he is very shrewd.. Use your powers so you can handle emergencies.." she said sitting beside him.
"That's what I thought.." he said nodding as he looked ahead though he seemed to be lost. Madhu looked at him for a few seconds and sensed that he wasnt looking anywhere but more engrossed in some deeo thoughts and he even seemed somewhat unnerved.
"What happened Rishabh?" Madhu asked holding his shoulder.
RK looked at her and a sad smile played on his lips as he shook his head.
"You can tell me.." she said though scared that he might reject that. She did remember that he was extremely angry at her when they were home.
RK took in a deep breath. "I was just contemplating about my powers and then the whole life of mine played in front of my eyes.." he said a little sad.
Madhu looked at him confused. "How can someone be upset from the gift that you have..?" She asked not believing.
"You may think that but I know what that gift has cost me.." he said with a slight frown.
"What has it cost you?" Madhu asked getting serious.
RK looked at her for a few seconds and then decided to tell her anyway. If he at all wants her to be a part of his life then she should know about him.
"My dad was a scientist. He worked with some radioactive elements and their effects on human body. Little did he know that those elements were causing certain effects in him too. Though he took all precautions but slight and chronic exposure to that material affected me. He didn't have much changes in him except for constant skin allergies or bowel disturbances but when I was born the effects occured in me.." he paused to take a breath.
"How did that happen?" Madhu asked confused.
"The radioactive element affected the rapidly dividing cells majorly and he faced the affects related to such tissues and sperms being one of the most active tissue was also affected. Anyways.. I was quite young when strange things started happening around the house. I was born very healthy and my mother had a hard time looking after me.. but she was brilliant.." RK said with a smile as he remembered his mother. Madhu smiled with him.
"But my so called powers soon started to get ugly.. being a kid I hardly understood what it was and thats why I started hurting mom.. My slight punch while crying or anger would hurt her too much. Then I would throw things around or make them fly when too happy. My dad tried to control me but then even he was hurt a lot of times. All three of us had to live in an almost confinement at a secluded area so that nobody comes to know my powers. I was not allowed out of house at all until I learned to control it. Dad took all that responsiblity on himself while mom would always provide me with that emotional strength that I needed whenever it took a toll over me. After around 14 years of age Mom Dad took me to a nearby park for the first time where I saw other kids playing. it was fascinating.." RK said with a smile while Madhu now looked at him dumbstruck.
"Until 14 years mom took care of my studies and education but after that I was admitted in a school so I can clear the required exams and enter mainstream.. But even after so many years it was not enough.. I would do some or the other stupid mistake and then all of us had to shift out of that place. It happened for years shifting from one place to another. When I was almost 20 my mom fell ill. She was already weak because of all the injuries she had to face while raising me and she couldn't fight her disease and left me.. after that even dad started to deteriorate as he missed her like hell and thats when the effects of that radioactive element started showing in him. His skin got all rashes at some places and parched at others.. i just cant explain how i saw him in his last days.." His voice began to crack as his eyes filled with tears. He took in a deep breath and controlled himself. "He finally died a month later due to cancer. By that time I was literally praying for his death.. " he completed.
A tear escaped Madhu's eyes hearing him. She could have never thought such a heartbreaking story behind all his jokes and laughs. No one could ever make out what he had faced.
"You cant imagine the burden of knowing the fact that you actually caused your parents so much of pain.. I still remember my mom's wounds and how she used to laugh when she was hurt. I never understood it then and used to get amused but I realized it later that she actually faced a lot of pain and she hid her cries in that laugh.." he said with shaking voice as she turned to look at Madhu who now had tears rolling down her eyes. RK hugged her tightly trying to drown his own hurt.
"After my parents were gone I had stayed alone. And as they had taught me I kept changing places. I had never had any friends and even decided I would stay away from everyone but then you came along and I didnt understand why but I had gotten immensely attracted by you. I almost forgot my promise to myself to stay away from everyone and started getting involved with you. But then..." he sighed and looked away. "Even you betrayed me.. But see even then I couldn't stay away from you.." he said with a slight laugh.
Madhu looked down in guilt hearing him. "Rishabh, I know I hurt you a lot and I know that you feel betrayed but..."
"Its ok Madhu.. I understand now.." RK said with a slight smile.
"No.. I want to say.. even though you might think that all our friendship and days spent together were just made up but the truth is that I lived my life in that one month. I had totally forgotten about any plans or who I am.. each laugh, each tear and each silence was as true and sacred to me as it was for you. I only remembered about it that night when the agency aclled me up to enquire about you.. The truth is that even if it was all planned but I fell in love with you for real.." Madhu said looking into his eyes. RK looked in her eyes shining in the dark.
"And I can assure you Rishabh.. except for that first meeting with you.. I never pretended anything... With you around, my real self used to come out.. I would feel all my inhibitions go away.. Its a facade that I have to put on in RAW due to my profession.Only you are the one who knows the real me..." she said with a slight smile with tears glistening through her eyes.
"Really.. and I used to think that the one I loved actually never existed.." RK said with a raised eyebrow though his voice trembled a little due to the lump forming in his throat.
Madhu shook her head in negative.. "Nope.. The one you love is your Madhu..."
RK's smile froze as he tried holding on to his emotions. Madhu leaned forward kissed on his lips. She was about to break off when RK held her with a jerk and such a powrr that Madhu couldnt believe at that moment. He slammed his already kissing lips on hers and kissed her with all his might while Madhu fellt herself float in air. At first shhe thought that the whole new feeling made her feel ecstatic but then shhe realized that they were actually floating in mid air as RK held her waist tightly.
